Excellent 👌🏽
Thank you 🙌
For your pipes to go through the RSJ, do you need structural engineers design for those or do you just screw in the middle two holes for the radiator pipes to go oin? Great videos by the way. We're DIYing our own based on your videos!
Thats well good, thanks for your comment. No my steel guy just noes the limitations of holes in steels.
Can this be used for civil works?
What jobs do you do exactly
I Mainly do civil work - upgrades to commerical and industrial units and spaces things like that. I've had a play with it and although there's is not masses in my line of works there are still sections such as slabs / demo / plant / site previsions etc which are really helpful. The fact that you can update as you go is great too and should work well for me over time. I already have spreadsheets but this should keep things tidy so I going to get. Thanks for your reply still 👍 hope work is well
So did you ever figure out why that rafter was so rotten in the first place? That's very abnormal and most gable ends with failed mortar don't have rafters anywhere near that rotten. Hint: pause the video at exactly 15:53 , some will see it, some won't. ;-).
I think we can safely say that speech-to-text software didn't handle this top geezer's accent very well.
Wouldn't it not be easier to put bricks in skip
No because you have to use plastic tubs, on the deck you can use a barrow and tip on the floor. Lastly it's cheaper to get a hard-core muck away than 2 skips
state of that cavity wall 😂
It's sooo bad ain't it. 😁
Great job. How much should a foundation for a 40m2 extension cost ?
Depends on depth and width . And what depth of concrete pour.
I'm curios, why did you have to use 2 RSJ's? I'm in the middle of a house renovation and enjoying learning all the new stuff that comes with it!
Usually you have 2 with spacers when it's a cavity wall. So 1 steel per skin of wall
Yhst looks nest!
Can I ask what the general cost for an install like this is ?
Too many variables to say could be 2k or could be 10k. Best thing to do is send me an email .
Where did you get the pins from mate that hold the clay board to the sides?
We cut T off the rebar brother
@@pauljamieconstruction1871 as in buy a sheet of mesh cut t sections out? Nice. Did they make you keep the board off the bottom of the trench? Never really understand that. Easier to put it to the bottom surely. Saves having to try and hold it up. I’m on a similar job where it was standard footings designed by architect then Struct engineer took a look and now it’s 2 meters with clay board because of a nearby ash tree.
We had to use 2 layers of mesh on this job, so we had some left over. clay master is 500mm off the bottom i think, thats why we cut pegs to hold it,
The reason it was fitted in ten seconds is because the video was running at treble speed. 💨💨💨💨💨 🤪
😂😂. No one wants to watch 9 mins of that .
@pauljamieconstruction1871 👍🤣
Do the gaps not get clogged up quickly blocking the vent?
It's like anything i guess. Maintenance is required
Left it better than u found it! Beaut there.
100%. All you can do sometimes
Great i am looking to do very similar. How did this take. Thanks
2 days brother
Thanks for the info, much appriciated!
Good video - thanks!
👊🏼
Why are the needles in upstairs of the joists down stairs are propped?
What was your mix? To make it that consistancy? Looks not too wet which I'm aiming for in my porch end of December floor
Yes should form a ball in your hand when squeezed but no moisture coming out. If you have a laser set it up with a pencil mark on the height as a reference
Why did you double up the joists on some buddy?
May have been an existing double. Or if can't fix a hanger on. We run another down the side bolt them together and hanger the one. Let me no what minute you saw that
@@pauljamieconstruction1871 16:56 Paul
I no. Andy nocked the laser and cut 2 of em too short. So had to bolt another timber on 1m back 😂@damianhall4554
Send link of this product
It's from leader doors , online, Google magnetic latch and it will come up
Blinding bit of software this is. I can’t seem to find the app for it though?
You have to look for that yellow logo
very helpful, cheers
That one looked fun ! Great job 👏🏽
It was alot more fun than the other one. 😂. Do you watch many of my you tube videos?
@ sure do, very interesting. I’m learning a lot off you 👌🏽
My pleasure my friend @AdamW-up4qh
Good work. Like your content.
Thank you brother 👊🏼
Loving your channel. Delaware USA. I bought a hundred year old brick house and finding people to do brick work isn’t easy. Brickwork is old school but super common.
Hello, my American friend . Thank you for your comment. All houses in the uk are made from bricks and blocks. Normal for us 😂 hit me up if you need advice
Hi Paul, can you please explain why did you put superviser and labourers for 20 hours a week each? It looks a bit shy to me hence why I'm asking, cheers
Hi thanks for the comment . Foreman is priced at 200-250 per day it would be unfair to charge that everyday if you are a working foreman. This covers the calls, meetings, managing , pi king materials, basically all the extra hours spent running the project. If you are running the project all day every day then charge it accordingly.
Lovely job lad
Thankyou brother 🙏
12:30 shows the massive and wide lintel just sitting on one leaf of the wall???
It shows the RSJ (lintel) being supported by 2 acro props. Then we built a pier underneath with engineering bricks and a steel plate to bridge the cavity
Love your videos, I always get a buzz when I see you’ve put one up. Top content
morning Tom , thank you for taking the time to comment, its great getting recognition to keep me focussed. Stay tuned for next week we have another structural job.
Great vid. My builder is saying I have to put the beam underneath the joists, can all joists normally be cut and connected to some wood inside the beam via brackets like you've done normally?
Thank you. Its difficult to say without seeing it. If you want it sunk in the ceiling needles are required through the bedroom above , heating pipes need cutting and re connecting through the rsj, majority of builders install under the joists. Check out our latest video uploaded 5 days ago it shows the whole process
@@pauljamieconstruction1871 great thank you, I'll check out the other vid as well
If you get stuck please let us no, we can come and sort it. @wwelty9272
thx mate 👍
Really helpful video, and you go into alot of detail. Thanks m8
My pleasure my friend . We got another knock through 4 th november .
Cracking work Paul. Always good to find a fellow Centreforce listener aswell.. Keep the great content coming brother.
Thank you Ben. Centreforce or shine all day long brother.
Nice job. You’ve inspired me to get the steels for our extension raised into ceiling to avoid a big T shape down stand! How do you normally fix bifold/sliders to the steel plate? Do you fix a timber plate underneath or just use tec screws through door frame into steel?
That's great to hear , thanks for taking the time to comment. We drill up into the steel plate with cobalt drill bits. Goes through steel like butter. Keep me posted on your extension
@@pauljamieconstruction1871 nice one. Unfortunately got a 305 UB to try and raise up, and that's after the engineer backed off the original 356 😂
Youll be fine. Just use same principle . We can come and do the knock through if you get stuck. @jarv75 @@jarv75
Cracking job mate! 👍🏼
Thank you. 👊🏼
well back miss the videos keep up the amazing work you are doing 👏 👍
Love that comment. We have another knock through 4th novemer. Goal post and double timber being sunk in ceiling
Great video and nice work, only draw back that i can see is, Should of done the concrete first on the foundation then put the second post in, but you would have to reduce the size of the second post! Thats the only problem! Smart documenting and making a video of the work 👍🏾
Thanks for your feedback . If we put the post in first we wouldnt have got the top beam in ceiling void.
Top workmanship. Love the fact that the RSJ is sunken, looks so much better. Quick question if you don’t mind, please - we have a wall that we would like to remove in order to creat a bigger, more open plan kitchen/diner, however, I think the joists run in opposite directions (i.e., the front room joists run east to west and the back room joists run south to north if that makes sense). Would it be possible to sink an RSJ, creating a flush ceiling in this scenario?
Thanks for your comment . The answer is absolutely yes you can. We have just done the exact thing last week. I am currently editing the video to drop tomorrow hopefully. If you would like us to do it , just us know.
That’s great to hear! Thank you for getting back to me. We’re just in the planning stages at present. I look forward to seeing your new video and will be in touch in the near future for sure. Thanks again
I’ve noticed with this software it automatically puts the labour price in for every specific job for every module like I just saw in this video but you also but a supervisor and a general labour for x amounts of weeks, isn’t that doubling up on the labour price? Im using this software and I like it I just want to make sure I’m being competitive on my prices but I’m not losing out on profits?
I look at it like this. Will you be spending time making phone calls, going out to site to meet your subbies , orga.ising materials, client meetings. Should this is all be changeable ??
Perfect every time ;)
😂😂
Well done mate! The strongboys at the floor above were only needed because you were sinking the RSJ and cutting the joists that were supporting the load bearing wall above, right? Otherwise, would the acrows downstairs be sufficient?
Absolutely correct. But you have to check that there is no gap above the joists even a small one, as the wall above could drop .
Nice work…👌🏻
Nice work pal, also good seeing the process. How much would this add to the cost compared to having a bulkhead and just sitting the floorjoists ontop of the RSJ?
Thanks james. Not much different time wise really. Only cost to move services passing through, once it's sunk in the ceiling there is no boxing to do just plaster board as normal. The answer to your question maybe £500-£1000
Cheers mate! Decent work and vid
Thanks mate. Have you got one to do?
@pauljamieconstruction1871 nothing like that
loving your work
Thank you brother
