Truly a gentleman , such an entertaining personality
If they did this in 2023, DeRozan gotta be top 5
Not sure if this is Zach Lowe’s account, if it is, just want to tell him that I miss your podcast, although you are not in ESPN now, as long as you do the podcast, I will follow and watch, u are one of the greatest
I’m really curious where Jrue Holiday would be ranked now in a redraft if you did this in 2024
Even in 2020 arguing harden is even close to curry was insane. Then you add in hindsight of steph winning another title and harden flamimg out in more playoffs just makes it hilariously stupid
2024... KAHNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember listening to this when it came out and thinking Zach wasn’t 100% crazy with the Ty Lawson take. Now 4 years later looking back it seems impossible to ever have had Derozan lower than 5th. Wild how things change.
Why can't Jefferson and Love play together? They compliment each other offensivly
This disrespect for derozan is crazy said a dude that don’t who you win basketball games but he led the raptors to a conference finals and perennial playoff team meanwhile jrue as the second best player in New Orleans only won one playoff Series
Interesting hearing how Harden was viewed before forcing his way out 3 teams
Chur big kiwi ⛳
Best podcast
The issue with demar is he cannot be the best player on a championship team and honestly he was almost always the best player on his team. Its kind of easy to target/prepare for his playstyle in the playoffs which is why in hindsight he looks bad and not a winner. It wouldve helped if he was a number 2 or a co number-1 and he wouldve honestly atleast had a better chance to go to the finals. The thing we forget is those years when demar was really good, it was impossible to go the finals as lebron was there and honestly even if demar had better teammates, i doubt he would've gone to the finals. Even if he does, beating the spurs or the warriors teams those years seems very doubtful. (this is all assuming he had better teammates on the raptors) Jrue on the other hand was always a number-2 or number-3 all those years because of which he was always high value depending on the team he was on.
"NUDGE!"
So great
The 2010 Cavs are better than the 2010 Celtics that's ridiculous
The GP2 shout in 2020 was prescient. Good eye, Zach
Y’all underrated demar
Why did it take until 25min until the draft start??? Absolutely Pathetic. I would love for Bill Simmons to do another 2009 redraft on his channel.
The James Harden take has aged like hot garbage.
For those of you who want the visuals: ^SPOILERS^ 1- Curry 2- Harden 3- Griffin 4- Holiday 5- Derozan 6- Rubio 7- Matthews 8- Lawson 9- Gibson 10- Evans 11- Green 12- Teague 13- Ingles 14- Beverly
Imagine picking Ricky Rubio and Ty Lawson over DeRozan lmao
imagine if James Harden was drafted by Memphis. I always believed that Memphis was only missing one scorer to be a champion.
“He runs like he’s towing a speedboat behind him”😭😂😭😂
Missed this one during the initial run and amazing how much DeRozan has now shifted in that conversation
Genuine argument for blake at 5 not even 2 years later
25:25 draft starts
Hindsight Zach is far too disrespectful of demar.
Listening to Lowe hating on DeRozan while he's averaging 27 a game at the all star break is kinda hilarious but I get it for the time. Just a couple years later it looks like a real bad take.
It was a bad take then too. Derozen was the best player on a consistent conference finalist. That may not be much but it's a greater impact than holiday. Not to mention how dismissive he is about DeMar ever after taking jrue. It's ridiculous. Those raptor teams were really good
It’s looking more accurate now
It’s looking more accurate now
@@julianbell9161 What do mean? He's averaging 25 5 5 on 51% shooting and is an all star at 33 years old.
It’s not that bad of a take. The bulls were WAAAAAAAAY overrated last year and they suck this year. The spurs weren’t good when they had him and the raptors were stuck in purgatory when they had him. Their point is he gets numbers and it doesn’t seem to make his team win basketball games.
It’s crazy to think how good memphis would be if they drafted steph or harden instead of thabeet. Derozan is also a buffed up version of Rudy gay. Tyreke or Rubio might conflict with Conley but I think the fit is not crazy bad. literally anything but thabeet
I like how they predicted jrue and giannas together now they champions
How much Haterade do you have to drink to pick Ty Lawson before DeMar?
Jrue Holiday can be the third best player on a championship team is a take that aged really well
Very good chance he’ll get another ring as the 4th or 5th best guy on a team this year too. Just a great, high character two way guy who’d fit on pretty much any team.
😂
@@TheHarvbingeranother take that aged well😂
@@TheHarvbingerHe did, good defender
Ty Lawson over Patty Mills wtf
Sitting here a couple hours after Jrue Holliday just played 3rd banana on a championship team. Great call Zach Lowe!
Funny how Jrue plays with giannis now
Herring's 538 input about 3% to 16% post-Harden trade laughably nullifies the merit of the pod with Arnovitz about preferring depth
Odd you mention only Aldridge leaving for nothing - all starters BUT dame left.
The term "Hockey Assist" also has to be banned from basketball talk. Basketball players have too much volition on each touch for the hockey assist to exist in basketball. There are far too many layups being passed up for 3's for the Hockey Assist to be a real thing. The Hockey Assist leads to a direct slapshot on goal. The closest parallel play would be a double alley-oop where the player receiving the ball has no choice but to dunk the ball.
I currently have Embiid, but I agree he needs to play a lot of games. I do think this year team record may hold slightly less value, just due to covid protocols affecting teams. Embiid and Jokic are having top 20 PER seasons, and Lebron has been playing great ball.
Awesome podcast
James harden is in the MVP race!
Zach when Hollinger says Gobert could be as high as #3 on the MVP ballot lol: old.reddit.com/r/NBAPodcasts/comments/llj3q6/zach_when_john_hollinger_says_rudy_gobert_could/
Embiid, Jokic, and Leonard are the plain outstanding candidates for MVP right now. LeBron just hasn't offered as much as Kawhi when you consider defence, and Kawhi beats LeBron pretty handily on that score. As Hollinger mentions, Curry is also a strong outside candidate. My guess is that their team's records will likely have an outsized impact on determining who ultimately takes the award. So barring an outstanding trade for the Warriors, it's probably three-way race.
Kawhi MVP.
He’s my favorite player but he’s a little bit behind right now
OU MY GOD... PLS SPARE ME WITH GOBERT Didn't we all saw who was the most important Jazzer last 1st round vs Nuggets... It was Donovan against the world
you should watch more basketball
@@cademonson9503 I've watched enough basketball over the last 15 years to know that they'll go as far as Mitchell takes them in the playoffs 👍 Definitely not Gobert
@@davincerica7232 if mitchells injured the team can still succeed now can they win it all without him? no absolutely not. but they can still make a decent run. now if gobert is hurt.... their hopes of winning anything at all are close to zero he is the glue that holds the team together the team is built around him without him the team fails. so again you should watch more basketball not just the playoffs.
@@cademonson9503 Again, stop acting smart. Gobert is overrated and it will be shown again... Defensive player who held Jokić to 26/8/6 on like 70% true shooting :)
@@davincerica7232 yes... the arguable favorite for mvp scored on him... what a great example. dude... its clear you're a gobert hater (i have a d mitch jersey and not gobert btw) which is fine. But your arguments dont hold any weight... the dude is clearly the thing that holds that team together why do they have such good 3 defense because the guards and forwards dont have to worry about the paint because goberts in their why do they have all the spacing in the world on PnRs? because goberts a real roll threat. It would be cool to have a genuine basketball debate with someone who knows about the game but obviously youtube comments arent the place to find it.. because your oh so large 15 years of watching experience has obviously been house of highlights game recaps/highlights.
The aggregate minutes/games played thing should not mean such a discount when Embiid’s team still has the most wins in the conference despite being 1-5 when he’s out... two way dominance, eye test dominance, advanced stats dominance- he is the clear front runner. If the Sixers finish first in the east, we’ll be seeing some very illogical narrative spinning out there.
If he misses 1/3rd of the games he won't be MVP, no matter what his stats look like.
This Lebron guy is pretty good, think he will get first ballot HOF?
Debatable
How did I not know about this one!!! JJ REDICK podcast brought me here.
This is my favourite sports podcast rn
Zach Lowe you suck sees Luka game sohai.
