2013 Suzuki SX4 gas door cable
2013 Suzuki SX4 gas door wouldn’t open due to a rusted and broken cable at the release lever. I remove panels using a 10 mm socket and a pointy tool to push in the centre pin on a panel retainer. I tried to reach through an access port but it was too hard. The only way to feel the connection is if my arm has to twist around so far my hand is useless and I can only just touch it. I had to remove the panels to get at it.

2008 Honda Fit Rear Door Garnish

Showing the tabs on the inner rear door garnish. I had previously broken one off the other side last year and couldn’t remember how they were layed out. Used Q-bond to fix it. To attach the outer garnish I had to pry up the trim on the window sill up a little to get a tab under it.

It was the plastic bearings/spacers in the side case that wore. Honda tech said they are a wear item. I don't know how you know until this happens. Anyways replaced the two plastic type bearing spacers on two different shafts and works fine. The rust is from getting snow in the gear case. I would drive it through deep old snow to clear around the house and shift back and forth when stuck. The f...

Honda Fit Door Lock

2008 Honda Fit door lock. Key wouldn't go in lock. I show the retaining clip that you can't see while removing lock. Through the crack you can just see the bend in the clip start by pushing down on that. Most of the lock pins had burrs on them I used a sharpening stone on the ones that weren't so bad the one I struggled with I didn't put back in along with two more. It's being a week and the lo...

suzuki sx4 oil filter
Просмотров 30 тыс.9 лет назад
This is how I remove the oil filter. Using the camera made it harder to manipulate the filter even the simple movements. When I first changed the filter I searched the internet for a simple approach and didn't find anything. I made this video so you can see an option. The year is a 2013 suzuki sx4. I don't know if all years are the same. If I'm missing something simpler please respond.

    I just changed the oil & filter on my 2008 Suzuki SX4. I removed the filter from underneath the car (supported by a jack stand, of course!), and the job was pretty easy. I've seen 2 RUclips videos, this being the second one, where the oil filter was replaced via the engine bay. No offense, but that way is harder, not smarter. Hope this advice helps someone 👍🏽

    This guy should make a new movie called dumb and dumber. Just remove a few screws and drop the plastic splash shield. You have to get under the car anyhow to pull the drain plug. If you don’t want to make a mess, just take a quarter inch drill and put a hole in the bottom of the filter.

      You can't access it any easier from the bottom. Even with the heat shield off you still need to do it this way. At least with the 2L US version.

    Honda key locks are so garbage. I had to do a similar "fix" with my Honda Fit ignition. I just left out the damaged pins and put it back in. It works fine but it's such a shoddy way to do it. I never had to do this with my Toyotas or Nissans!

    The problem is you never show clearly where the clip is in relation to that big plate. Is it oriented up or down or sideways? It’s not visible so it would be good to indicate some more detail about its location.

    • @dnnich

      It is positioned in a U shape. Through the door handle crack you can see one of the bends on the top side of the U. From inside you pull down on the bottom of the U which is all on the opposite side of the plate.

    Haha, only everyone on RUclips. :D I've just gone through the exact same process, including leaving out one badly worn pin. I was wondering what that clip was for - I found it kicking around inside the door (someone had worked on the lock before me). Thanks for sharing!

      ...and this afternoon I had to take it out again as the key was binding up again on the way in (and out!). This time I had to remove several more pins to get it to work nicely with the original key and a copy. I'll look into getting a re-pinning kit and doing it properly (I think the ignition lock is going to need the same treatment fairly soon). Since I had the door apart anyway, I took out the door stay detent thing and stuffed some shims in to retension it - much better.

    Only after the lock barrel comes out by using the above method, that it becomes clear how to do it next time, by using a small screwdriver one can get to it from the inside and leaver it out or use a special tool such as a flat piece of strong steel approx 0.75mm thick by about 2mm wide that one cam slot it through a small slit on the locking mechanism and leaver it out, but what a stupid design Honda, learn from Skoda Engineers how to make things less complicated. Skoda Engineers 10 out of 10, Honda Engineers -10 out of 10

  • @mgabrielle2343
    @mgabrielle2343 4 года назад

    I guess you did this because your key was getting stuck or jammed and you could not turn the barrel, if those who don't want to go through the trouble of finding that hidden pin to get the barrel out, then I suggest it may be worth trying other options first, 1. People who suffer from sticking keys or keys that won't go in fully then some people think oiling may be a good idea, but it is not, as over a period of time may get dirt inside and become like gunj that can jam the pins from moving up or down as the key is pushed in, so best way to never lubricate these locks with any oil, all the pins should run dry, however in the case where oil may have been put in by a previous owner, you then got to try and dissolve this gunj with white spirit, also try using WD40, if you can use a small syringe with a needle like the Doctors use for medics or drug addicts use for thier fix, load up some white spirit and insert the needle into the locks and try and squirt plenty of white spirit into the barrel, it would dissolve and thin out the gunj and the force of the new white spirit will squirt the gunj out, this would be a lot easier than to mess about with having to take this stupidly designed lock barrel that cannot be taken out easily unless you know the factory secret and special tools,

Thanks for the tips, specially on using a socket to pop the lock in to make it possible to put the clip back. How does the top spring go back on?

    • @dnnich
      @dnnich 5 лет назад

      Scott Godwin If you mean the spring that returns the core to centre I don’t remember exactly. I probably used a pick tool like ones used in video to pull it back on just enough to catch on the back of the core where you will see ridges that hold the spring. If you mean the spring clip for the whole assembly on the back of the handle? Basically put the clip on handle first using a socket to fill the hole void so the clip spreads open over the plastic and then remove socket. Then use a rubber mallet to pop it on the lock as it’s bolted ( the lock) in place.
