Diving the Zenobia Cyprus 2022
Просмотров 63Год назад
In September 2022 we left the boat and headed off for a well earned holiday after selling our home and all its contents. I spent the week diving the Zenobia, a roll on, roll off ferry that sank in Larnaca on the 11 August 1979 and is now considered one of the 10 best wreck dives in the world. Sam spent the time with some good books and a sandy beach so everyone was happy
Are We Completely Crazy

After settling in on Lowena one or two people have stated they think we're mad to chuck in everything we worked so hard to build over the last twenty years for this next adventure. So here is a quick glimpse of how we got here and what we have given up in order to travel the world on what is essentially a plastic boat You can decide for yourselves!!
Fair winds to you. Babbacombe looked like a future stop to aim for. Which headphone system did you use? I've been looking for similar for my wife and I. Thanks
Hi Darrel Thanks for the comment and yes Babbacombe has become a fave stop along the south coast, we will miss it when we head off to the med next year. The headsets we use are by Sena and we opted for the short mics as they don’t catch on anything when we move around. Sound is great, full duplex and the battery lasts for ages, they also pair with you phone so you can listen to music or take a call should you need to. Hope that helps and maybe see you on the water some time in the future
@@asailingmuggle brilliant - thanks for the tip
My wife and I hate you lovingly, you know that, don't you? Hugs...
Interesting following your journey, my boat is smaller and trailed but I often launch in the Solent, Torquay and Mylor 😊
Are yes one of the big advantages of having a trailered yacht. You can drive to the best locations and then enjoy the sailing ⛵️ let’s hope this year we get a few less storms and a few more force 4s
@@asailingmuggle and it costs nothing to store on the trailer at home when not in use. I had a mooring for 30 years but not having that expense is nice 🙂
Good point we are currently running at £8000 PA which I will be very glad to reduce when we finally cruse full time
@@asailingmuggle it's all pro's and con's, as you know. I'm tight in my old age, in Mylor I usually launch and park for free 🤦♂️
My parents had their honeymoon in Torquay. My hometown Trim was were London and York scenes were filmed in the film Braveheart. Love taking steam train in Isle of Man.
Was the heads seacock a tight fit in the locker?
We are lucky enough to have good access around all our seacocks. We did need to cut a small amount out of the cupboard but that was only because we fitted the trudesign collar. It was probably not needed but we tend to go belt and braces on Lowena
Thanks for the reply, I had heard that more room was required for the Trudesign fittings. @@asailingmuggle
Yes I would say about 10% a little more if you use the collar due to it making the fitting more awkward
Looks like a nicely produced blog. Look forward to catching up.
Thank you and welcome aboard. Where are you on your sailing adventure?
Very professional 👍
Thanks Mr A ⛵️👍
You know, don't you, that both I and my wife hate you lovingly? 🙂
And we love you too Mr R. When we make it to Italy you will both have to come aboard ⛵️😀
Nice video! I like the comments! 🙂
You are very welcome. Its a great place to dive if you like a wreck
Great video guys! Wishing you fair winds and following seas. From all of us at Yacht Solar Arches/LatBros Marine

Very happy you enjoy them. More to come at some point in the near future
I lovely hate You! 🙂
Hey, i'd like to sail in sporades during june/july. Just wondering something : how was the wind during your trip ? not too much violent ? thanks a lot
Hi Bill I have only just seen this so sorry for not replying sooner. I must have notifications turned off. The wind on the Aegean is generally stronger than the Ionian but we found it more consistent and like the whole of Greece it becomes stronger in the afternoon. We only had one night where the wind would have been over 30knts in the anchorage we were planning to go to so we diverted. The biggest issue is some of the islands are uninhabited so have no cell coverage and therefor weather reports will go out of date quickly if you don't find civilisation. We are not the most experienced sailors and Sam likes the gentle down wind stuff but we had no issues. On the plus side its is not as popular as the Ionian (no idea why) so you should generally get an anchorage or harbour spot when you need one Hope this helps and i wish you fair winds on your next adventure. Now off to find that notification button :-)
Your not crazy mate , living in a house working your entire life is crazy to pay it off then die , I don’t regret moving aboard full time one little bit 🎉
Thanks for the vote of confidence Mr K. It's such a radical departure from the norm it does make you think, so to get this from someone that has done it means a lot. Fair winds my friend but judging by the picture you don't need wind :-)
Merry Christmas and keep living the dream Kevin. All the best to you!
Thanks Colin I hope the corporate life is still treating you well
Great to be there
It was lovely to have you and the family be part of our day
Looks fun, you went the long way to 'drag it out' 🤣!
Looks like you had a lovely time, and the boat (and yourselves) came back in one piece 😂.
