I Took The Wheels Off My R129 Mercedes And Gave Them A Good Scrub

- In this video we deep clean the wheels of our 1991 Mercedes 300SL, or more commonly known as a R129, Typically when dealing with cars in this condition, its a guarantee that the wheel barrels have never been cleaned, and this was definitely the case. They were absolutely caked in brake dust that had made its way through the paint and began pitting the wheels. But all is not lost, we used a number of techniques to remove as much of the debris as possible. We used iron and tar removers, very concentrated all purpose cleaner, clay bars and even sand paper on the barrels. Followed up by a polish, and some tire dressing. They are by no means even close to perfect, but they do look a lot better, and that works for us. Enjoy this satisfying auto detailing video shot in 4K for your viewing pleasure. Wonderful to see the correct period alloys on your early 500 SL! And not god awful chrome finish either! Cleaning my cars alloys like this and having clean wheel arches is one of my favourite things to do too! I hope you make a video of detailing the rest of your lovely original R129 SL. Brakes seems very rusty has it sat for a long time?

After I switch over to my winter wheels and tires, I give my summer alloys a thorough cleaning front and rear so they never get this bad.

Very nice Rick. Quick question. When you have a car come in that you have coated the rims with ceramic/graphene what type of APC or cleaner do you use on the tires, so it doesn't eat away at the rims coating? As always great video and lQQk forward to the next one. Cheers!
Thanks Rich! We typically use the exact same combo, Iron X followed by Brake Buster or APC. If its a quality coating you will have no issues!
