Have you considered putting a bit into your wash bucket? I have done it and it works really well for reducing water spots, and saves having to go back over with a spray bottle
I’ve been using the Formula 4 for helping my black cars dry spot free. I’ve read it’s the solution auto car washes use when you pay extra to get a ‘coat of wax’ with your wash. As you mentioned, it gives a nice shine, but nothing that will hold up past the next rain storm.

I can get the gallon for as little as 22 dollars if I wait for it to arrive at a local vendor. So for that I gave it a shot, dug out my washing kit and gave it a shot. I was not disappointed zero hard water spots very impressed. Thank you.

I am curious how this will work in the Phoenix, Arizona sun where it gets hot, really HOT, and almost always sunny where it gets over 100+ degrees by 9:00AM on many days during the summer. Does this compare to Lucas Oil Slick Mist or are these products completely different?
The simple answer is yes it’s comparable but it makes more sense to compare slick mist to something like meguiars x press spray wax. They are both polymer sealants that can be used as a drying aid (notice I say drying aid and not rinsing aid like I do in reference to the formula 4). I will post a follow up video to show these products in direct comparison in this application to the formula 4
Do you think this would work on glass? I’m looking for a solution to streaking while cleaning glass in the hot FL sun. Wonder if I could add a bit of this to my spray cleaner
I’ve been having problems with it leaving residue but I’ve been spraying it on after I wash and rinse. So I’ve been washing, rinse, spraying diluted formula 4, rinse again. I have a black truck and it leaves a residue so I’ll try to spray it on while the soap is on and see if that makes a difference.
@@trails4days Deven, dilute the formula 4 more. It’s been working for me to dilute 20:1 or 30:1, spray the rinse aid on the soapy water right after the contact wash and rinse. No residue. I think at 10:1 it was just too concentrated on a dark vehicle and leaving residue marks. 👍🏼
What he missed is that formula 4 has a chemical that actually removes mineral deposits. It really works great on paint but those car glass roof tops dry fast. But with Formula 4, it weakens the water spots and can easily be removed with waterless wash or quick detailer. Its never easy washing in the sun. The trick dividing the car by half and rinse the car off with formula 4, and then wash the second half. Keeping the other half wet. Dry fast. Have a product to remove water spots just in case you were too slow to dry. I like the spot remover from 3D. Its very strong stuff. I just a wet micro towel put some 3D spot remover. Works great. I have done this for years. It really helps to put the car in the shade to dry. Why suffer.

Great tip! If you’re putting on a ceramic coating on the vehicle afterwards, would you forgo this step? Or am I splitting hairs here because this tip assists the time to complete cars so you can move onto the next customer?
If you're ceramic coating you'll want the paint as clean as possible so the ceramic coating can bond to the clear coat so definitely don't put this on before a ceramic coating. This can be used as a top coat over a ceramic coating or as part of a regular wash.
@@CorgiOnStilts_ This product is pretty similar to ONR from what I saw in the video, which is the same thing a lot of people use for a clay lube. If you're ceramic coating an IPA wipe down is necessary after clay regardless so no harm in using this.
Hey Luke, How are you? I hope you and your family are doing well. I was wondering what the difference is between this product and the Technicians Choice Ceramic Detail Spray? What one is better? Thank you for your time and for making this video.
Interesting. Would there be any issues putting a sealant or ceramic coating on after using this? Would this negatively impact the durability of the protection?
I would ALWAYS strip everything with a strong surface prep in between any washing/water spot prevention, and the actual application of the coating... not to mention if there is paint correction in between the prep and coating
Any polishing will remove this almost immediately, even a ipa spray will break it down it’s not very durable. I would put a sealant right over without a worry.
Ok so what about using this for the more critical jobs that you would be doing mobile ? Example if I am using a spray ceramic sealant I wouldn’t want this on the paint first correct? It would make my 6 month basic coating not bond. This would be a basic package where there is no polishing.
What about the lubrication benefit of a drying aid? Some water will still be left over on the vehicle, especially without the use of a blowdryer. In that case will you still opt for a drying aid to add lubrication when going at the remaining water with a drying towel or is the marring from drying insignificant at this point?
I don’t know if this is a good idea or not, but… what if you mix the product into your foam canon, would it work like that too??? Or no just curious I’m new to this stuff and I’m trying to learn
Most times when speaking about dilution ratios, smaller number is (almost always) the chemical itself 10:1 (10 parts water, 1 part chemical) 25:1 (25 parts water, 1 part chemical) And so on. Now as far as how to do it, there’s two ways: 1. Weigh them. Put 10 ounces of water in a bottle, then pour 1 ounce of the chemical. Or 2. Measure them, let’s just say you use a typical shot glass, just pour ten shot glasses of water into a bottle, then one shot glass of chemical. Dilution is all about ratios. When they say 10:1, they just mean 10 parts of water, to 1 part of chemical. It’s up to you to decide how much a singular ‘part’ is. For instance, you could make a ridiculously large batch and do 10 gallons of water mixed with 1 gallon of solution.
I have been using this product for a couple years now but I think I am ready to invest in a DI , any recommendations? It has to be portable and compact.
Would you use this same process on ceramic coated vehicles as well? Does the wax take away from the ceramic hydrophobic properties? Thanks for the input and knowledge you always share!
