- Honey time lapses are among the most requested videos I receive. While many know that honey possesses antibacterial properties and naturally preserves itself, there's still a fascination to watch it over an extended period.

Fun Fact: Just like fingerprints, no two honey varieties taste exactly the same. The flavor and texture are influenced by the types of flowers the bees visit.
(In case you are new here, I always put a fun fact in my video descriptions.)

Considering properly stored honey can last thousands of years, this may be a difficult thing to time lapse

Considering how Honey is probably one of the very few things that can't really expire, it's really interesting watching not much happen.
What was the discoloration due to though?
@@AyushTH I think you're speaking about wax? It's just honey ran off of the wax.
Or crystalization
I did hear that honey found in the pyramids was still completely edible 🤔😳 I'm extremely curious on how this experiment goes...
Probably mine is still edible, even though it wasn't in a closed jar
Yes. It was still edible. Honey is known for being highly preservable....
No, the honey in the video has thriving batería life, it's toxic to eat, more because it's non pasteurized honey with honeycomb, it's extremely dangerous to even eat it just after buying it
@@madonbarma2531honey never actually expires, unless it's like, just like sitting out in the open, obviously
@@PhotoOwllol not "probably." IS
It's always nice to get back from the job, to say "Honey, I'm home!" - and realize that honey is still fine
😂😂😂😂
Reading through the comments was very interesting, as usual.
I think I learned honey is definitely a super & superior food source. We really need to take the plight of the humble honey bee more seriously.
As usual, your video(s) are so interesting & beautiful. Thank you for your time & patience & sharing your work with us.🐝
why though? its just sugar with very little additional nutrients
Honey bees are really fine, their population is many, many times over the natural wildlife population, and in North America they are livestock only, never been a wild animal.
It's the other bees that we should be worried about, especially in North America where native bees are highly threatened!
Yeah there is no plight of the honey bee. That myth is going to take decades to die.
In my Opinion honeycomb looks really gross... makes me think of callused skin..
@@arcaearsexactly what I wanted to say! We should be concerned about the many kinds of wild bees - small, big, black, colorful, furry... lots of threatened and valuable species.
You know, almost no change can be just as fascinating as rapid change. So interesting that bees can make something that preserves so well. Almost any other eatable fluid would have completely evaporated all the water out of it and just left a crusty flaky stain… honey walks up to a time-laps like “hold my mead…”
I've been a beekeeper for a few years now, and I can tell you that honey is one of the most organic and most healthiest nutrition you can consume.
My old neighbor used to keep bees, and he used to say the same thing.
I wouldn't say its healthy nutrition, its mostly sugar which everyone consumes too much nowadays
It is just sugar. If you eat it regularly you will get fat, have diabetes and heart diseases

I love how honey looks. I wanna eat it. no, I'm not a bear🐻❄️. I SWEAR I'm not a damn bear I'm just a human who happend to be hungry and I'm waiting for the premiere to start there's nothing bear-like in that!!! What do you mean that's not evidence? Hey hey stop doubting me for a second and look at a mirror 🪞 with all of that hair on your body. Aren't you more fitting to be a bear?
That's exactly what a bear would say...
there is nothing wrong with being a bear. bears are nature's answer to ''i need something big, soft and huggable.'', and nature said ''sure, but it is also capable and willing to eat you.'', which is a fair trade.
bear activity detected 😰⚠
This is going to be interesting because we've found honey not spoiled after like a thousand years but they where sealed this will be out and in the open , I'm looking forward to seeing mold form
I think it will lose some moisture too and crystallize a bit.
@@fartemisfartmallow8647it didn't even crystallize. Now I wonder why sometimes my honey kept in a closed unopened container crystalizes after a year or two
@franka3109 real honey can and does crystallize. It happens when the sugars form solid crystals. You can return it to it's liquid state by gently placing the jar into warm water
@@fullup91
Thanks
@@fullup91 so why didn't this honey crystalize
Wanna time travel? Leave a comment before the premiere! :)
"a comment" the premiere!
Done 👍
Aight
It's interesting that there weren't more insects but it also seems like the lack of moisture could be a factor at the lack of interaction. The parts that were moving though I wonder if it was some type of bacteria that tried to develop. But what an amazing substance honey is, it could probably be preserved forever in a clean and sealed container
Definitely seems like a low humidity environment just made a bit of the water evaporate from it, leaving it too concentrated for anything to grow on it. I'd be interested to see what a high humidity environment would do. My guess is that it might absorb enough moisture from the air to dilute it enough for molds and bacteria to attack it.
Honey does not go bad. There was honey found in King Tut's tomb that was still completely edible.
@@dwerg1 Honey does not go bad. There was honey found in King Tut's tomb that was still completely edible.
@@TallicatGames Ah, yes. Sealed... I SPECIFICALLY said it would be interesting to see what would happen to it in a HUMID environment. I bet it would go bad real quick as it's diluted by air moisture and exposed to microbes.
@@dwerg1 And you would be wrong, which a simple google search would tell you. Honey never goes bad. It does not allow the growth of microbes, fungus or bacteria. Ever.
Honey is hygroscopic- this means it will absorb water from the atmosphere.
Once the water content rises above 20%, honey will ferment.
This is why honey stored correctly in jars stays good- sealed away from absorbing more water.
I suspect the honey hidden away behind the wax cappings will be fine, but the honey on the plate will ferment eventually.
I’M SO EXCITED FOR THIS! Even if it doesn’t do anything, I’m super excited for it, lol!!!!! If bugs are introduced it might be interesting too though, let’s see how it goes!
I hope it will live up to youe expectation. The honey time lapse was long overdue
As of now, the video will be ready in less than 2 hours! My prediction: if insects are not introduced, the honey would remain the same, just maybe a slight difference in color. If ants comes, you will see how the honey would slowly reduce. If flyes comes, you probably would see some mold in the area around where the flyes lands.
Nope.
Way off lol 😂
Close, nothing ended up happening. But you would have been probably right 💯
YOU WERE right lol
I thought ants didn't like honey, unlike sugar syrup. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Had it not been for the beetle - hi friend! Thanks for rescuing him! - and that kinda weird clearness at the end when you pulled it up on the knife lol I wouldve still tried it! Honey is awesome.
Thanks! That beetle sure gave us a little twist. I'm glad you found the video interesting!
Honey is one of those rare items that can be eaten thousands of years later as well as having healing properties. Who knew bee spit and pollen could be so powerful?
the Quran did over 1400 years ago interesting to research
The real question is how did he prevent ants from showing up😅
The key is keeping the area clean. I sanitize and clean soooo much in my studio. It's a challenge but crucial for such time lapses.
@@PhotoOwlDo you have multiple rooms and multiple projects running at the same time?
It's nice to see that you respect animals when you are able to, even if sometimes some of them will die during your experiments.
Anyways, thanks for the work you are providing to us, as of me, I appreciate it a lot ❤

Honey doesn't go bad
Simple and to the point. I like it. I'm very curious though if something will happen or grow on it or something. Maybe it needs to be properly stored? I've had honey that seemed to go bad before but so knows if anything was added to it.
wait it the good original honey they stuff they sell in supermarket or walmart etc simply isnt as good@@sefy5082
it depends on the water content of the honey. i believe above a certain level of water content it can go bad.
@@travv88 I meant to say raw honey. I don't use fake honey. Honey was found in an Egyptian tomb and was still good.
I know. But different honey made with different pollen in different climate/humidity conditions can be a bit more watery. @@RealMTBAddict
I would say i already know this is gonna be so grim but honey never expires because of its properties so unless insects are introduced this is probably gonna be interesting to watch

Engaging with viewers during the premiere makes it special. Glad you had fun!
I found some 15 year old honey from my childhood stored in my mom's cupboard when I was about to move out at age 25, and it still tasted good. Honey doesn't seem to age 🍯
Настоящему меду время не страшно, пчёлы веками оттачивали способ консервации. Это видео нам доказало.
Where can i buy honey like that?
That was really cool of you to remove the beetle so gently! I'm sure he didn't think he was going to survive
Altın Damla balı. Yoksa Türk müydünüz? Bilmiyordum.
There’s a warehouse somewhere just full of rotting food and cameras on tripods
Nooo, when it starts to become fascinating with the honey almost "breathing" (days 220-230), the beetle interrupted this. Please consider doing it in a controlled environment, it was so captivating! I would like how this ends, if it ends at all.
Dude! Honey is a natural preservative! You can use it to "top-up" home made jam's and jelly's. If always kept up strait it well last you years! If there are no contaminates or air pockets in the jam or jelly.

Honey after 4000+ years (Look it up): no
Not sure if this has already been done, but what about a time lapse of something, like a fruit or vegetable, in a jar of honey?
This video just made me want to try honeycomb it looks so good
In honey is a smal amount of H2O2 (by nature). Its hard for anything to live inside or on honey.

I have a question ,ist it possible to feed ur mealworms a human Body in therory ?

This Is aprox work of a 100 Bees over their short 30 day lives...do not waste It. Without Bees this planet will hit the fan.
We will survive without bees, there are many other pollinators however for biodiversity and because a few plants are reliant on bees keeping them around is important
here are those who saw the premiere ;"3!!!
Thanks for catching the premiere! It's great to share these moments live. Hope you enjoyed it.
Considering just how much sugar and liquid is inside of honey, it still surprises me how honey is so invincible.
Ok if honey has been found in tombs still safe to eat from 1000 years ago how long is this video rly gonna be? Or is it a screenshot 🤔
Do honey again, only add millworms or something that can consume it onsite
I want that honeycomb so bad, where do you get this in the UK?
Damn! 😛 I had always wanted to try buying at least a small comb like so and tasting it right from it! 😁
You can chew the comb like a piece of gum :) and it tastes like honey obviously- it's very good! And then u just spit it out when it's not sweet anymore! Because it's wax
@@cheese7119 yeah, I know it is a wax, but damn, from your experience, I want to try it even more! 😂
@@kexcz8276
That pattern you see in the honey is it trying to return to the honey comb shape it had been in before! Honey is weird like that. Scientists arent 100% sure (last i checked anyway) why honey seems to remember its shape but it sure does remember!
We do know why it does that. So why does it? It doesn't. That isn't a thing.
I think I heard the reason honey doesn’t go bad is because it’s like the dead sea (on the opposite spectrum of taste), so sweet that it’s deadly for stuff to grow and thrive on it. Although ants can definitely “spoil” it out by drinking off of it, the room here seems clean and in good condition.
Yes it kills any bacteria that creeps in due to the high concentration just like pickles
I finally understand what they meant by honey never spoil
Idea: Honey, again, but with the classic shelf bear bottle. As beautiful as this is, I think that'll hit the algorithm harder. Love the content, keep it up!
There's Turkish honey in Amerika??

Are you sure he's American?
You've probably answered this a million times, but about how many of these timelapses do you have running at one time?
what makes you think he doesn't do one at a time?
Because then he would obviously only upload once a year, or once every few months!
He can’t literally speed up time, can he? 😅😅

aww, thank you for saving the little darkling! such sweet and goofy beetles!
Honey is indeed something special !
I ate the honey
I'm Predicting that the honey will not spoil
Honey can last for centuries. There is a reason it has been used in dressing wounds and burns in the past.
I've had a bottle of it go bad before, but who knows if anything was added to it that caused that or not. Maybe its the way its stored? I doubt it would still be in a pyramid if bugs could get to it.
@@sefy5082 I was just predicting so later when the video gets posted I will see if I'm right or wrong
At my house there would dog hair on it, especially from my Malinois because they're known for shedding.
The beetle is a flour beetle. Actually a pest, but a beautiful animal. The larvae are used as food for reptiles. There are also significantly larger black beetles. 3-4 cm long. I have these in the terrarium as pets. Almost a hundred beetles.
you got meal worms as pets?!🤢
@@crazyreptileguy Yes, the small mealworms and the large Zophobas, of both also the beetles. The Zophobas are particularly cute. Both the larvae and the beetles.
how did you manage to make this channel
Years ago when I saw an article about archeologists discovering vats of still-edible honey in ancient Egyptian tombs, I never doubted honey again. Now whenever I see an expiration date on a honey jar, I laugh.

Seriously, whoever visits this person needs a gas mask. Guy must’ve got decaying things lying around everywhere with video cameras pointed for a year, due to the frequent uploading
What's the point of packaging and selling honey with the comb like that, is it just a novelty or something? Just seems like an inconvenience when you want to actually use the honey!
i didn't expect it to basically look the same. Interesting indeed! Thank you!
I knew under certain conditions honey can last virtually forever but here I expected it to be devoured by insects, at least. Very interesting!

The author of the video if he knew a year ago that honey does not spoil: 😎
The most boring and also fascinating timelapse. Boring visually. Fascinating technically. Honey is incredibly an: Antiviral; broad-spectrum antibiotic; antifungal; and naturally produces hydrogen peroxide. It is literally immortal food.
this still seems consumable.
Hello future commenters
Hi
That was crazy
fun fact: 8000 year old honey was discovered in Rameses II's tomb perfectly matured and ready for eating. It's worth millions.
It looks like maybe some if the water in honey evaporated, it looks thicker, but that's about it. Not surprising though, since honey found in Egyptian tombs is allegedly still perfectly edible.
I wonder if honey would mold in a super humid environment. It lasts so long since the high sugar solute amount dehydrates any bacteria or mold that lands on it, so slowly diluting the honey should eventually hit the sweet spot where mold can start chowing down.
i mean, technically speaking honeycombs and honey are the bee's building material, and it wouldn't be very cool if your house started just crumbling down because of mold and stuff
It's like when Morgan Spurlock put McDonald's french fries in a glass apothecary and it didn't change even after 30 days....😮🎉
Oldest founded honey was from bronze age.
Very true! The oldest honey was found in Georgia and dates back to the Bronze Age. Long lasting stuff
Did you taste it after? I hear it doesn't go bad.
I can go bad due to moisture I think and the air has water vapour in it so depending on the humidity I think honey can go bad
HI GUYS
Honey has been found in the tombs of pharaohs of ancient Egypt 5,000 years old and was still edible. That's a food that can outlast humanity.
hacı türk olduğunu bilmiyodum, saygılar
How Can you make a videos of All those things? Do you have big building with hundreds of cameras and filming on All of them for decades?
Honey can stay good for centuries. Perhaps you have to melt it, put that's all. There is a good reason why honey was used for mummification.
This persons house must look crazy or smell insane with all these things breaking down. 600 cameras and tiny areas with rotting food 😂😂
Amazing honey is so high and sugar, but doesn't attract flies
Please do a dead fly decomposing, I know its kinda weird im asking for something like that but im genuinely curious on what that would look like.
I found a jar of honey I'd forgotten I had after 10 years, it has comb in it and it's black as crude oil.
I'm hesitant to open it.
Geek fact: Jars full of honey have been found in Egyptian pyramids that were in perfect condition for consumption
So.... I guess you don't attract more flies with honey? 😆 Okay sorry for my bad humor I'll see myself out.
The reason honey is extremely hard to go bad and infested with mold is because less than 20% of it is actually water
but...nothing happened? still, appriciate the video!
