The 7mm suffered from a slow twist rate and chamber issues. 6.8 western fixed it all. With a custom twist barrel and a medium action like the Tikka long action, the 7wsm is a monster. The 300 wsm runs nice in that tikka action as well. It allows you to set the longer bullets further out than the short action mags will let you.
Im happy to see you shooting stuff that does not contain, PRC , or moore. Although I shoot the modern cartridges, it is nice to get WSM, SAUM out of the dugout for an inning or two. 7 WSM brass is hard to come by.
That's awesome results from that 28 Nosler, and pretty darn good from that 7WSM. N560, N565, and N570 are absolutely wonderful powders. Tough luck on the 300 - sometimes large rifle primers do well in the short mags and sometimes they don't - never know till ya try.
3000 fps for the 175 eldx in a 3 inch cartridge is nuts, that bullet is like 1.7” long goin down into the case. Thanks for the hypothesis/explanation of the 300, that was wild. And sad.
Great group tou can try some slower powder i seem to have better luck for those large capacity cases. I had trouble with my 300 RUM and i finally tried 29n41 20n29 and then US869 and it was the fastest tightest group and most consistent
Gotta get me some of them Hammer bullets for my 28 Nosler, R. Dubb. So far, it likes the lighter 168 grain Nosler AccuBond LR bullets. Going heavier with the Hammers is an option worth considering.
@ReloadingWeatherby Sub MOA with Retumbo at 100 yards out of a Nosler M48 Liberty rifle. Printing one inch groups consistently at 200. That's going to kill anything I'm liable to shoot at in North America out to about 500 yards. It's a hunting rifle, not a benchrest instrument. Wouldn't hesitate to take the shot if it presents itself. Haven't practiced shooting any farther than that.
I got to 69.0 grains H1000 in one of my 7PRCs with 175 ELDX, 24" barrel. No pressures yet. Need to keep going but your 7WSM is shooting faster. My one shot at 69.0 grains was 2943fps. However, I have noticed with H1000 and Retumbo some velocity differences lot to lot last year and this year. The newer lots are shooting slower in both.
I was having slight hang fires with win large rifle. Switched back to mags and no more. Secondly do a video on Accurate MagPro. I have outstanding results with it in my 300Rum. Seems to be a little obscure secret from what I’ve read on forums. Wish I could send you a pic of my five shot group
@dhooter MagPro is the best powder I've seen for 270 WSM. It really shines with 140 grain bullets of just about any flavor. I shoot them out of my Browning semi-auto. Another sleeper in the short magnum cartridges and showing promise in my load development for 170 grain Nosler AccuBond LR and lead soft point boat tail bullets is Norma 217. I understand it's the powder used in Norma factory magnum loads. I've also used it in my Nosler bullet handloads for 300 Wby and 30-378 Wby. I've also tried it with 170 grain weight bullets in my 6.8 western load development. Although the results were good, they weren't as good as what I got with IMR-7828 and Retumbo. Your mileage may vary.
@@bustabass9025 Don’t think I can get my hands on Norma powder. I can’t even find retumbo or H1000. Unfortunately H1000 was the best so far with Magpro second. I’d like to try US869 as it’s reasonably priced and available where I live
@@ReloadingWeatherby I have a 7 rem mag now. But I’m a velocity junkie and have been playing around with hammer bullets. Which cartridge would you choose next between the Nosler and Weatherby?
@@HotRod7mm What Weatherby would you be considering? The 28 Nosler has been tough to load for. Not because of the recoil... it needs to be in a heavier contour barrel.
These wsm cartridges are sooooo underrated . Especially that 7mm.

Love when you add in some 300 WSM .. awesome video as always 😎
Thanks for watching

The 28 Nosler is pure bad assery despite the wicked recoil and muzzle blast.

28 nosler is the ultimate long range hunting round if you get it to shoot. It def has been finicky for me but im driving mine very hard.

What kind of accuracy you getting with the 168 ABLR?

7mm WSM has a little bit smaller case capacity. So with the same amount of powder it will be faster
Don’t worry about the footage bro just keep the vids coming… I should get some footage of my screaming fast 300wsm
Do it
What is your load? My 300WSMs are in the queue to do more testing at the end of this month
@@Accuracy1st I’m using 64.5 gr of reloader 17 with 175 Barnes lrx doing 3150 fps with no signs of pressure

Great stuff 🎉🎉
Thanks
The heck with the 28 Nosler. If you have a 340 Weatherby , you don't need another magnum. Barrel life is even longer in the 340.
28 Nosler is my dad's gun
Where u get a right side driving pickup???😂
What’s the recoil on the 28 Nosler like as compared to a 300 Weatherby?
28 Nosler is snappier

People gonna watch this and think they can buy a 28 and get these groups lol
Haha. With a lot of work and luck
😂😂
Obviously a single 3 shot group is meaningless statistically. Repeat it 10 times, and then you have something! Show us that!
