      You’re telling me! We are ridiculously lucky that of all the things he could be doing he agrees to spend this much time filming sewing videos!!

    Short guy here, goodwill was 50% off today, stocked up on four cashmere/ wool jackets, two of them got this treatment.
    Saved thousands by thrifting, saved hundreds by following your videos. I cant believe what i'm able to wear for less than the cost of a new pair of levis

    Exactly what I needed to shorten a suit jacket with tails that my son gave me to shorten into a normal jacket. He bought it for £15 in Next, (from £75) and presumed I could do it. I CAN, with this fantastic video! Thank you so much!

    These videos are very useful and easy to understand! I have a lot of trouble with tutorials usually, but I feel like I really know what you're doing. I have a suit off the rack that I had to get a jacket a little too far from my measurements in order to fit in the trousers, so these will be very useful as I get it to look right

    My seamstress refuses to try and shorten my sport coats because of the rounded edges. She did a good job on my Crombie style coat. No curves

  • @dawnmarsh7712
    @dawnmarsh7712 4 месяца назад

    I am 5 foot tall with wide shoulders. Muscular arms and a small waist and hips. I do a lot of formal meetings for my job. Shortening sleeves and hems is common for me. But sometimes I find myself wishing I could take advantage of the seam allowance and get a little more room around my biceps. I would love a video on that! 😊

    • @sewshowwithshae
      @sewshowwithshae  4 месяца назад

      I would love that too… unfortunately, even in an expensive jacket, I very rarely find more than a quarter inch of seam allowance. They tend to trim that down so that it will follow the curve of the arm so that it will sit smoothly but it means that I’m almost never able to let it out.

I'm not sure if you have done it already but if you wouldn't mind, I would love to see a video on how to take in the shoulders of a sports coat. That would be awesome! Again thank you so much, I know it takes a lot of time to make these videos. ❤️

    For suit jackets that have interfacing, what is the best weight to use?

    • @sewshowwithshae
      @sewshowwithshae  Год назад +1

      We typically use a weft fusible in a soft grey color, I’m not sure what the weight is actually but I like the roll that comes in a 3 inch width.

    Hi
    How to do the opposite, which is to lengthen jacket?

  • @newinspiration2108
    @newinspiration2108 Год назад

    This is awesome!
    however, there's a potential issue with shortening a jacket from the hem - the pocket and proportion of the jacket may be thrown out of place.
    I've seen some alterations tailors shortening a jacket both at the hem and the shoulder.
    Would you consider doing a tutorial on how to shorten a jacket from the shoulder?
    Thank you for always sharing your knowledge!

    • @sewshowwithshae
      @sewshowwithshae  Год назад +3

      True, I wouldn’t go more than 3 inches from the bottom for the pocket portion issue. And I will be honest, I personally wouldn’t shorten from the shoulder due to the way it would affect every other proportion, especially the arm hole shape.

    I want to crop a suit jacket I have.. would you personally just cut through the whole thing and rehem accordingly? My main concern is actually that I want to crop it kind to where the lapel starts to end. I wouldn't be closing it so the button isn't an issue, just the lapel.
