No make a Movie 🎥 about him
Those side by side photos proving they were in the same place at the same time but not having ones of them together is heartbreaking.
It's so sad. I am glad he was able to find love even if he couldn't be open about it :/
sad it's still happening in conservative countries.
but at least with social media and pop culture those people know they are not alone and that their suffering isn't normal or ok and they have hope one day they can be in peace.
@@HisameArtwork _"sad it's still happening in conservative countries"_
Sad it's still happening in -conservative- backward, uncivilised countries, like the Untied States.
There, I fixed it for you...
I’m old enough to remember when he died. I think I was about 14 or so. I ended up becoming a paramedic and I worked during the tail end of the huge AIDS crisis. That disease is awful. Worse than that. Nobody deserves to go through What these poor people had to suffer with. And there was such a stigma. I am so glad that we can talk about it now and that his story can be told. It is so sad that he couldn’t live his life the way he should’ve been able to. He should’ve been able to be free. I hope this documentary does him justice.
They shouldn’t have done it in that position then 🤢
@@salomebelen terrible thing to say
What position?
@@salomebelen just go away! The people on this site love & admire Mr. Hudson! Go find somewhere else to spew your homophobic hatred!🌈🧡💛🤍💜🖤❤️💙🤎🦋
@@salomebelen thanks for popping in to remind us that bigots are profoudly crippled by cowardice.
I am 55 year old black family man from Compton and South Central and my wife and I are admirers of Mr. Rock Hudson. The documentary was excellent!God bless his soul and I pray that it is on an enlightened journey.
Hopefully, you guys did him justice and not dirty. High hopes cause Rock went through a lot and his story deserves to be told, correctly.
This exactly^^^
Agree
Agreed. Hopefully they don't give much credence to that money grubbing little sod that sued after Rock died.
Very well said.completely agree.
Here here.
Young people need to watch documentaries like this. My mother did not come out of the closet until she was in her fifties. She wasn't selfish or fooling my father. It was out of necessity and fear. Growing up in the 1930s-1960s, especially in religious households, you ran the risk of being abandoned by everyone you knew, losing your job, your children, or worse, jail and possibly being murdered. Go down the rabbit hole of TV and movie stars who had to stay closeted: Troy Donohue, Rock Hudson, Robert Reed. It's heartbreaking. More of these stories need to be told.
I was 10 years old when I first heard about his battle of AIDS. The last appearance he did with Doris Day broke my heart. God bless Elizabeth Taylor for creating AMFAR, and now, with moden technology and medication, people are living longer. AIDS is no longer a death sentence. I wish Rock lived a little longer to get the medications to live. The Reagans refused to make the AIDS epidemic a priority until 1987. By then, thousands of people died of the disease. Hopefully this documentary will give Rock Hudson the appreciation and kindness that he finally deserves which he didn't receive during the last few years of his life.
Elizabeth 💪🏽🥰
about his battle of AIDS? and who won?
Beautiful ,sweet man.His kindness made him much loved in the Hollywood community. He loved children animals, music.
,,being in and around water,travelling.
Pray this documentary treats him with dignity.
He was treated badly when it was revealed that he had aids, even after he died. Liz Taylor stood by him. They are both in a better place now!
They’re both dust. Is that a better place?
I don' t know what you mean, "he was treated badly", he still had a career. He was in Dynasty. It didn't affect his job, only his health. I think people found out about his AIDS only AFTER he died.
I loved how Doris Day and Elizabeth Taylor were good friends of Rock Hudson that stood by him no matter what. However, that was the beginning of the scare of "Aids" that became such a great concern to all of us. It was sad he was the first actor to die from aids. May Rock rest in peace.
What an icon. He was such an incredible actor. RIP Rock.
Rock Hudson was a great actor. I loved everything he did. It was a terrible tragedy that he died of aids but it did bring people to realize that aids needed to be dealt with and not treated as punishment for an alternative lifestyle. I am a very happy straight guy but I have the utmost respect for Rock Hudson.
Rock Hudson, a legendary actor. I loved his performances in his Rom-Com Trilogy with the great Doris Day: Pillow Talk, Lover Come Back, and Send Me No Flowers. And of course, he gave a tour de force performance in Giant alongside Elizabeth Taylor and James Dean.
As people have already said, I hope they do him justice in this documentary.
What a beautiful human being he was. So sad that he lived in a era when being himself was illegal. I loved watching Rock Hudson in anything he was in when I was growing up. This looks like it will be a very poignant documentary.
You knew him?
What a beautiful documentary and tribute about a beautiful soul! No one said a bad word about him. So heartwarming & sad at the same time. ❤ Well done
AID's is a horror that has left many of us, who survived, traumatised to this day from experience of witnessing the horrible deaths and losses which wiped out an entire generation of beautiful men. Rock provided a face to our collective tragedy early on during our 'pandemic' and in so, helped humanise our suffering and shift public opinion in our favour from the horrible fear and loathing which we initially experienced. RIP Rock!
My nephew died of aids He was a pleasant talented successful man. In the end he was treated like garbage in the morgue where we were allowed to see him We will never forget that
I did not get a chance to watch the documentary about Rock Hudson. I will. I was starting my journalism career when his publicist, Dale Olson, scheduled an at home interview with him. The last at home was about 12 years prior and I was told by many that he hated doing interviews. I remember the magazine editors asking me to hammer the rumors about AIDS but I chose not to. It didn't feel right. It was up to him to share whatever he wanted to share. He was a dignified, private man totally not affected by his fame and fortune. He opened the door for us and invited us in. Even though gaunt, and probably in pain, he was welcoming and friendly. I remember asking him to pause here and there in his garden, by his pool, by his books ... and he obliged. I had no idea that it would be his last interview.
That's so sad about Rock Hudson. I'm glad someone finally made a documentary about him.
He was my absolute favorite male actor of the golden age 😢Just divine!
He was gorgeous; the epitome of tall, dark and handsome. It’s sad that he lived during that time period because I think, his looks and talent would work in any era.
He was gorgeous with kind eyes and a kind smile
By all accounts, he was a beautiful person. I hope this is done tastefully and respectfully.
Why are there so many commemts from people who didn't watch the program? First time I've ever seen that. I suppose I know why. Virtue Signaling is no virtue folks...
uh, not what i was doing but presumptuous and judgemental aren't good looks.
i grew up watching old movies; i'm a fan --- and i know he had a lot of friends. seemed like a nice man. from other docs i have watched, they don't always paint people in such a positivie light, when there are few left to refute.@@atatterson6992
0:39 "Hiding in closets isn't going to cure you." 😂😂
I hope it treats Rock Hudson with dignity.
Absolutely
Sad, tragic life. I hope he's found the peace he deserved.
Rock IS an Icon, and a beautiful man.
Believe it or not there were rumors, but I didn't care because he was a good actor and proved himself with an Oscar Nomination for "GIANT." He should have won and wonderful in this role. I still miss him and wished he was still with us.
In 1983 I was a 3rd year medical student when I saw my first case of AIDS at a huge public hospital. That was just the start. Nobody told AIDS or Rock Hudson jokes because it was all so overwhelming and horrifying.
Glad some ppl had some empathy. I'm not old enough to remember the AIDS epidemic as I'm only 30. But reading and watching stuff about it or related to it rly breaks my heart. It's amazing how much has improved
Seconds is one of my favourite movies. Glad to see Rock Hudson's legacy being reexamined.
"Seconds" is a stone-cold classic. Unfortunately, the overall bleakness of the film caused his fanbase to stay away in droves. He never acted in such a dramatic way ever again.
I loved Rock Hudson and Doris Day movies 😂
Those was the days.
I think I have Pillow Talk, Send Me No Flowers, and Lover Come Back memorized. 😊
It makes so sad that he lived so many years, practically his whole life, hidding who he was.
And to think some want us to go backwards
@@lorettanericcio-bohlman567 I don't think ppl want that.
What a beautiful beautiful man.
I can't wait to watch this. Well done, HBO. Heartbreaking how he had to hide who he was.
Rock Hudson was both a remarkable actor and incredibly handsome man. He had such kissable lips and smooth abs.
Maupin said Rock had his own poppers, only bottoms have their own poppers, that's what killed him
*Rock Hudson deserves all the respect.*
The man was an icon of the American Dream, represented a gilded era of America and was a down to earth human being, kind and nice.
May his soul rest in peace for ever!
He’s an icon
About time we had a well produced HBO Documentary on him. Happy Pride 🌈
Rock Hudson, along with Freddie Mercury, helped to bring the aids epidemic to the forefront of Pop culture. I remember on an episode of the Flintstones were they did a parity of him, it was quite funny, as well as cute. He definitely was The guy females wanted when Tina Louise mentioned him in an episode of Gilligan’s Island..
It’s horrible that he was forced to live in a closet and to die of AIDS. That poor man.
All that heaven allows is a good movie. It should be available again.
Hiding in closets isn't going to cure you but it did keep you safe back then. Rock Hudson was so good looking and lived a interesting life. This is going to be good and fascinating. On my watch list!
What you mean didn't cure you.
@@rickoverySadly, he died of AIDS. That is probably what they were referring to when they said he wasn't cured. He wasn't able to be cured of that terrible disease.😢
@@jenniferhansen3622 The person recommended the closet as a safe place. Now it's also called the down-low. It causes death. Try re-reading, or get a grown-up to help you read it.
@@akrenwinkle okay 😊
Another non viewer commenting on a documentary... so strange
Hope this does well by him. Beautiful man inside and out💞
I loved Rock Hudson in McMillan and Wife when I was young, every movie he made was fab, now I’m older I see what a tortured soul he must have been to have to hide his sexuality at that time, whereas now no one would bat an eyelid, the guy was up there with the best 🌟 😢
Between him, Anthony Perkins, and Tab Hunter, it's really disheartening knowing what they went through. Hope this documentary is good.
Anthony could have a great career, What a waste!
Will be watching. Just revisited Giant with James Dean and Rock - great film.
I heard there was tension between Hudson and James on set.
Another reason this doc is interesting is for the extraordinary clips of the movies. This is a really well edited production that will get you excited about watching classics. John Frankenheimer's Seconds (1966), Holy Moses I wasn't ready for that.
Rock is one of those people that with his life, paved the way for the LGBTQ+ community to be open and coukd work free not only in entertainment industry but whatever they chose without compromising their identify.
Excess results in entitlement. Good reminder that even though new generations might have born in a different world than him, all those rights can be taken away in the blink of an eye.
And in pride month nonetheless, clap clap
he didn't pave the way for anybody, he stayed in the closet to his dying day and protested way too much about being homosexual. he wasn't even considerate enough to not give his partner aids. you have no idea who you're talking about.
Paved the way by being closeted?
@@strnglhldright
@@strnglhld look, of that's all you got... I mean, there's not much I could do
One of the most handsome men I ever seen in my entire life!
THE most handsome man that I have ever seen from his hair to his legs. I could look at him for hours!
Finally a real star worth talking about. Luv Rock❤️❤️❤️
Watch Seconds. His greatest performance.
I'm watching this trailer and I'm like there is an contemporary actor that looks just like him. I pause at 0:48 because in this shot it finally hits me. I don't see Rock Hudson, I see Miles Teller. It is shocking how alike they look.
Been to an optometrist lately?
@@akrenwinkle you could just say you disagree. No need to be an AH.
@@boutux. Oh, come on, that was funny. I grew up watching my moms old movies and thinking Cary Grant and Rock Hudson were so handsome. Miles Teller is handsome, but I don’t think he is Pillow Talk looking Rock Hudson hot. Zac Effron is probably more on that level of hotness….but I don’t think he is a big/tall as Rock Hudson.
@@anneb889 No it wasn't. You think Zac Efron looks like Rock Hudson ? My comment wasn't about the attractiveness of either actor, they just look alike to me. Maybe do a Google image search and put them side by side? Maybe then we would be able to decide for sure.
Seconds was my first introduction to him and he was awesome
"...the fact that rock had lived his life not able to express who he was and it had come to that." So who was he, really? I read "Rock Hudson: His Story" and came away from it thinking he was grieving for never having been his true self.
He was soooooo gorgeous. I bet he looked even more mesmerizing in person. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
He was a human skeleton when he died, only 126 pounds on a 6 feet four inches frame
His acting was just amazing
Great leading man. His fight scene in Giant is classic. Good haunted quality. Looks good.
I was seven years old when he died. Even at that age I knew it was a huge deal. I remember there was really crass “joke” that was being said about him. I wouldn’t bother to say what it was. It was really bad. No wonder he stayed in the closet.
This was so good!
Why hasnt there been a movie or mini series about him
because it is difficult to find an actor as handsome as him
he is a character in the ryan murphy series Hollywood, but it doesn't go very in depth
@@themindofceline and “Hollywood” is like 95% fiction. Not saying it was bad though, I love it. It’s very wholesome.
There was a network TV movie in the late 80's, I think.
@Rick Hall: There's actually a few lesser known documentaries in addition to one TV movie docudrama.
You're looking at it.
Remember, I was 11 years old when he died...and the world finally get AIDS was a real thing in real life
Truly sad how Ronald Reagan treated that man he was supposed to be his friend...................................
On top of him getting AIDS can you imagine the stress of that AND being outed so disrespectfully by the public after being in the closet his whole life/ career? Must have been devastating ❤rip rock
It broke my heart to learn he was dying of the virus, if he had just a little more time he might have been saved. RIP Big Fella 🌹
He would have lived at 11 more years before the life-saving medications came our in 1996. People with AIDS just didn't that long.
Rest In Peace🙏🤍🕊🙏♥️

Oh I
Love the old Hollywood icons
So sad how the human body ages and gets ill
Wish we could live forever young!
Society and homophobia did him in. He would be so happy to see LGBTQIA celebrities be themselves now!
aids did him in. you can't get by unless you take responsibility for your actions.
from memory, he did come out publicly at the very end of his life in announcing he had AIDS and was surprised at the positive response. also i’ve heard by the mid 1960s when he was no longer box office # 1 among friend he was comfortably out. still things have change so much since when he died!
This looks wonderful. Just need a good doc on Tony Perkins now!
Will this documentary be released on dvd?
Love, always.
I have an amazing story. One time I was driving home and I felt the presence of the Lord, come down to me from above. I started getting chills and I felt so comfortable with Him.
I knew if I asked Him to play a song on the radio, He would.
So I said "Ok Lord, play Come as you are..."
I didn't know what station it was on or anything, but I turned the radio on and the song started playing right on the spot, perfectly...
I started getting flooded with chills inside, and started crying. When I got home, He stayed with me for 10 minutes till I got out of the car.
I've been getting amazing prayers answered for around 5 years since, because that experience made me stop doubting when I pray, and I follow Biblical instructions, best I can.
Your silly post is totally irrelevant to this video or of any of the other comments
I have a better story. I lived life without God and Jesus as my crutch. I have gotten through life without fairytales of a man walking on water and turning it into wine. I’ve not needed a book to clutch around with me everywhere I go to spread nonsense, and I most certainly don’t have to go around spread falsehoods of being collected as a soul and whisked away somewhere.
Ok, so you are saying that the same God who didn't want to cure Rock and milions of others suffering AIDS (or any other cruel ilness), just let people die because what he actually wants to be is a dj? Cool. Work more on your religious spam, I'm sure you can make up a better story than this.🤦🏻♀️
God is a bad DJ?
@@marknewbold2583 I had decided I would pray every day for God to give me a powerful testimony, till it happened. So I could be more effective for the Lord, by helping people to Christ and strengthening their faith. After around 8 months or so, it happened.
Then I started getting amazing prayers answered because it blessed my faith. There have been 3 people at one church I used to go too, who had stage 4 cancer and the church prays for them and they've been healed over night.
I had a woman call me not too long ago and she told me she was healed from schizophrenia after I prayed for her a long time ago.
We had a deaf woman at my other church who was healed by church prayer and can hear.
Last year, I told a co-worker 2 stories and asked if I could pray for him and he said yeah. I grabbed his hands and prayed for his family, finances, and things. I came to work 4 days later. He said he had gotten promoted to GM Manager over a bunch of different stores. Getting paid from 900 to 1600, max tips on reg, and his wife was getting insane overtime money. I mentioned that we prayed and he looked at me like he saw a ghost.
I really need a movie based on his story ❤
I can't wait to watch this.😊
His blonde bro in the 60s was incredibly good looking. He sure knew how to pick em.
Oh, this will be shown on my birthday…perfect😊
How come there hasn't been a movie biopic (theatrical release) on the life and career of Rock Hudson?
Hard to find someone as good looking *and* personable/charming as him to play him?
@@morkandmindy7826 What about Robert Redford?
Here it is right here
Would make for a great movie. But studios are probably nervous about putting up the money for something that could be considered niche. It would probably need a fairly big budget to recreate movie sets and such.
Saw this. It was excellent, very entertaining.

Even after all these years, Rock's death makes me sad - His "political" friends turn their backs on him, to cater to the religious right.
His real friends didnt and that just shows what a genuine man he was❤
is not available in Latam :(
Its not his fault. Hollywood had high demands and expectations for actors and for studios themselves, that some had to bury their personals lives so they could still work
I love this movie I don't care how cheesy and 50's it is, its a rewatchable
First of all it's not a movie. And has even been aired yet on HBO.
And neither cheezy or from the 50's

I hope people are making this off the back of Rock Hudson life, gives some of the money made to the Aids Foundation.
Who's the actor sitting next to him at : 50 ... eating .,?????
