I only managed to upgrade my Sword of Night and Flame to +5 before 1.03 dropped and I already thought it was absurdly powerful, but this next level. It was obvious it was going to get nerfed and this video is a good reminder of why it's a good thing.
Considering it's externally tampering and altering the game files, I get that approach. Current version is what the devs would like people to use, anything else seems almost disrespectful to them. So no, LimCube's wrong in that response.

@@skyleite2065 by going back patches, you are essentially avoiding the current game. If you expect people to watch your runs and RESPECT them, than you need to run on the current version. If the current version can't be glitched, then speedrun it the old fashion way, without glitching. Going back patches is just a way to limit competition.
@@slowmobius2136 you can down patch but it's a pain But yeah my main build is faith / int caster My advice rush 40 vit early then run around grab some somber stones to get the sword to at least plus 5 (scaling is based on weapon upgrades) Then you start getting you damage stats in a good spot I started as an astrologer but I think any of the magic classes will work fine, heck if your crazy a wretch could probably do it For talismans go from the two scorpions, shard of jar/Alex and then last slot is sort of a flex In PvE I use filagree for sustainability, but dany damage booster could be great And in PvP goat talisman because you don't want to be knocked out of your weapon skill Also a build like this means you get access to all available magic so lots of fun stuff for you to play with Finally if you make the build and don't like the sword, try Deaths poker instead, mostly an int weapon but work well in the same build, and you get an extra flex talisman slot since you won't need fire scorpion I use it as my swap for a lot of stuff just because it's fun
Get the serpent hunter blade from the start of the rykard fight and upgrade it. Then stand right next him in the lava spamming weapon art. Makes the fight super easy.
Crazy how they buffed then nerfed sword of night and flame back to back updates. I am playing on version 1.00 because I wanted to see how it was and it's very very different empty chests everywhere missing weapons different names for stuff different arts for ashes of war Sorcery and incarnations different enemies in different locations like besides the snow men as soon as you get in lyndell it's a gargoyle and those annoying imps also once you get to the street you no longer fight 1 erdtree avatar you fight 2 there is things missing like buildings that had good loot etc. I just don't understand why release the game in a very undone state if you're just going to fix everything in a month just wait one more month. If I didn't have wifi to update I would be pissed. The game feels and looks like a beta test but it's the whole game even the health mana stamina bars are ugly as hell. Anyone with internet that can update your game delete the application turn off your internet then download it again make sure it's version 1.00 and then play it. If you're wondering how many empty chests there is I've found 7 so far and most have been I'm dungeons you still have to fight 5 or 6 enemies or 2 really strong enemies just to open a chest with nothing In it. Oh yeah there is also missing talismans and armor. Like when you get the piece of the medallion from the guy that was a statue in 1.00 now a pot when you fast travel back to the roundtable and fight him you don't get his armor you don't get the big boy armor the one with a big stomach and the big helmet/hat it's no longer In the church or whatever it is by the sewers it's a church in this game with no bed or anything also you don't get rannis snow witch clothes there Is kinda alot you don't get lol.
A few other things too: Sword of Night and Flame requires only 12 Int and 12 Faith instead of 24 and hits like a truck! Rivers of blood has a different Ash of War moveset, longer wind up time and only does one blood slash instead of two slashes No Meteorite staff No Jellyfish shield No Crystalian Ashes and no crystal weapons Different spell names/places names. For some reason there is a giant dragon in Farum Azula where Alexander usually is. He breathes fire when trying to rush through the lower levels. In Lyndell capital there are no bubble enemies and lyndell soldiers replaced by stone imp enemies Many item locations are in different places. Enemies chase you for longer distances before resetting I find enemies enemies and bosses generally do more damage Merchant sell different items. They dont really sell armour/shields/ upgrade shards Upgrade shard names were terrible, instead of the number system we have now. eg. 'large somber polar smithing stone'
Daaaamn. I had no idea! Patch 1.0.1 is what most ppl played since that patch hit before the actual release date. Didn't know the retail disc version was so incomplete, from was patching things up until the very last moment huh. Kinda reminds me of how the first sonic game didn't have the, survive as long as you have 1 ring condition until the very end
I really like how people have found out how to beat the game without standard methods. But at that same time I just know these types of tactics are being used by 12 year olds who will then shit on me for taking 20 hours to beat the game using my Guts build
It's actually faster to just ride past the Dragon burnt ruins, take the teleporter behind the 3rd church of Marika, and then ride right past Greyoll and the Putrid Avatar and use the spirit spring behind the tree to get to the Fort Faroth area. Also a substantially smaller chance of dying so not only is it faster but safer and more consistent. Just a better path. Edit: seeing how later you go here anyways for the flask and to fight the Avatar you run past, this makes this route even more efficient you can hit everything in 1 path rather than making the detour to Caelid at all. This one change in routing can save you substantial time in your runs.
Yeah I think it’s pretty cheap tbh, albeit it still entertaining. Imo if you’re speedrunning any game and want to make it competitive surely it has to be on the most up to date version, I don’t know how they came up with the idea of using an older version of the game so you can be more OP lol. Just makes it impossible to be a recognised and respected format.
What? Speedruns are done in rulesets that are agreed upon in the community. If there's a category for downpatching, of course the run is valid in that category.
i so badly wanted to like eldin ring- i found it to be an endless queue of enemies with a ugly/beautiful backdrop world i couldn't interact with. no puzzles, no joy.. botw for the incel crowd????
It's the current fastest version, imagine people set a record on the current version at the time, say 1.02, then when 1.03 comes out and Night and Flame gets nerfed, now current runners are at a disadvantage when trying to beat the previous records

The game has been changed and updated, so the older runs are no longer valid… time to get to grips with the mechanics of the new update and go back to the drawing board. Using older versions goes against the essence of speed running. That is just my take on it though and by no means do I think my take is the only valid one.
@@MultiLoofer from my understanding, it's the communities choice on how to rule something. If the community mostly agrees that it's more fun to do it this way, then that's how it will be. If it's ever split by the community or something just sounds like a good idea, often times, different categories are made. Like glitchless and glitch allowed, version based runs (like Minecraft), all bosses or Any % or 100% completion. Speed runs can whatever you want em to be in terms of rules.
Have tried to like this sword but the skills are too slow. Always get my ass kicked before i can get it off. Switch to better weapon. Sad as it looks cool as hell
Can still go back to version 1.00 on console, just create a new Playstion profile otherwise it will detect the old saves with higher firmware version and not allow you to start the game

Sword of night and flame is still really good, just no longer busted
if you rest at the grace before the dragon dies you get about 50000 and he is still alive (doesnt work with pickled foot)
I kill the dragon 6 times so I can dual wield with the grafted greatsword I usually grab the scarseel while there
So that's why the sword of nigth and flame did less damage.... I thougth the enemies just got much harder....
