He wrote most of their stuff even guided Chester on how to sing their songs.
Chester doesn't own the long scream. Anyone can use it and shouldn't be accused of trying to emulate him by doing so. I would argue that maybe there was some motivation to try and be like Chester, but only because they knew certain fans would be childish and cry about how she can't do the job. I don't think she was trying to compete with Chester, but rather either just thought it would sound good in the song and/or there was an element of lets prove she can do it. Because the amount of hate she gets is ridiculous. And it's always the same shit. They are damned if they do, damned if they don't.
The long scream is something that most LP fans expect her to be able to do as a vocalist for this band. This song showcases her screaming ability and the fact that she can hold that scream for a long time, similar to Chester's. And the big breath after the scream is an artistic choice, they could have edited that out. You should check out the interview with Zach Sang, they talk about this scream. It's 16 seconds on purpose, one second shorter than Chester's in Given Up to honor that achievement.

The heavy breath at the end is not a fail, they could have easily remove that in post production and be good but they didn't, it shows us how hard this technique is and having to take a deep breath at the end is completely natural. The fact that she has so many haters and enormously more fans means that she's doing something good.
