- We all work in Cairo, Egypt, and decided it would be fun to learn the ukulele together. We've been playing for 3 months, and this is our first full song! We first heard it after seeing a video by ukuleleeric on RUclips, so check out his channel. We borrowed some of his adapted lyrics, and rewrote some ourselves.
We shot the video one Saturday morning in the streets and shops around Khan-El-Khalili (in the heart of Cairo's "proper" old bazaar) with the help of the wonderful people of the area. As you'll see, they were incredibly good fun to be around and they all enjoyed having a go on our ukuleles! Hopefully you'll be able to get a feel for what a great place Egypt is to live in from this video.
A felucca is a traditional Egyptian sailing boat; we merged this name with ukulele to make our name: The Felukulules!
We'd particularly like thank:
the staff of Fishawy's coffee shop for the best mint tea in Cairo
*Mohamed in his bric-a-brac shop for the use of all the props
Ashraf in the Tentmaker's Bazaar
Hisham the taxi driver for getting us around
Dan for his help with filming
Well done! I even felt a bit homesick for Cairo watching the video....
Winner! BRAVO!
I am not sure about what to do: to smile because this beautiful performance, or to cry because I miss Cairo with all my heart!
