    Thanks for covering both Masties and Carnivorous plants! I like both! I wish I could grow masties and dracs but I can never get them cool enough. I tried a few over the years but they never make it. Recently had a few dracula 'lotax" die. Lovely little plant with a great clown faced flower.

      Dracula lotax that’s the one where the spikes come upwards, nice looking plant sorry you lost them. Glad you understand why I do different videos, all in one would be too much excitement for some people 😂 thanks for watching and commenting.

    nice video i never tried D.regia seeds (i never got some :( but good to know your technique. I usually did root cuttings and put the cutted roots in new peat which works fine.

    King sundew's grow in dryer environments so sitting in water is not good for them.

    • @MicksMasdevalliaorchids
      @MicksMasdevalliaorchids  2 года назад +1

      I’ve also got them growing in the bog of my garden pond, and the grower I got the original plants off grows them in a water based tray. So there must be different ways to grow them.

  • @atomic626
    @atomic626 Год назад

    Hi. You mentioned you keep them in about a inch of water. How tall is the container that the soil is in? I can get mine to germinate but i think i kill them by watering them incorrectly. Thanks

    • @MicksMasdevalliaorchids
      @MicksMasdevalliaorchids  Год назад

      I’ve used this method for many years now and it’s always worked for me and a couple of my viewers, first thing to consider is are your seeds viable and secondly if you think the top moss is drying out mist spray with water each morning and once you’re seeds have germinated remove the lid completely, just ensure that the bottom tray never dries out, hope this helps buddy.

    • @atomic626
      @atomic626 Год назад

      This does. I had some seedlings germinate and die but I recently after reading your comment transplanted some in pure spagnum with water at the bottom of the container. In 2 days they already have few and appear better. I think I was a little too cautious about letting regia have wet roots and that hurt things. The water seems to be helping now.

    Mick with the regia seeds after they sprout do you have to feed them and if so with what and when? Thanks

    • @MicksMasdevalliaorchids

      To be honest I leave them alone until I transfer them they seem to survive let’s remember who would feed them in their natural habitat?

Thanks man, furthest I got with these seeds. Osmocote was killing them I guess. When do you usually transplant? And when you do, you still let them sit in a inch of water?

      Alexia I just take my own seeds and just sprinkle them onto of a peat moss substrate and water in, then stand the pot in a tray of about 1 inch of water and wait for them to germinate .
