The saying you were looking for is: Cheap, Good, Fast - Pick 2. Such a great episode, I love when you guys are just off script and chatting most of the time.
Awesome being featured here again!🔥🔥 the back of the harpoon is a great place to put the tip of your pointer finger. It’s great for Ben’s “finger length” blades!!
As a mechanical / manufacturing engineer, following the iteration of an idea from low-fidelity “Cardboard Aided Design” to polished final product in this way is super fun and fascinating to me. Please, more segments like this first 10 minutes!
Great video! Really informative. Regarding “what is a harpoon blade for?” One functional use, if the “poon” is high up on the blade towards the handle, is a thumb rat ramp for a nice choke up spot if you have to really push cut, or a spot for your finger if you wanna use a pinch grip for detail work. Come on Ben! You’ve been around the world much longer and deeper and know a lot more about knives than just about any of us! 🙂
Went to the Layton store today. I want a Lander 4 fixed blade with the leather sheath so bad. The fitment and size is amazing. The gentleman employee was doing such a great job. The end of January can’t come soon enough.
Thanks a lot for this entertaining episode… I was about to write, until I saw the end with us singing the “Lander Song”. Oh boy. That was sooo bad. 😂 Reminds me of Paul Simon’s “people writing songs that voices never share” 😅 But I remember the great time we had… (BTW, sorry for ignoring your high five, just didn’t see it. I was still in shock because of my singing “performance”.)
Ben, just wanted to say thanks for your awesome style and even cooler knife designs! I now understand even more of what goes on in the background of knife design and I appreciate that much more! Thanks for being here for the knife community!! 🎉
Understanding the design philosophy behind a knife is so important - if you can get your hands on it. The design philosophy really helps you understand what the designer/maker was thinking when they added or excluded certain features. It helps you understand the purpose of the knife. As for harpoon blades, this design is to enhance stabbing/puncturing performance. By reducing the profile behind the tip area you reduce friction as the blade enters an object. You can also reduce some weight which can make the blade more nimble. Probably no benefit for a Lander - but tops marks for trying. Sharp blades all.
The more I see your show The more I enjoy it because of the way you smoothly roll through different topics to helping other businesses and yet indirectly promoting yourself so people know what you're about . Knowing you has made it easy for me to decide on what knife to buy in the memory of my wife that I can carry with me .She's a good hard working farm raised woman and got me into whittling in which I won awards. Your knives seem to fit what I need especially lock. I'm waiting for a 3 and a half or 3 and a quarter inch. Right now I'm not financially ready but getting there to afford over a hundred dollar but I will soon
Dear Santa, what I want for Christmas this year: 1) space kitty t-shirt back in stock; 2) WIUG t-shirt back in stock; 3) Lander 3 OD-green contoured micarta scales; and 4) Baby Banter with crossbar lock! Please! 🌕
One of the main reasons I add a harpoon fin to the blades I make is for the thumbramp. If you bring the fin up near or just above the ricasso, it's the perfect resting spot for your thumb!
Very cool! Ps, I think that was a white river caper, very similar to the model one. I could be wrong! BTW I have a lander 2 moondust on the way, can't wait! Love the show!
I hate to be that guy. First, let me say I love your knives and the company. ❤ but, would you please add bigger sharpening choils to your knives that way us sharpeners have a bit of an easy time with them? Would be greatly appreciated.
Hear hear. I've been freehanding (though I just got a used KME for under $100!), and I had to be *super* careful while sharpening. Also, the painter's tape I used to protect the blade and scales somehow wicked water between the scale and liner while I sharpened on my whetstones!
Awesome brought the wii mote scales back. And as for a question. What's a great way to store my knives when they aren't in use and how often should I clean and oil them? Cleaners/Oil options too 🙏 please and thank you 🔪 🗡 🍴
I think you should design a knife named great white whale. Because I don’t believe there is such a thing in nature, there’s a great white shark… I’d copyright it before anybody else takes the name!
I see every knife I have as a canvas… most of my canvases, however, end up with acid wash tumbled blades, stonewash tumbled hardware, and black g10… I have a type what can I say? 😂
No Ben i like staghorn or redbone for handles . They have been usingcstag and bone for handles since they were attaching them to stone blade. I think if a design has gone on for a million years or more then it probably is pretty good handle material.
Proper term for the "feel" of a gun, rifle, pistol, knife hammer, tool...is "Hand". A knife that feels natural in your hand is said to have "Good Hand".
Been in and out of the firearms industry since the 80's. Ergonomic is the correct term sir. This comment is literally the first time I ever heard someone call it "hand".@@chrisjosekuehl
Hey Ben, I was wondering how accurate your website HRC readings are? Is the Yipper MagnaCut really only 60 HRC? 62.5-63 (61-63) is what the maker (Dr. Larrin Thomas) recommends except for outside extreme circumstances. You did it right for the Lulu at 62HRC. I noticed the HRC for your Banter 1 in S35VN also moves around from 58-60 to 59-61 on your website. Your 20CV is also run a couple points soft compared to recommendation if it goes as low as 58-61 HRC. It seems your S35VN, Nitro-V & Lulu Magnacut are all at their recommended HRCs but not the others? Are these HRC points truly accurate?
Thank the Stash Gods the sweet Yanni Stash lives!!! Love that the Wii Remote version has the Wii wrist strap! Love it! Oh hey, Tanto Lander 4? or or Reverse Tanto Lander 4? Thoughts?
If you can't laugh at yourself you aren't having enough fun. Thanks for the great weekly videos.

Awesome episode as always. Thanks for featuring the microjet. Such a fun show. Had a great time with you on the live stream. Ben.
The adventures of Ben and Austin’s facial hair is as exciting as the show content

Definitely need a theme song to play on here!! Love these shows even when they are weird!!!
Thanks, Ben. Now I want to rewatch The Mandalorian!
SLIP JOINT!! WOOHOO! Also, can't wait for my lander 4's!!
Soon......

Wow! Thank you, Ben. That was a great product spotlight. We sure appreciate. We love working with Knafs.
@@duketodd124 you’re very welcome, Todd! And I’ve still got to reply to your text. I got home and things got busy. I’ll get there.

Man, knife design is fun. I don’t even want to try to count how many sketches I have made to scale just to never do anything with it 😂
The lander 4 pocket sheath was awesome, Love KC and Knives Fast 💪

Love the hidden fun in this one.
Ship shape sharpening shop background lol. I see Easter eggs becoming more frequent now since the best damn edc video was so fun
I‘m so happy that you guys are finally making a slip joint wich I can carry in germany.😊
Very cool to get some behind the scenes! It would be interesting to know more about how the process of getting samples from different OEM’s is like.

Lulu pocket knife time…. Just saying. The best bushcraft pocket knife ever!😮
The other person that loves the idea of CAD cardboard aided design is master maker Adam Savage
No CAD for u! The force is wit ya!
More of the design stuff please! I loved it and it brings me joy as an inspiring designer
Super design!
lol….makes you wonder what other gold is being edited out of Knafs at nite videos. Bring us more bloopers!
looks like a blast to design! good stuff🎉🎉
Would definitely love more design talk. I live close to Knafs homebase and I would be in there to learn from yall everyday if I could!
Ben's mustache is growing too powerful.
It was. Until it wasn't. I got rid of it this week when it started taking control of my prefrontal cortex. It had to go. ;)
@@benbantersohhhh you DO reply. Here I thought you guys were just ignoring your comments.
The stash switch! "They said it couldn't be done, Jerry!"

I did it for pretty much that reason. Just for the tip of an index finger instead
You all are ridiculous and I love it. Please never stop being weird. ❤
because of this episode, i finally bought the Lulu
Very cool! Ps, I think that was a white river caper, very similar to the model one. I could be wrong! BTW I have a lander 2 moondust on the way, can't wait! Love the show!
I was in that bob Ross video :) still have my painting ❤
Patiently waiting for my Lander 4 fixie.
Sent in my Christmas card!
You should use a surveying field book for your sketches. They are nice and small and have grid paper on 1 side.

LANDER 4 EN FUNDA DE BOLSILLO ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I enjoyed your knife design Ben it was very interesting and fun.nmore of that please.
Everything is a canvas. I put glow in the dark tape under the natural g10 lander scales just to make it more mine than before.
I see every knife I have as a canvas… most of my canvases, however, end up with acid wash tumbled blades, stonewash tumbled hardware, and black g10… I have a type what can I say? 😂
Okay, cleaning out that gross toothpick slot you only need a pipe cleaner and some rubbing alcohol. Easy peasy.
That song though, lmao!
Mustache of champions!
Any chance of a Lander 3 in magnacut?

Super interesting. Where did you learn this proper-ness?
Everyone I’ve ever talked to about this is ergonomic. But I’ve only been in the firearms and training industry for 12 years. Maybe it’s older term.

Where do you get the wii mote lanyard for the knives. I would like to put that on all my knives.
Are those ultem scales on lander 4?

No no no! I refuse to call the Wii "retro gaming" 😂
Where is Austin’s stache!!! Did he shave it off with upcoming slip joint? Lol

Was that a lander lock back? 3d printed??
It's the Ninos Knife Kit. Check it out.
I feel like we’ve seen this video before. Is this a repost?
Just curious, does Keith have enough sharpening to fill up an entire 40 hour work week???
*SIDE NOTE* How come you guys don’t go-around the office doing pocket checks???
Nope. This is just one of Keiths many talents. He is like the Knafs Swiss Army Person.
KEITH
Who’s going to send this to The Voice ?
Who the Heck is that Guy sitting next to You Ben???🤔🤔
Kinda disappointed that you didn't say anything about Crucible….
Knafs and Jack wolf collab?????
I say a moon crew coin
Make a knafs moon crew sub plz 🔥🔥

That would be some tiny writing but I don't hate it.
Why do different youtubers change their thumbnails, not upset just confused and curious
RUclips does it automatically to see if a different thumbnail draws more clicks
You guys should try G-Carta made by Greg at G.L. Hansen and Sons!
Are the Lander 2 & 3 coming to Europe as 'Clip Point' versions too? :(
I need one in my life. lol
