Matt, your cover of 'Promises' by Maverick City is absolutely phenomenal! Your command of the fretboard is impressive, and the way you seamlessly incorporate triads in every position-left, right, and center-just elevates the entire performance. It’s clear that you have a deep understanding of the bass, and your playing is truly superior. I aspire to play with such skill and artistry one day. Keep inspiring us with your incredible talent!
@@daryldavies8525 I appreciate your kind comments Daryl. Means a lot. I’ve been playing for 35 years, but never had a bass teacher, but the last 3-4 years I’ve really worked on my skill and starting learning basic theory after hearing Matt Ramsey (maybe you’ve heard of him) play bass. I absolutely love his style.
@@mjmason75 Interesting I have only played the bass or any string instrument for 3 years. It scares me when I stand in-front of over 1000 people in church and then folks watching online. My prayer is that my playing skills progress. I am also thinking about playing keys one day.
@@daryldavies8525 I'm from NY and still live here now, but I moved to Nashville for a while, and I've played bass professionally from about 1995 to 2011 with many artists and bands including studio recording and live touring and several songs I've played on made it to radio as well. But even though I have years of experience playing including shows up to 35,000 people, I still get a little nervous even just playing at church. It never really went away for me. lol. I guess it's good. It makes me want to play my best and not screw up (which does still happen sometimes, but I'm excellent at covering my mistakes at this point - haha). I started playing bass around 1989 when I was 14 at my church youth group because they needed somebody to play. That was my start and I never thought it would have taken me to this level, but I am thankful for it. I mostly just play at my church now, but if the right thing came along, I'd consider touring again, but I'm not searching for it.
