    Pro tip when installing the band, through that loop thing, if you open the headband padding you can remove it, that little tab is actually attached with velcro to the headband underneath the padding, so then you can just take it off the quest 3 interface and just work on looping the band through the slot without having to fight with the headstrap.

    Thank you for the great review.
    Your battery analysis is on point, I think that with this spec we have to put it on from the start so the quest can last longer and it will balance the weight distribution at the same time.
    I think we need to consider the battery to be part of the strap rather than an "bonus" accessory

    • @ThisKory
      @ThisKory  10 месяцев назад +7

      Thank you for the great comment! I agree that the battery is a crucial part of the head strap to better balance the headset and bring more comfort. Without the battery, the comfort goes down as you feel the front of the headset weigh down. Still better than the default strap either way 🤣

    • @Verociity
      @Verociity 10 месяцев назад

      @@ThisKory Do you really feel the front go down without the battery on the back? I've never experienced that with multiple powered straps unless it's not secured on the top or forehead properly, if it's well secured it stays in place, whereas the battery actually swings the front end around with every strap I've tried, especially with heavier batteries.

    • @ThisKory
      @ThisKory  10 месяцев назад +2

      @Verociity The M3 does not slip down when the battery isn't attached. All I was saying is that you can feel the weight of the headset on the front of your face, and this is more apparent when you remove the battery counter-weight. I haven't had issues with the M3 slipping down on my face.

    Great video! I really appreciate that you are non-sponsored as it seems like all the RUclipsrs are just cheap puppets to sell other brands! I ended up buying the BoboVR M2 with dual batteries and the m2 to m3 adapter kit, because that was the only thing that was in stock. I am very happy with it.
    I switch the batteries out after about an hour and it only allows my headset to drain about 5%. I do this because this is not good to run the batteries all the way down flat and the BOBO Batts do get warm. I do not hear any buzzing on the quest with the BOBO batteries when my headset battery is over 80%. For all the haters out there, if I leave my quest plugged into the wall adapter it came with. The quest still slowly loses battery power while using it.

    No Quest extra battery is designed to charge up, they're designed to extend the battery life. It is to prevent burning the internal battery. It is good to have the charging station so your headset (and controllers) is always at 100% when you start playing. BTW the station will NOT charge the external battery, it will disconnect it as soon as you put it in the base station, regardless of the battery strap you have it is better to disconnect it / detach it before placing the headset in the base station to avoid issues.

    People be aware, knowledge has blessed us! The hissing sound is from the large power usage the Quest 3 has being changed to a lower power usage at around 75%-100% battery charge. It is basically just a feature a lot of electronics use for better, safer charging.
    THE SOLUTION:
    Plug the battery in when your quest 3 is below ~70%. This is when the normal charging mode is active for the quest, and there are no complicated transfers for power. If I confused you, I would recommend searching for a video about it on RUclips.

    14:35 I have the official battery strap. I use an Anker 45w charge with a good 10ft cable and it can charge both the headset and the elite battery. But due to safety reasons, it will only charge the elite pack up to about 70%. It detective if you are wearing it and stops charging. But will keep it at that level. Once you take off the headset it continues charging further. But the elite strap really has a small battery. His BoboVR looks good. But i think the packs are only 12v.

    I found the pressure from the two pads right on top very painful after awhile. I fixed it by using an old pleather facial interface from a quest 2 which i cut the ends off and then sealed with superglue. That piece now bridges the gap between the original two velcro mounting points on the top and is completely comfortable, so much so I dont even feel the top band

    The whining is because the battery isn't big enough. The reason was discovered and the only current solution is to let the quest get low first, then use battery. The batteries were not meant for the quest 3 and it's requirements. You can find someone who explains it better on yourube.

    The M3 is just the M2 with the new brackets for Q3. They are literally the same straps and batteries. Also, a protip. You can angle the HMD up a little so that it counter balances against the battery and strap. That way, it won't wobble anymore. Because it hinging on the back of your head.

    • @NSG_Oasis
      @NSG_Oasis 7 месяцев назад

      actually, different batteries, the m3 batteries have a higher output than the m2 because the quest 3 requires more power than the quest 2 to charge. the magnet positioning is also a bit off but insignificant at that.

    I just got mine and I’d have to say I think they should have redesigned it a bit more. I don’t find it nearly as comfortable as my old one with the quest 2. Where it attaches on the side prevents it from doing fine tuning. It can’t pivot as much and can’t slide in as much if you need it too. Also yeah the battery not being able to send enough amps is just not good either.

  • @lyren1238
    @lyren1238 10 месяцев назад +3

    Two other things to mention. The quest 3 will no longer fit in the official carrying case and you have to position the head strap just right to get it to work with the charging dock.

    How can you say it's not an issue that the quest battery still drains while the headset is plugged in to the strap? Maybe the headset battery depletes first, but if the quest battery is draining at the same time you will only have say 50% of it left. The whole point of a swappable setup like this is that you can in effect have unlimited playing time by swapping the batteries between the charger and the headset, which is no longer the case if it can't keep the main battery charged. Definitely an issue as far as i'm concerned.

    • @ThisKory
      @ThisKory  10 месяцев назад +1

      Maybe I didn't explain that part well. You have it wrong when you say "you will only have 50% of it left". I understand your logic behind this, but this is not how it works.
      If my Quest 3 is at 50% battery and my BOBOVR M3 battery is at 100%, I can use the Quest 3 for 2 hours with the M3 battery turned on. After 2 hours the M3 battery will be depleted, but the Quest 3 battery will be at like 45%. This is a non-issue for most people, and it's probably a non-issue to you as well once you realize you aren't going to be affected by it in the ways you assume.
      The only way this becomes an issue is if you want to use your Quest 3 and it's at like 1% battery.. in this case the issue is the user. Charge your shit and you'll never have a problem 😂

Several times after I stop playing I leave the Quest recharging, ready for the next session, but sometimes I forget or the charging cable was not plugged all the way. So in the next session I can't play because the external battery can charge the headset. With the Quest 2 that was not an issue since I could start at 5% and I would be fine. In terms of battery not keeping up with headset charging when playing... there is a Caveat. If I play PCVR , say over air link, and my headset is at 75% .... battery WILL actually keep up and charge it to 99%. If its a stand alone game, than no bueno.

    • @ThisKory
      @ThisKory  8 месяцев назад

      Yeah it depends on the task being performed right, because everything will use more/less battery depending on the power requirements.
      Things like streaming PCVR games via AirLink may not use as much battery because the Quest 3 itself doesn't have to utilize its GPU and CPU to run the game - your PC does that.
      Also, if you're connected via a LinkCable or equivalent to your PC to play PCVR games via the cable, then the cable itself plays a big role as well with data/charging speeds. There are so many variables so it's tough to say exactly how your battery/charging will perform.

  • @EVMANVSGAS
    @EVMANVSGAS 10 месяцев назад +2

    The Q3 draws more power than the battery can provide, so the headset can dies before the battery is drained with high usage games. I have heard a couple other reviews that say this as well even though I know you said that is a non issue. That is why I bought a different brand that would keep up or slightly charge, which I can attest to you is true. You should review the BINBOK VR T3 Plus Head Strap with Magnetic Battery Pack. It works great and has larger batteries that output more power. It's $100 but comes with the strap and 2 extra 8000mAh batteries, and a base station to charge them on.

    • @ThisKory
      @ThisKory  10 месяцев назад

      @casteldredge Tell that to Meta. You can't play with a Link Cable without the battery draining either.

    • @ThisKory
      @ThisKory  10 месяцев назад +6

      @casteldredge I never said anything to make an excuse for BOBOVR, all I have been stating are facts. The Quest 3 has a ton of power draw when in use, and you're right, it needs a battery that's capable. Obviously the M3 battery is the same as the Quest 2, and obviously it does not charge it while in use - I never said otherwise.
      But this does not take away from the fact that the current battery for the M3 does its job. It provides enough extra battery life to the Quest 3 to double its working time. Whether you want your extra battery to charge your device while providing additional battery time is an entirely different issue, and that's up to you if you want to buy something different. I'm not here trying to stop anyone from buying something else, and I am agreeing with everyone that the battery can be improved, and I said this in my video.
      So yeah, maybe you're the one being a little ridiculous 🤷

      hissing would annoy me, there's another version with a bigger battery that supposedly doesn't hiss. I have the Bobo M2 and gave it to my niece, but don't think I'll pick it up the M3 as they didn't update it enough for the Quest 3. @@ThisKory

    • @ThisKory
      @ThisKory  9 месяцев назад

      I totally agree with you. The hissing was slightly annoying to me as well, but it actually does stop hissing if your headset is below 70% battery like others have pointed out in the comments here, so I just let my headset battery drain to under 70% before turning on the M3 battery and I don't have a problem.
      However, this issue should have never been a problem to begin with, so I understand wanting to get something else, because the M3 can definitely be improved for the Quest 3. It all depends on your desires though, and most other head straps you cannot use Quest Pro style with the facial gasket removed, so it depends on what you desire out of a head strap.
      I'll be reviewing the Zyber VR Elite Strap soon, and I honestly find it much more comfortable than the M3, but it requires the facial gasket to be attached, so that's the trade-off.

    If you have the official dock to charge your headset and controllers, will that also charge the headset battery if in place on the headset strap?
    Also, I would say that it is an issue that the battery can't even maintain the Quest 3's charge. Say your kid has been using the headset, it has 20% left. If you had multiple batteries for the BOBOBR M3 then that would not be an issue. You could pop one on, when that gets low you swap. Idk about anyone else but the Q3 battery was the least of my complaints. For the first few weeks of having the Q3, I mostly kept using my Q2 because I found the stock headstrap so uncomfortable (I have the Bobovr strap on my Q2). Once my M3 came, I’ve mostly been on my Q3 and enjoyed it for the better fov and clarity. But the right controller touch sensor on the right trigger is glitchy. My avatar’s hands and facial expressions are like having Tourette’s. So that’s my only complaint with the Q3. I’ve been getting 4 hours play time, only because I play via link cable on Pc.

      Which way does it feel like it's going to fall?
      Frontwards? Put the back strap lower if you can to secure it better.
      Downwards on your face? Put the top strap higher on your forehead to give more support.
      When you tilt your head sideways or backwards? Tighten the strap a bit, and make sure the strap is "gripping" your head by making sure the top strap is near the top of your forehead, and the back piece is cupping the lower back of your head.
      All of the above? Get a new head, or a new head strap 🤷😅

  • @Misfu88
    @Misfu88 10 месяцев назад

    BOBO M3 is nearly there for me, but I can't stop thinking about the Elite Strap. No matter what I do, it's never super comfortable - it's either very wobbly and the FOV has a noticeable dip, or I have to have it uncomfortably pressed to my face, with very good fov but sweaty like a pig. The thing is also very heavy, playing more actiony games with this one gives me occasional neck pain. It also feels like it's going to snap any minute and it's unusable without the battery counterweight at the back.
    However, this was a really, really good video. Love how you talk and explain stuff.

    Seeing the Q3 on next to you, it seems you have a smaller head than me by a bit. My issue is the face interface cramming into my cheekbones, I wonder if this could alleviate that or if perhaps this combined with a facial interface replacement? Have you experimented with those?

    • @ThisKory
      @ThisKory  10 месяцев назад +1

      I'd imagine something like the M3 would alleviate the cramming issue with the facial interface for you, since you can remove the interface altogether of course. VR isn't as immersive like this because you can see your environment, but I kinda like it.
      Regarding a facial interface replacement, I'd highly recommend VRCover once they get a full facial gasket replacement kit. However, you may have the same issue with the facial interface being too small. Either way, I think your issue can be resolved, it just may take some time (and money) finding what works.

      I am not sure exactly what you mean, but that front part that rests on the top of your forehead cannot physically move lower than the headset itself because it makes contact with the headset.
      You CAN have that part of the BOBOVR head strap rest lower on your forehead, but you will lose stability as it may slide down your face due to gravity, and the lenses may sit too low on your face for this to work. So having that part rest higher on your forehead is preferred.

    • @ThisKory
      @ThisKory  10 месяцев назад

      If I use the smaller IPD, the lenses will kinda squish my nose, so I use a wider IPD and everything is fine. My nose will slap against that lens area as I mentioned, but this only happens when performing quick head turns, and can be alleviated by tightening the IPD to kind of hold onto your nose, or widening the IPD enough so that it's far enough from your nose to hit it. Good thing the Quest 3 has a massive sweet spot! 😅
      FOV is great, and I am as close as I'll ever need to be, as I can see the edges of the illuminated displays. However, the BOBOVR did not improve FOV for me, as I was able to see the edges of the displays with the default strap and the lowest profile gasket adjustment. I hope this helps.

    Have you considered doing a Binbok headstrap review? For $99 I am enjoying it thus far with basically unlimited battery life - two large hot swappable magnet batteries and a comfortable strap with knob tightening, good built, and padded strap over the top. While a big improvement over the stock strap and the elite strap, the Binbok doesn't have the halo piece, so I'm wondering how much difference that could make. It seems like ultimately, for max comfort, the weight needs to come off my nose completely and the pressure off my face - so a really good form fitting facial interface + almost a safety helmet style weight distribution might be the key for long VR use ?

      BOBOVR does not seem to integrate audio solutions into their head straps, and the Quest 3's audio I found to be well sufficient for games and occasional videos, so I have zero desire to add MORE weight with a second set of speakers attached. Although, I am someone who ordered a Bigscreen Beyond because I desire an ultra lightweight design, so that gives you an idea of my VR preferences. To answer your question though, I don't know, as I am not working with BOBOVR.

      @@ThisKory Thanks for your feedback. The CV 1 has springs in the strap. Once you have adjusted it to your head, you just put it on like a basball cap. Adjusting to a different user is faster and less prone to tow hairs than the quest 3 strap. The middle strap messes your hair up though For both. I "upgraded" from a CV1 to Quest 3, but to me many aspects are downgrades.
      Downgrade:
      Comfort (hurts my face)

      BoboVR seems to solve adjusting to different users better and make it more comfortable. But the wiggle looks to big. I liked to tighten the CV1 quite a bit to prevent that despite it causing oculus face. Does the big sweet spot enable you to still see perfectly without the wiggle affecting the view?

      @@thoreberlin I appreciate the detailed response and mini comparison review. I agree that the wiggle can be annoying to deal with, but it does not affect vision whatsoever due to the massive sweet spot on the Quest 3. When moving my head around I feel the Quest 3 slapping against my nose every so often, but I've gotten used to it, and if I widen the IPD slider then I can prevent it altogether. If I tighten the knob on the back of the BOBOVR M3 I can get it more stable, but it's at the cost of comfort so I like to keep it a bit more loose because the wiggling doesn't bother me too much unless I'm doing acrobatics in VR 😅
