Billy & Gwendoline, the idea of a woman's retreat at the convent is not only a wonderful way to use the building, but to also pay homage to it's previous life and the many women who lived there.
I was a dementia caregiver. A friend who has a B & B does dementia caregiver retreats at her inn. I know how stressful it can be and that might be a nice population to tailor a retreat for.
And something with writing retrats or something with reading ... because the libreary/bibliotheque will be a central space as well and has to be filled / used and appreciated.
What a great idea Gwen. You also have a huge garden to grow organic food and fruits to supply the workshops. A meditation garden would be a area as well.

Duncan does the tidiest electrical boxes ever. Those wall lights do a lovely job Billy, and you are a great tease about that chandelier, I can’t wait to see it. I guess you can’t really do the floor until it’s in, as the lift will be needed to reach there. The convent will be a beautiful place for Gwen’s retreats. Billy & Gwen renting out the kitchen to a catering company would provide Gwen with all the food she needs for the retreat. They can cater for the visitors to the library. You could provide childcare for mothers with children. Somehow I see a farmers market in the center garden, stalls all the way round. Thank you Gwen you made all my business lightbulbs light up. There’s so much that can be done once you have a space.
Well people travel when they want to checkout new things. It could be a self sufficient community and also surviving near by villages. Wedding! There’s so many ways these days of packing food.

A wonderful idea from Gwendoline…. It’s such a beautiful space for a retreat. Whether that is yoga, meditation, sound baths, art and photography mindfulness (which I do) gardening too. Bravo for your Retreat Space Vision! As a retreat planner here in the US, I can attest to how difficult it is to rent a beautiful location that’s not affiliated with a particular church organization that imposes religious restrictions on use. Gwen’s retreats sound wonderful - but you can also consider renting to those organizing Yoga retreats, scrapbooking retreats, quilting retreats, meditation retreats, silence retreats, book club retreats - you can even host open retreat weekends where individuals can sign up to just be away and have a self-guided experience. Men’s group retreats too. It feels like your vision honors the nun’s centuries-long devotion and service saturating at this location. Blessings!
I go to retreats here, I am a quilter so we bundle up our projects, supplies and equipment for 3 to 5 days. We stay there, eat there sew, chat, eat, talk, play games, puzzles. All included you can sew in your jammies even! Works for crafters too!
Sounds amazing to have women's retreats. Once the kitchen is done, there could be cooking classes. The garden, the two story library and all the other ideas for development would fit with this future function. Keep up all the great work!

I think a men’s retreat for all ages would be great featuring Billy (restoration class) and Michael (painting class) and the other gifted guys (filming, meditation, gardening) who have helped. Men need a retreat also.

I get close to tears, seeing each step of the kitchen reno. I remember so clearly what Billy walked into, in the beginning. I feel like I am part of the reno. And as a mental health RN for 40 years (medically retired several years ago), Gwen's work for the well being of women is as beautiful as Gwen herself. I love Gwendoline’s idea for women’s retreats. That could expand to almost any kind of women’s retreats too. That kitchen would be a wonderful place for a cooking retreat with a well known chef. The building is custom made for spiritual retreats of almost any kind… I would imagine the acoustics in the chapel are lovely. That would make classes on singing or public speaking ideal… and of course weddings. the possibilities are almost endless with such a large and gorgeous building❤️🤗🐝 Oh! And the gardens and greenhouse… lots of classes and retreats out there too🤗
I was looking back on the videos you made when you first bought the convent and I could not believe how abandoned and ramshackle everywhere looked. Your transformation now seems almost miraculous, and you have such sensitivity and good taste as bit by bit you bring it back to life again.
The kitchen is becoming more than more stunning as time goes on. So much incredible hard work but it is really paying off. The transformation has been a delight to watch. I'm looking forward to the finish and then on to the other rooms, too.

Lovely idea Gwen! I think a bunch of raised beds for veggies outside the kitchen would be marvelous. The walled garden keeps them private and makes a nice visual towards the back of the property for whatever purpose you choose.

As a wheelchair user who would absolutely love to visit and experience your renovations and a beautiful retreat I have to say I was thrilled by your ramp to the entrance/hall video and hope you can get that lift sorted for the likes of me that stairs are a flipping impossibility for! I only found your channel about a week ago and I’ve just caught up and feel weirdly proud of you for your work. When I come to France may I visit and test out your ramps and help you construct the most accessible areas in the garden etc. please?

Amazing Gwen, I would definitely come and see the Convent. I would love to get in there and feel the essence of what was. I like the idea of creative workshops there as well in music, writing, arts in oil, watercolor…cooking classes-from garden to table. Also business group getaways & advanced training. That alone could be pretty profitable. The destination spa type wellness retreats also sound so lovely as Gwendolyn suggests. You make a very nice couple!
A women's retreat is a very thoughtful way to open the Convent for the community and Gwen's courage is wonderful. You have a lot of space, a lot of history and I know you will garner so much enthusiasm and support as time goes by. The place would be a compelling art space. So rich in information and material to respond to. It is waiting for you you know ..
My sister does these retreats with a group of nuns. They spend the day talking then spend the night and meet in the morning for church. She loves them and it's good for her to get away from life for a few days.

The kitchen is becoming more than more stunning as time goes on. So much incredible hard work but it is really paying off. The transformation has been a delight to watch. I'm looking forward to the finish and then on to the other rooms, too.
The transformation in this room, even without the floors being done, is astounding. I’m sure that you and the team are justifiably proud of the work you’ve done. You should be, at the very least. It makes mew glad to be watching as the progress goes on, even a little at a time because of delays out of your control. Wow, just wow. Keep up the good work. Very much looking forward to what the next room will look like.
Love how the wall lights are above and below and the softness of the light giving so much ambiance to the room. That and the colour of the walls have added so much warmth to the kitchen. Great choices as always Billy.

I love Gwens' idea, ever since she mentioned about her healing retreat centre plans for the convent. Couldn't be more perfect. The lights are also perfectly understated.. ready for the centre piece, a fabulous chandelier. The space is looking so good. Well done.

I think a bunch of raised beds for veggies outside the kitchen would be marvelous. The walled garden keeps them private and makes a nice visual towards the back of the property for whatever purpose you choose.

As a wheelchair user who would absolutely love to visit and experience your renovations and a beautiful retreat I have to say I was thrilled by your ramp to the entrance/hall video and hope you can get that lift sorted for the likes of me that stairs are a flipping impossibility for! I only found your channel about a week ago and I’ve just caught up and feel weirdly proud of you for your work. When I come to France may I visit and test out your ramps and help you construct the most accessible areas in the garden etc. please?

He is not sitting around having a charmed life. He has bought beautiful things and working his butt off to fix them. Hopefully as he gets older, he will slow down and really enjoy the fruits of his labor.

Wow, the kitchen looks wonderful! I do like the wall color, it contrasts so subtly with the white roof plaster and the wood windows, and the lighting really brings it together in such a warm way! I think Gwendolyn's plans are marvelous, already good and meaningful plans for this beautiful building.

Amazing Gwen, I would definitely come and see the Convent. I would love to get in there and feel the essence of what was. Maybe you can have gardening classes..etc. I think Billy could have a Mens retreat and bring that good energy to to circle. We know our young men need a good Man to look up to. Blessings

I like the idea of creative workshops there as well in music, writing, arts in oil, watercolor…cooking classes-from garden to table. Also business group getaways & advanced training. That alone could be pretty profitable. The destination spa type wellness retreats also sound so lovely as Gwendolyn suggests. You make a very nice couple!

A women's retreat is a very thoughtful way to open the Convent for the community and Gwen's courage is wonderful. You have a lot of space, a lot of history and I know you will garner so much enthusiasm and support as time goes by. The place would be a compelling art space. So rich in information and material to respond to. It is waiting for you you know ..
My sister does these retreats with a group of nuns. They spend the day talking then spend the night and meet in the morning for church. She loves them and it's good for her to get away from life for a few days.
