Ryan Gosling has been on a roll this past year. Back-to-back comedies with one of them earning him an Oscar nomination (for playing a plastic doll no less), and then topping off with a guest gig on SNL (Beavis and Butthead especially has become iconic, and reaction worthy IMO).
The part where she does the goofy thing when she is telling him about karaoke she says was her getting Goslinged. When they were walking back up the steps to do another take and they both like to ad lib, but she did something different he said she should do it and she did and it ended up in the movie. She said, "I looked like a dork and he was just grinning there and that is what it is like to be Goslinged".
19:37 Fun fact: This was shot on location at the Sydney Harbour Bridge. They closed the entire bridge to film this scene, and they also had Ryan do some of his own stunts.
Just a point of clarification, since it took me a minute to figure out - when he says he was doing stunts for Miami Vice, he means the stunt show at Universal Studios Hollywood, not the TV show. The stunt show lasted until the mid-90s and was replaced by the Waterworld stunt show, which is still there!
Lee Majors and Heather were the stars of the original tv series. They were the two who came in arrested the bad guys at the end. Lee Majors also sang the original version of the theme song which had an updated version in the credits. The show and show version of the song were much better.
Yeah man. When he rallied the other stunties and came to Ryan's rescue in the climax, I actually shouted "YEEEEAHH!" in the theater and made my girlfriend slap my shoulder.
I grew up watching the original series, and it did my heart good to see they brought Lee Majors - the original Fall Guy - back for a cameo role. :-) Also loved that they used the original series theme song in the end credits.
That scene on the beach at beggining of the movie that car stunt with 8.5 car rolls. This movie breaks the Guinness World Record of the most car rolls (a fact which Gail actually mentions in the dialogue). The previous record was from the Bond movie Casino Royal (2006). In the credits scene (When the cops show up to arrest Gail and Tom Ryder) There is a cameo from the original cast of the 1981 series “The Fall Guy” with Heather Majors and Lee Majors Keep up the good work.
"One of the biggest actors is playing the stunt guy." This is based on a TV series from the 80's, but when I first watched it I had the same thought, and it reminded me of "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", where Brad Pitt plays Leonardo DiCaprio's stunt double. The funny thing is the woman who plays the director of the movie they're filming in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" is played by Zoë Bell, who is a stunt actress who was Uma Thurman's stunt double in the Kill Bill movies (among many other things), and Tarantino later cast her as herself in Death Proof - which itself is an homage to 70's practical stunts - and then gave her a bit role as the director in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" which is in turn a movie about an actor and his stunt double. We're living in an era of stunt inception. I also love how they filmed the stunt guys filming the stunt guys filming the stunt guys filming the actors filming the actors playing stunt guys and played those clips during the credits (and Emily Blunt needs to do more less serious roles; she's funny and adorable, but is almost always doing something dark and serious).
25:01 This movie is based on an 80's tv show called "The Fall Guy" starring Lee Majors as Colt Seavers and Heather Thomas as Jodi (yet they were not love interests in the show." You should really check it out if you have the chance.
One of my favorite movies ( that I don't think you've reviewed yet ) is "True Romance" (1993) script written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by Ridley Scott's brother, Tony Scott. ( he also directed the original "Top Gun" (1986) movie ) Margot Robbie had the music from "True Romance" playing at the end of her wedding, because she loved this movie so much...
My favorite movie of the year so far. So priceless and entertaining. Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt had beautiful chemistry ❤and I laughed so hard throughout the film 😂😂.
The on screen chemistry between Emily and Ryan was what elevated this movie. It had great writing and acting, but the chemistry was perfect. Also, the brunette wasn't Ryan's agent. She was the executive producer on the movie.
The Fall Guy Series was '81-86, but you should watch Hooper, which was made in '78. Also a stunt man homage with Sally Field and Burt Reynolds. I think the car jump at the end was 325 feet and set a record... I have a red '74 Trans Am, so I love it. 😻
Love the Lee Majors cameo at the end, the original Fall Guy from the 80's tv series! I was wondering where they would have him when I saw his name in the credits! LOL
If anyone is considering watching the full movie, I'd suggest the theatrical release over the Director's cut -- It's a much tighter film and a few of the jokes/bits have a much stronger setup because of that.
Lee Majors Was The Fall Guy on a TV Series The Fall Guy and Tgere Was A Movie About a Stunt Guy Called HOOPER YOU MIGHT ENJOY WATCHING as Much as I ENJOY Watching Your Reactios Thank You For Doing Them
If you're interested in another movie about stuntpeople, check out Hal Needham's Hooper(1978). It also has an incredible cast and Hal Needham is a famous stuntperson himself.
The one in the cloud is doctored and the only one left with the real people waa on Ryders phone. The bag and the gun wasn't in the theater version. Please watch the theater version because this one is really confusing. Gosling explains being terrified of heights and doing that drop at the beginning didn't cure him. His wife and daughters forbid him to do fire. They said, "Daddy don't catch on fire."
If you're interested in movies/shows that explore filmmaking in general, I think you will enjoy SUNSET BOULEVARD (1950) and especially THE BAD AND THE BEAUTIFUL (1952) (one of the best films in that genre). Even the recently released miniseries THE SYMPATHIZER has an episode based on that, with Robert Downey Jr. playing multiple roles with one of them being a Francis Ford Coppola-like director in that episode (RDJ might win an Emmy later this year to add to his Oscar).
Saw this with my sister and we both got a kick out of it! Still annoys me it struggled at the box office For the record I'd watch the hell out of the fake movie they were making, looks like my type of sci fi blockbuster
The 1980's "Fall Guy" TV show was a stuntman, Colt Severs, that did a side job of working for a bail bonds company which was ran by Markie Post. When this came out, I was hoping it was going to be more true to the TV show. Regardless, I did like it. Really like Emily Blunt as a blonde. For an old school stuntman movie, check out "Hooper" with Burt Reynolds.
Oh there's quite a few additions from the theatrical version. Most importantly, they didn't show Kevin getting killed. I always wondered what was his deal and what happened to him lol
Great Reaction........ I was a Big Fan of the TV Series that aired when I was in High School..... When I heard about this movie I was worried about it being to far off the Theme/Spirit from the TV Series....... "The Unknown Stuntman" Song was the theme song for the credits, and was sung by Actor Lee Majors who has the Cameo as the cop at the End/After Credit scene......And it looks like the Blonde Lady with him is Heather Thomas who played a Character Named Jody Banks in the TV Series......
The version in the movie pissed me off... it didn't change the chorus like the Lee Majors tv show did, instead just repeating the worst version of the chorus every time... it was so annoying that it evolved into infuriating by the time the final chorus was sung and STILL didn't say "... that made Eastwood such a star."
In my opinion, this is one of the coolest films of this year. This is a kind of tribute to all stuntmen who are often the heroes of the film, but underestimated. Additionally, watching this film in IMAX provided additional experiences. And yes, this Metalstorm soundtrack is a parody of Dune. What's funny, before Your reaction, there was an ad for Giorgio Armani perfumes, in which Taylor appeared, and I immediately associated it with the advertisement in the film. Pozdrawiam z Polski :)
My dad was a huge fan of the original tv show with Lee Majors. I tried the show but couldn't get into it. Still, I decided to take my dad to see the movie. And this was a GREAT movie! I loved it! I can not remember the last time I walked out of a movie enjoying it that much. I am super bummed that it did not do well because I really wanted sequels.
I saw this in the theater and couldn't understand why it performed so poorly. it's got everything you want in a movie - action, comedy, romance. What were people looking for?

The actress playing Iggy Star, also played Number 6 in the movie "I Am Number 4". Unfortunately it wasn't quite what movie fans wanted to accept at the time and it's still now known as a flop. It COULD have been a good franchise. But sadly no. It died. Just like "The Mortal Instruments" It lacked any lasting impressions. Which also brings to my mind the movie "The Mortal Engines". It too could have been good but too many people felt it was a sad excuse for a Mad Max rip-off. It was actually so much more to be honest.

How'd you get to see the extended version? I bought this movie on Amazon and there were at least two extended scenes in your reaction that I have never seen. The Doone chase scene and the Bond villain torture scene were drastically cut in the version I have.
I regret not going to the theaters to see this bcuz it's soo damn good and fun. Sad it bombed at the box office definitely one of the best films this year.
I don't get why people had issues with this movie. It's just good goofy fun. It doesn't try to be more than what it is, plus you gotta love the respect they're giving the stunt guys with this. Also, fun fact: the stunt where they rolled the car at the beginning actually broke a real world record.
Semi-jokingly: I wouldn't be surprised if the Scientologists are behind the bad reviews, seeing as the main villain is a parody of Tom Cruise (among several, but mainly Cruise "I do my own stunts!" in movies that would never get any kind of green light if the mega-star literally risked his life filming it - I know people claim he did in interviews, but seriously, that's PR interviews, aka big fat lies). 😉😁
People expected an action movie. They got a romance movie. That's why people were mad. Basically, trailers ruined this movie in a completely obtuse way. Just another reason people should stop watching trailers.
V, you should watch the movie Cowboys and Aliens. Starring: Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford. It's much less "Metal" than this fictional movie. But it HAS....well.....Cowboys and Aliens. lol.
Oh man, if you love Aaron Taylor Johnson and haven't seen Bullet Train yet, please do it for the channel! Same director as this film, has a great cast and fun action, you will not be sorry! Glad you liked this one V, I loved them shining a light on the under-appreciated heroes of REAL action, the stunt crew!
The big problem with this film, was that they went and called it "The Fall Guy". Which I can't for the life of me, work out why they did. Isn't the whole point of taking the title, and main character, for a film, from a classic TV series, so that you can then pay homage to that series, and stick to the format of it, even just loosely. But if you then go ahead, and use virtually nothing from the original TV show, save the title, and the main characters name, then what is the point? The irony of all of that, is that if they hadn't called it The Fall Guy, and it was simply put out as a film about a stunt man, I don't think one person would have said "Hang on a moment.... Isn't this just a rip off of that old show The Fall Guy?" And that's because it isn't. It bears very little, if anything, to the classic 80s show. Except the title, colt severs, and the truck. The premise of the film is, apart from those things, entirely different. So it could have gone down in history, as just a decent action comedy film about the adventures of a stunt man. But instead, the first reaction of virtually everyone over the age of forty five, after seeing it, will be to say "So what did any of that have to do, with the TV show?". Whilst everyone under that age will likely just assume it's an original film, with an original title, and character name. And not care about some outdated crappy old TV series that if they got to see, would cringe at, and dismiss, as being corny and terrible. Maybe the producers thought that with it being a recognised property, it might help sell it, out of nostalgic curiosity. That's the only reason I can think of, why they used the name only, and not the shows general set up and story line. Ironically.... Again.... It never actually did that, in the end. Still..... At least they never ruined it, as half as much as they did, the daddy of 80s TV action shows - the A Team - now, that film truly WAS a travesty. As was that dreadful remake of Knight Rider that hit TV screens in the 2000s. You'd think by now, the wiser thing to do, is not just ride the shirt tails of old classics, hoping to hit it rich, and to actually come up with fresh ideas themselves. Or at least, change the title. Things could then just be viewed on their own merit, and be judged as such. Instead of helping to take the shine off the childhood TV memories of folks, over the age of 50.
I disagree. I see it as a reboot and origin story. In the TV show they did bounty hunting. In this movie he is sent after a guy that has gone missing and he's supposed to bring him in or back. At the end he puts on the hat that says Fall Guy Stunts indicating he's going into business for himself. I'd love to see a sequel where he launches into the bounty hunting.
this movie is something i was misssing in modern movies, today it is all either political agendas, this is a movie that i can watch and relax, with a good original story, cool characters, and a dog... everything i wanted

"The Six Million Dollar Man." There was a companion series, "The Bionic Woman," starring Lindsay Wagner.
And they used the same kind of truck and the same song from the TV show "The Fall Guy"
Lee Majors was the "6 Million Dollar Man" not the Bionic man.
@@actualkarenokboomer3158 Yeah, the Bionic Woman (Lindsay Wagner) was essentially the same gimmick. Both characters did a crossover arc.

But it HAS....well.....Cowboys and Aliens. lol.
Watch "Hooper". It's a movie. It's fall guy movie that predates the Fall Guy TV show.
kiss - I was made for loving you. classic!
10:38 As a Ryan, Thank you V!!! haha
I think you'd really love The Menu from...2022, I think it was? A really great dark comedy!
OK, but did you like it? Did you like the cast? Be honest. 🤣🤣🤣
Well now you have to watch the Kick-Ass films with ATJ. They are fantastic.
Yo I know this is off-topic but I swear I hear Helldivers 2 music in the background sometimes
Isn't this just a rip off of that old show The Fall Guy?"
And that's because it isn't.
There is some different dialogue in this version compared to the cinema version
Am I the only one who thought that the blonde F-boy villain was Logan Paul when he first appeared on screen?
Did the editor change the music for the title sequence or have they changed it in the movie? I remember it as an ACDC song
This is the extended cut, the opening of the film is much different. I like the theatrical version a lot better.
I appreciate you and thank you for making content.
thanks for reaction
You should check out boy kills world such a fun action film
This is not The Fall Guy, this is the extended cut. The Theatrical release is much better.
