Great interview, thanks for posting it. Robyn seems such a cool person, she's very witty and smart, and she comes across very confident without being smug or arrogant. I just think she's awesome.
She's cocky, but when you have the talent to back it up (as she does) you're just being true to yourself. That swagger is part of what makes her so cool, iconic and dare I say it sexy.
The problem is that danes, swedes and norwegians rarely are exposed to each others languages. The languages are very similar but the danish accent sounds a bit like drunken gibberish. I´ve experienced a few times having to speak english in Denmark, and norwegian is practically identical to danish in it´s written form. It only takes a bit of practice though to get the hang of it, so I think it´s sad to watch this interview. They´re not even trying to understand each other.
Robyn is musically a genius (She is in many likes like Bjork) They were so ahead of everyone else it sort of doomed them! Robyn debut album is so impressive she was 15 put out this pop/R&B/ dance album (The US Pop boom would happen less then a year later! Which sucks she should’ve been as huge as the Spice Girls, Brittany Spears, all the boy bands she also evolved a great deal from album to album! So much respect & love i have for Robyn (Without Robyn there would’ve never been Pink, Rihanna, Lady Gaga) She was the blue print as a modern artist
she's great. open honest natural. comes thru in her music. at 3:02 - 4;00ish, were they talking about tall poppy syndrome? jantelhoven.. really interesting culture differences.. that from afar you don't know about. interesting. its not the first time an interviewer has talked about her self confidence.. it seems kinda standard to me - are they not so self-confident in Denmark? or you just don't express it as such? what does dydbe mean btw? thanks!
Physically Robyn doesn't do it for me. She summed it up in "Who's that Girl" when she said "I'm just pretty some of the time" and "I'm only sexy when I say it's okay." Sexy is an attitude. Her confidence is what makes her sexy to me. She could have any man she wants simply by force of sheer will. She's bold, confident, talented, cute and very intelligent and all that combined...is sexy. And have you heard her vocals on Fristil with Petter? That's just sexy. The girl has it.
@gabbefuchs I have to tell you... I'm a French Canadian, and I absolutely love scandinavian languages, I learned english to speak to enybody else in the world, yes it's sad there's one language that creates a common network, but I now have friends from Esbjerg, Elsingør Aarhus and of course København! And I can say these young people are proud of their language and because of them, I can learn it too... Everybody should know at least 3-5 languages to be able to speak with everyone!
@gabbefuchs I agree. I have lived with a danish and a swedish girl for three months, and we never spoke english with each other. But if your not used to listen to swedish or danish, you have to concentrate a bit more to understand it. Therefore english might seem easier.
Wow, as an American, I have to say it's convienent (for us) but kind of sad that English has become the universal language. Still, very interesting to watch Robyn with her American, slightly New York sounding accent and a Danish guy with a heavy British accent side note-I actually know a fair amount of Japanese and I would say that the literal translation for Konnichiwa is "good afternoon" but it is also the closest word they have to "hello"
@MsJenjam Its a scandinavian mindset, "You should never believe you are anything special", you should never stand out to much or be too pleased with your self. The P.C. crowd will attack you if you do and try to keep you down.
@r8ght And I'm Swedish and I'm speaking to you in English even though we're both from the same country!!! OMG!!! Really though-- I couldn't have a conversation with a Dane even if I wanted to. It's very difficult to understand unless you're used to their different words and VERY different pronounciation. As most Swedes, I for the most part have no problem whatsoever with Norwegian, but spoken Danish, I just don't understand, and I sure wouldn't be comfortable being interviewed in the language.
@gabbefuchs Hey I'm from the States and I agree with you...I only speak English and I would still listen to a song if it were in a different language....
Ugghhh!!! The host is such an awful, clunky and uncomfortable bore of an interviewer! Such a self-righteous prick who keeps criticizing her for being confident and honest. Correcting her and controlling every aspect of what she says and telling her what to do! This interview must have been torture for her!!
@BonaDun I'm from Denmark, but have a hard time understanding Swedish. Would MUCH rather speak English... The different accents/pronunciations can really complicate matters. LOL! :)
I love get just nit in this vid she has long hair ugly close I am SO happy she changed but yet again I love her so I would except her no matter how she looked
yeah, how could she feel comfortable around that host? He was totally attacking her and making jokes at her expense - what a total, overly serious arrogant jerk! He kept trying to tell her what to do! This must be where she got the inspiration for her song: "Don't F***ing tell me what to do!"
I'm such a late bloomer to ROBYN. But i love her and her music. 💘🎵😍
She should have been a bigger star than she is now. I am genuinely impressed with her interviews. I love how open-minded she is.
She didn't want bigger success. She talked a little about that here.
She's such a sweetheart ❤️
I like the way Robyn wears her hair, but she looks GREAT with long hair.
LOVING this long hair look on her. Wish she'd try it again!
Great interview, thanks for posting it. Robyn seems such a cool person, she's very witty and smart, and she comes across very confident without being smug or arrogant. I just think she's awesome.
So cute,great singer aswell.
so cute and lovely, I love ROBYN!!!
ok wether she's swedsh or not she's human and she communicates so good. i love her and she has so much passion. love her
It *is* the best song on the album!
Wow she looks so nice with the long hair
Man.....don't you hate it when someone keeps forcing you to keep explaining very simplistic things, Robyn?
Agreed. She says it's the best song she ever did.
She's cocky, but when you have the talent to back it up (as she does) you're just being true to yourself. That swagger is part of what makes her so cool, iconic and dare I say it sexy.
Cocky usually means insecurity. None of the greatest singers were never cocky(whitney, monica, etc) and Robyn was never a great singer.

Så vacker =)
The interviewer is tedious. Robyn is brilliant.
It IS the best song on the album!
she only listened to the best of the best and look where it took her:)
She has stated she wants fame and success, but at a distance. Not the kind of fame where she's controlled, and has to be always guarded. Smart girl.
it's so weird to see her with long hair
Yeah. Swedes can understand danish...but it can also be hard for both sides to understand it. So it's best for a english speaking interview.
and is pretty cool to her fans! :-)

I did notice some similarities between Dutch words and Swedish words when used in this thing.
I loved his interview with Snoop Dogg.
I had u huge crush on Robyn back in 97

she dissed him 10:55

What is this code of conduct that they speak of? Janteloven?
Não sei porque gosto tanto de você, mas gosto

That's his style and that's what makes him unique. Don't be such a woos.
whyt does the interviewers face look distorted?
mmm. i'd love to learn danish, but I do have friends in sweden... :O what should I do?!?!
HAHA so interesting!
@BonaDun I'm from Denmark, but have a hard time understanding Swedish. Would MUCH rather speak English... The different accents/pronunciations can really complicate matters. LOL! :)
Dansken prata fan bra engelska för att vara dansk.
so weird that they're speaking English when their countries are so close to each other..Norwegians understand both Swedish and Danish..js...
this host is like America's Conan lollll
She shades him at the end no handshake
@soulsurvivor2001 or any girl? ;)
She seems slightly fidgety in this, because the interviewer seemed to be increasingly rude to her. I would have been uncomfortable by the end of that.
yeah, but written danish is easier to understand than spoken danish.
With her hair like that she looks a lot like my high school Biology teacher, lol.
she is especially nice with long hair, but with short no
"How good I and how bad everyone else is!?" Really?
a big no no, scandinavians should be able to speak to eachother without using english ( i´m not counting in the finnish language though).
I love get just nit in this vid she has long hair ugly close I am SO happy she changed but yet again I love her so I would except her no matter how she looked
i like her better with short hair
@BonaDun swedes like to say that they understand danish but really, danish is impossible. norweigan, on the other hand, is quite similar to swedish.
in some ways danes and sweds CAN (but most of the time not) be like the union and the confederacy back in the USA but each thinking they are the union
Dang. Do swedes and people form denmark hate each other? LOL
i should marry her.
oh my god that clapping from the audience was so embarrassing. Dorky Danes! haha

hot babe huh
woah, long hair and boring clothes. i'm glad she changed, it's like she's completely herself now, it really shows.
She is fine 4 a white woman
Racist
