Glenn Gould never had this perfect control and the sound is so German and stolid. A type of cold ,never sentimental or flowery! Even Tureck didnt get this directness almost unpianistic totally unRomanticized ideal in her playing! This is truly fine. The Scarlatti is so perfect i dont believe its possible on a single piano. I believe its studio perfecting. Its impossible to get a Scarlatti both Michelangeli and Horowitz come nowhere near it! I wonder if either ever heard this genius!!@???

The lines, the voicing, the colours, the articulations, the pedalling, the dynamics, the durations, the phrasing, the characters...He is tridimensional. I am sure that Steinway still remembers.

Maestro Pogorelich displays an intriguing and impressive combination between natural grandeur and subtlety throughout this recital, and that's why so many people turn green with envy when they hear him perform. His aristocratic good looks do the rest.

Just a friendly heads-up about a typo: at 1:05:10 Pogorelich plays the K. 1 in d minor, not the K. 15. The K. 15 is in e minor. RUclips videos indicate that Pogorelich often played the K. 1 as a concert encore. But in my view he never played it better than he does here.

people always have to say "its too fast, its too slow" does that add something? does that change something?
opinions are like assholes, everybody got one.
    just enjoy the music

+Geert Huinink how can you listen to Bach and not believe that there are objective standards by which we measure the quality of music?

    • @ghuinink

Although i feel and experience that Bach's music is among the purest and noblest currently present on earth, I don't think it is a good thing to judge and rank. Because where does it end, and why would you do it? To give your own taste more value as oppose to others? The only judgement you can have with absolute certainty is that you yourself value some music above other music. Doing it for the whole of humanity is a form of arrogance.

+Geert Huinink Although I see where you are coming from, Geert, I am not sure I agree. Since there is no shortage of ill-informed people who have no hesitation in proclaiming the most mediocre musical doodlings are "genius", which creates a sort of received opinion that, say, "Coldplay are great", surely it behoves those of us with ears, a brain, musical taste, and, dare I say it, a soul, to proclaim the timeless and eternal supremacy of the greatest classical masters, if only to give confidence to the new convert to this music that the sublime qualities of this music they are discovering is not a mirage, and that they are not deluded, pretentious or wrong in thinking that this music is, indeed, amongst the greatest ever written?

-- 34:20 la Sarabande est un chef-d’œuvre en soi & Ivo Pogorelich la joue de la plus belle des façons. Il est un très grand pianiste, superbe enregistrement. --

ivo is way beyond sound, ...pogorelich has the most powerful and perfect union of form, harmony and melody,
i have no doubt he is the best interpreter ever, surpassing maria callas and horowitz, and at the level of the greatest composers to whom he seems to play for.

The way Ivo played "Für Elise" reminds me on how Horowitz played "Träumerei" ( Schumann) in Moscow. Bravissimo!
