March 7th Past Revealed?.. Sort Of | Honkai Star Rail Lore

- March 7th is one of the main members of the nameless and literally the first person we meet in game. There is a a lot of mystery surrounding most of Honkai Star Rails main characters and when it comes to March 7th its her past that is the most mysterious.
That is to say she doesnt seem to remember what it even is and her whole journey is about uncovering her past. In her companion quest it does seem like March 7ths past has been revealed, well sort of. There have always been hints at what exactly Marchs origins are and so in this video we will determine whether her latest companion quest reveals everything about March 7ths past
Some part of this video comes from the actual honkai star rail lore while others may be speculation on my part as we currently do not know the full story. As such take it with a grain of salt as the point of this video is just a deeper dive into Honkai Star Rail lore.

Many seem to have missed one thing is that the Garden does not seem to be one faction. When you meet the messanger is that Fu says that the messanger is of one faction of the garden, this leads to that March is linked to Fuli but what faction did this.
Oh I kinda missed that, I happen to know that the garden's 'other' faction were the cremators but itd be pretty interesting if there were factions within the garden itself with different agenda and how that might change March's affiliation with them
Imagine March was Sadistic & Merciless that's why garden recollection want to protect her true Character

pure copium but ill like to see that side of her being like the alter version of march 7th like from fate being playable as a 5 star/new path
I honestly think this was hinted at with the True Sting thing. As we saw, Argenti accurately hallucinated a waboo (or whatever they're called) without ever seeing before, just based on Caelus mentioning them and being interested in seeing one.
March hallucinating her real self as a rather sadistic seeming being is probably also accurate.
I also noticed upon reroll that, interestingly enough, depending on your dialogue options, March seems like 2 different people. On my original account, she was very cute and nice and innocent seeming, but after choosing options she disliked on reroll, she quickly becomes notably rude and insufferable. There also lines like Caelus calling her capricious when she votes to go to the Loufu.
She's probably one of Eons who's supposed to be dead. And garden is trying to protect her from gaining her memories cause her current human body cannot handle conciusness of a god. So if she recover her memories she'll go insane most likely.

The dream Herta mentions the possibility of her being a depowered form of an Aeon. This would mesh with the idea that her past before getting frozen in that ice was nothing of her concern, since it would technically belong to a different entity anyway. There are a couple 'missing' Aeons who could be candidates, though I will point out that 'Cuteness' could be interpreted as a lesser form of 'Beauty' and taking pictures as a way of preserving beautiful moments in time.
Lmao. The game pointing that out was their way of poking fun at people who subscribe to that exact theory. If it isn't obvious enough, the writers for this game love trolling people who read way too much between the lines that they make their own headcanon.
@AdrianArmbruster Beauty is one of those paths that no matter how many times i read about, just doesnt make sense to me what exactly they follow but in the swarm event they have been cropping up in increasing amounts
@FrenchDinosaurThe devs do poke fun at a lot of this, like there was that event in the xianzhou luofu where we retold the story but was changed to include a bunch embellishments. Its still fun though to just think about theories and what might happen, i kinda view it like reading manga and theres a cliffhanger, you just cant help speculating 😂

The depowered thing makes more sense since in a literal sense aeons of greater entail can overbear pre-existing aeons, such rendering the aeon useless
so to say March has no connection to the past isn't just to say she has no connection to her previous life, a different entitiy
but that the very concept of her previous life does not exist as hers, nor her past life
her life, soul, and character are belonging of whatever greater aeon, and as such she'd rightfully be an empty shell of what she may have been beforehand
it's a great way to sell a march inhibitor lunae type second form and im all for it
@@FrenchDinosaur This seems like a headcanon, itself, given that stuff like Dan Heng being a dragon turned out to be correct. I something as silly and crackpot theory as "cool dragon young" can be foreshadowing, a lot of things can.
Being able to wipe your memory is pretty terrifying
Imagine if the memory is traumatic or just something really bad, getting them back might not be as fun either
I have no idea what March's past is but I know of 3 things that are very relevant to her as a character. The first thing is a non spoiler, she is very likely inspired by Nono from Gunbuster 2, a mysterious pink haired girl with amnesia found floating in space in an iceberg. Da Wei is a huge Gainax fan, Honkai was inspired by Evangelion and Gunbuster is Gainax's masterpiece. The next 2 things are spoilers from Honkai 3rd:
2nd thing is that March is straight up designed to look similar to Elysia from HI3rd, but is definitely not her for many reasons. March's official art is the exact same pose as Elysia and they both use ice/crystals and bows, both have pink hair and are very proud of their beauty etc.. Even though these characters have many similarities, most players don't believe they are the same character, or even alternate universe versions, because of spoiler reasons, Elysia is one and only, only she herself can be her. However what she represents can be passed on to others.
Elysia represents Ego, as in the Self, and Origin. You are your own center of your universe, you are your own origin. Origin also has another meaning with is even more relevant to March, Finality is the start of a new Origin, when something ends, it means the start of a new thing. This is teased during the story quest itself, questioning whether March was the survivor of a universe that ended, her memories could have been taken away to give her a new Origin in this universe, to start anew.
The 3rd thing is that's March's colour scheme is a recurring Hoyoverse motif, the pink and blue colour scheme is used on very specific and important objects - the Cocoon of Finality from HI3rd and Primogems. The Cocoon of Finality also has an "eye" with the Primogem shape as its iris. Kiana the Herrscher of Finality herself also has this colour scheme, and a character named Aponia who looks like the Genshin Welkin Moon lady also has Primogen designs all over her costume with the same pink/blue colour. For some unknown reason this pink/blue Primogem motif has been recurring through out Hoyoverse and there's no real indication of what it actually means yet.
And HI3rd part one ended with a train leaving for the Cocoon of Finality while Canon in D is playing, guess what, Honkai Star Rail started out with Canon in D being played by Kafka. There's some kind of thematic carryover that we don't really understand fully yet that's happening. Is March the Origin or Finality, is she Elysia or Kiana? She appears to be neither but something that's closely related.
The pink and blue star motif represents hope. Elysia and Kiana both represented hope for the future, to overcome obstacles. Although Elysian realm was made of memories from the past it was to inspire and guide the future. Elysia was literally the turning point for the future civilizations of the next era to give herrschers control over themselves through sacrificing herself. Kiana sacrificed herself to stay on the moon after becoming HoF as to not corrupt others, she also never gave up hope and 'fought for all that is beautiful in the world'. Kiana was created to be hope for Otto to control the honkai, and she ended up being the worlds hope.
I think March is hope and the reason she is supposed to only be in the present and look forward isn't JUST because her past is so horrible and traumatizing but also because she is carrying hope for the future even unknowingly, as Kiana and Elysia didn't know what important role they would play in the future of their world until a moment of realization or awakening. Its possible March isn't ready for that realization yet, hence why the rememberance or whatever is telling her to not go looking.
I love comments that deep dive like this into HI3 because there seems to be too much to read up on, and I’ve never known where to actually look. I honestly don’t know if much has changed since you leaving this comment in terms of both Honkai games, but it’s certainly pretty interesting to think about. The world is a leaf on a branch of the imaginary tree, and it’s continually going through cycles of destruction and rebirth. March is the essence of the old world that Fuli had saved from destruction and brought to the new world.

imagine if march is a memokeeper and fuli preserved her to save her cuz she likes to "record memories" so it might be a trait to her being a memokeeper like black swan says "there's another memokeeper on penacony"

Imagine that plot twist
After some thinking i found a differenent angle to approach. What if march simply doesnt have a past and she was actually born and formed inside that ice? What if March is some kind of "personification" or manifestation of cheerfull memories from someone else, maybe an Aeon? This is hypothesis ofc but i find that angle also being quite interesting.
Goos idea i also kinda hat that idea when I did the quest

I always believe trailblazer actually linked with the train. Aeon died and leaving the train abandoned. Only to return traveling across the galaxy thanks to himeko and pom pom.
Meanwhile, I believe march 7th may linked to fuli. This aeon may delete her memory for good reason. It may linked with trailblazer as well. People call march stupid and annoying. Meanwhile, people also call fu xuan kinda annoying for being too serious and meticulous. The way she explain things make it sounds complicated. But I like both of them.
That messanger actually in the train. We defeat monsters in moc. That means march and trailblazer may connected. Meanwhile dan heng is decendants of long. It's different than march and trailblazer/mc. Imagine if march remember all of her memory, it will change her personality into dark path. I love her for being cheerful and kind to her friend. Just like my younger sister who always love camera. She is outgoing, cheerful, and kind as bright sun.
But after saw my dad cheat on my mom with her own eyes, then she change into rude and mean to everyone. She hate camera. My dad passed away but she hate men. So I wish march stays the same. According to kafka, trailblazer may fight the nanook. So, I wish march still on trailblazer side. If all star rail crews get so serious and all smart, then it will be boring. She is not stupid. People just can't stop hate her.

exactly, the hate directed at her was so unnecessary. she's going to play a really important role in the future for this game, i just know it. but i do hope she doesn't regain her past memory back ever if it means she will face a change. other than that, she's such a sweet character nd i am so attached to her:(
I strongly believe when march gets a stronger version will be with her being practically a cocoon to a hsr diety, and the conflict on wether her past can weight her down enough to ruin her or rise adbove it and stay as cheerful as she is

9:10 let me cook for a second here, what if March was originally from Penacony (or some other planet associated with The Family), she witnessed some unspeakable act by either/or The Family or Xipe and an aeon sealed her in 6 phased ice. Sometime during the Penacony story what if March Meets Black Swan and then the truth might be revealed or something like that, if so i am both Scared and excited to see how the story will unfold!
Well, the trailblazer was stabbed in jarilo VI and got a power up, Dan heng got stabbed in the xianzhou and got a power up, maybe March would get stabbed in penacony and get a power up this time haha

IIRC Eileen never actually came out. I thought she was a concept design from a while ago
to add to this theory a little, the 5 star light cone of preservation from simulated universe has this in it's description:
"The universe was like a badland filled with rubbish.
There were the occasional treasure that lies undiscovered.
they looked through the cracks of the past, choosing seeds of memory.
...If a new life was to be born, its seed has to be dead.
Precious stones of pink, blue, and white were brought forth,
twinkling gently in their seed plot, even though the universe held onto its enigmatic silence."
Looking back at march 7th's memory quest and what it implies there, along with how you interpreted it, it's possible this lines up with March 7th being from a captured memory brought back to life, as the "precious stones of pink, blue, and white" can reference the 6 phased ice as well as March's color scheme, and the Garden wanting to protect her at all costs like she's something PRECIOUS.
seeing as this lightcone feels oddly built for March herself, as the original lightcones for simulated universe lined up perfectly to be tailor made for the starter trio, I feel it's fair to use their lore here, just like genshin's weapons and artifacts have lore for specific characters as well. more so when you consider lightcones are incredibly similar to genshin's artifacts in that they're crystalized memories in a way.
Whether or not you take the light cone descriptions into account, it's very clear that March is very VERY involved with Fuli, regardless of whether or not she herself remembers. perhaps one day she will gain those memories, when it's safer to handle them, and maybe she'll get another playable form like Dan, but that one's a bit of wishful thinking and reading too much into forshadowing that might not even be there. just interesting we have a character who's entire deal is not having her memory and the game gave us a new playable Dan Heng where he got a powerup after being forced to confront his memories, or rather, his past life's memories.
which begs the question, if March really did die and get brought back, would any memories from before being encased in six phased ice be considered "memories of a past life?"
A crazy action from Aha vs Foli? Imagine if he was able to strip special/secrets memorys from him and gave theme to a human, we saw him give all the powers to a worm afther all, for fun.
So Fuli needed to get things in order but march was an innocent in the matter so they tried to solve the problem with the less possible amount of problems for her
The messagger so care for her but it's a half mask, they care for her bc she can't bring those memory back, it would be the end of her but big huge problem for Foli and i think this time, only solution to solve the matter is going to kill her and even if they sometimes they do thing not so morally correct, killing is not one of theme
Imagine Aha warching Foli be mad to solve this problem, lot of fun uh? Messing with an Aeon, it's a next level of fun vs messing with other inferior creatures, Fuli is also one of the few Aeon that has all his thing in order, pin point precision and perfect in every aspect, like a shelf with everything ordered with a precise method, yeah, very bad to put something out of place, very fun.
I really do hope march 7th gets a 5* in this upcoming story in penacony

Welt was pretty scared of accepting March on the train, but Pom Pom reassured him. He thought that the train would not be safe with her inside, so I think she has done something terribile, or at least someone or something very powerful is searching for her. Also, he thought that she'll feel alienated, so I'm pretty sure she is not human, or she has charateristics that doesn't make her human anymore. Welt knows her origin.
Welt was worried because they had no idea of who she was as a person and why she had been imprisoned in ice, what if she had enemies who could attack the Express ? When he talks about her feeling alienated, maybe he just means that she could have a hard time fitting in since she doesn't know anybody in the Express at this point.

I doubt it. Welt may have been a herrscher, but i doubt he knows her origin. I think its just that he thought she would feel out of place there with them. Also, how would he know? They found her just floating in space

Oo oo oo theory idea: how does the matrix of prescience and omnisia work?
I think that was explained pretty well in March’s quest. Basically it takes information and details involving the situation and predicts the most possible outcomes. Kafka also says something pretty interesting about how the future is just a sequence of events pieced together and nothing is really that unpredictable.

The Matrix of Prescience is basically a supercomputer with advanced stochastic capabilities. That is to say, it takes the information it is fed and puts forth the most probable conjecture based on it (i.e.it makes its best educated guess). Note that it can simulate postcognition as well as precognition (among other things), which is why Fu Xuan agreed to allow its use to extrapolate March's past. Basically, Fu Xuan is so convinced of the quality of the Matrix's conjectures that she (and the rest of the Loufu) takes it on faith that it is always right.
My understanding of it based on fuxuans explanation is that it functions pretty much close to how data science works, using information and well, data, to make predictions. The more info you have the more accurate the predictions become, what im really curious about is why Nous gave them this tool in the first place
@@Maevix3142 my initial guess a to why Nous gave them the Matrix is that it reinforces an analytical, Erudition-friendly way of looking at the world. In other words, it's a way of encouraging the Lan-following Xianzhou to partake of its Path.
A more cynical way of looking at it is to say Nous, as a machine intelligence, is trying to get organics to surrender more of their thinking to machines. 😉

What if her past/memories got messed with by a follower of Enigmata? So maybe they messed with her memories that may have made her go insane? So the memokeepers had to erase her memories and incase her in ice? And guarding her even while she's incased in ice, because she might get messed with by a follower of enigmata again? (I don't know that much about the lore so if i made mistakes in my assumptions feel free to correct me if i did)
If it was Mythus, maybe Mythus sealed her memories and Fulli is helping to keep them sealed for some reason? The Aeons have worked together before, like when some of them came together to stop The Propagation.
Imagine March was Tsaritsa (cryo archon) from GI ) We already have Welt from other world, soooo why not?

there is no text, story nor reference in the game that would suggest that memories which are made into lightcones are lost to their original owners.
Yup its not mentioned anywhere so its an either or situation, if lightcones did work that way then that idea is serviceable but if not then the idea doesnt
Honestly I think we are being misled by intentionally making it seems like it's all about the Remembrance... I mean don't you think it's weird how they make it mysterious yet all info lead to fuli and his path the remembrance? As if they intentionally making us believe it's fuli doing which likely to be true but actually hiding the full context... By making a smokescreen a misdirection tactics...
Whoever it was & probably Fuli is one of those who Making all of this happen... Make it so The nameless found march and then latter own meets the all so unique MC
It does honestly seem to be quite on the nose with her past being associated with the remembrance. I dont discount that it could be something else entirely i mean it could also be Mythus and enigmata trying to cover up her origins or something and pretending to be the garden of recollection but right now I suppose the obvious answer is the most likely one? That said i'd love for some twist to happen here
In my head canon, March is the fragments of Fuli. Take it or leave it.

yeah i had the same theory too. tha fact that this quest came and also the introduction of the path of beauty is oddly suspicious.
Honestly I just play through this and this literally feels like such a waste of time compared to Dan Heng's amazing backstory. Dan Heng, and Welt might be the only interesting Astral Express members Welt simply cause he isn't from this universe and Dan Heng since Dan Feng is who he use to be.
