I appreciate the commentary on the rod rating! I’ve avoided big wake and swim baits because I don’t have a rod rated for them, but might give one a shot.
I am in Florida . I grew up in Ohio and at that time a 5 pound bass was really big . In Florida the largest was 12.5 . on a black worm . I fished Lake Thonotosassa near Tampa for years and that gave me the 12.5 . I also have had something that inhaled a Jitter Bug pulled my 16 foot canoe around for a few minutes . Regarding this topic of squirrels and maybe other things bass eat , add small gators . I was fishing the shore with a frog and a small gator grabbed it and as I was pulling it in , guess what , the just over 10 pound bass grabbed it all and gave me a fun fight . I have learned that the LARGER gators love the top water bass .The top water splashing that some of your fish would call gators for dinner . After several came up the bank or aggressively to the canoe I just quit fishing in Florida . Part of me chuckles to myself with the 5 pound monsters , but the only fishing I want to do now is what you guys do . I will give up the not unusual 10 pound Florida bass for a 2 pound smallie any day .
Matt!!! Great fish sir. Lol, that lure is something else. I found this beetle looking lure and it made me think of you haha. Keep the content coming man. We all appreciate you and your zen.
Such a cool lure! Reminds me of the CL8 baby possum wake...i have a couple & they are really cool baits...big, too..the full size possum lure is insane 😂
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, you know your habitat. So Matt, about how many hours of fishing did you need to compress into this recent video. Either way, nice going on getting those lunkers,Matt!
Have you ever had a bass come up and slam a lure while you're just testing the action? That would be a really cool hookup to catch on film. Love Saturdays!!!
I was fishing with a frog the other day (literally went to a pond 15 mins and was on the phone with my mother for the first 20 mins figuring out travel arrangements) and I got 10+ bites and was just awesome but I couldn’t get the hook set on 70% of them man idk what it was! Then the following few days I’ve went and for HOURS I could maybe get one bite throughout the whole pond on an even (seemingly) better fishing day
Brother your first bass was a beast coming to net with a full cabbage salad. Sweet. Then close out with the 5# fish better than the first. Hah, why not? Thanks for taking us along Matt for another Saturday morning paddle. Blessings
I'd take 2 of those in 6-8 hrs of fishing vs 10-12 medium size fish. Great video. Question: is this squirrel lure labeled as a bass lure, or bass, pike, muskie etc?
You should try to find a skunk lure! And not get “skunked”. Wouldn’t that be funny? Also I’d love to meet you at “good ;) medicine” some day for some smallies
Dude, I'm gonna save this one until tonight. My 6 year old daughter loved the one with the mouse (without its tail). She'll love this. Keep it up, man!
I saw that overcast sky when you caught that 5 pounder and I said to myself, those conditions look right for a big fish. I cannot emphasize how envious I am with you catching those tanks on topwater. You're very fortunate to live in such a great area for big bass.
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Matt 👋🥸... 4:35 DAMMMMMMMMMMMMM 😳... you could knock them fish out with that lure or start a mini tsunami and collect the bass off the shore line... lmaoooo 🤣🤣🤣🤣... good stuff mang... see you on the next one an stay safe out there... Buh Bye from Central Canada👋🤓
My girl and I love your videos man and all the cool lures you try and wisdom you share. Would be Super cool if you made a video going for flathead cats👀we Desperately want to catch one but haven’t had much luck other than struggle. Thank you for being you
Having lived in your area for many years I'm beginning to think you are in some parallel universe where the lakes aren't completely surrounded by homes and the lake not jammed full of wake boats and jet skis. You were the only person on the lake. It's no wonder you never disclose where you're fishing. Nicely done!
In your opinion what is the best time to fish ? And also in your opinion between lakes, rivers, and ponds which do you like fishing most ? Watch your videos all the time. Learning how to fish with the frog by watching how you move yours
Must be Saturday morning.
I’m getting skunked everyday and he’s out here catching bass with squirrels 😂😂😂 well done sir!
Right? 😅
You're not alone 😅
LMAO...
It is that time of the year, plus the storm got my area bummed out. I live in southern illinois and it went right over us. Raining for 2 days now. :/
It’s the spot he’s fishing find you own hidden fishing spots
The squires are no longer safe
Rocky? Okay, but you start tossing Bullwinkle around and I'm outtahere!
Met a guy from ND the other day. I asked if he watches you? When he didn't, I told him you are a national treasure!

Looks more like a rat... squirrels have furry tails
NDYA: Big lure, big Bass
Me: Big lure, Bass smaller than lure 😂.
Lure : 🐿️
Tail : 🐀
My usual favorite Saturday video!
Mine as well!👍
Great Show! I dig it when you measure and weigh the fish!!
I woke at 6M and went fishing this morning. Nada, nothing, zero...
Thats how it goes sometimes 😔😤
@@somewhere-n-Texasthat’s how it goes almost every time around my area 😢
Beats working all day any day of the week!
Your videos are so chill and amazing
Every time you say get in my net, I always think get in my belly from Austin powers
That's like his catchphrase!
Me too! And i usually giggle like a 13 yr old.
What was your water temperature today if you checked thanks
You caught my PB twice
No joke lol 😂
That’s not a squirrel, it’s a cute rat.
You're living my future retirement.
Never clicked on a video so fast. When I see a new topwater ND video, it’s time to stop whatever I’m doing 🤣
That's a big ass bate brother. Rob from California.
bob ross off bass fishing at 8am hits great☕☕
Babe wake up, NDY uploaded.
I'll be out on the water this morning! You've inspired me.
NoDak and chill
It must be fun to wake up and think where do I want to fish today.
I thought this lure was far to big, oh was i wrong.
NDYak video in the morning. College football on all day long. Life is good
Thank you Matt! You’re the man! I’ve been addicted to your vids for years and it’s simply awesome to see you enjoying our baits now!
Matt!!! Great fish sir. Lol, that lure is something else.

I was saying 4.5 lbs on that 1st Bass. Lure acks more like a rat IMO. That's a big'n, nice one on the PB!!!!
Probably should have thrown it on a 7’10” extra heavy fast. 300 size reel. But you know already know this. lol
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, you know your habitat. So Matt, about how many hours of fishing did you need to compress into this recent video.
Either way, nice going on getting those lunkers,Matt!
You should get the Shimano slx 7'3" swim bait rod 1 to 4oz perfect kayak swim bait rod

Who would have guessed, Matt, you out landing big bass on a squirrel, you never cease to amaze me! Take care and be safe!
I'd take 2 of those in 6-8 hrs of fishing vs 10-12 medium size fish. Great video.
Question: is this squirrel lure labeled as a bass lure, or bass, pike, muskie etc?
Looks more like western MN than eastern NoDak, me thinks. My guess would be around Park Rapids.
Nice Squaccum breakfast. What's the largemouth record in North Dakota? Is it over ten?
5 pounders are more frequent in southwest Oklahoma but they aren’t built like your butterballs. Those bass are beautiful.
There's 12 pounders, Harris chain of lakes in Florida, 6.2, is my largest
Good fishing, Andy, I tried to buy the same Luiz that you fish with like the squirrel lure and I can’t find them anywhere thanks
You should try to find a skunk lure! And not get “skunked”. Wouldn’t that be funny? Also I’d love to meet you at “good ;) medicine” some day for some smallies
I would like this same lure but all black. With red eyes would be cool also. Thanks for the vid NDYA.
Dude, I'm gonna save this one until tonight. My 6 year old daughter loved the one with the mouse (without its tail). She'll love this. Keep it up, man!
3 beautiful bass that way almost 13 pounds , I’d take that every day ! Fantastic !!
Good fish. Not a squirrel though. It's a rat. Has a tail like a rat; swims like a rat. :-)
Amazing how you consistantly catch quality fish on lures that honestly i wouldnt look twice at.. i might have to rethink my whole strategy
What's next, a skunk bait. I can hardly catch a stopped bus and NDY catches fish on animals!
How long does an average kayak bottom last. Great squirrel fishing.
Matt, your reaction time to those strikes is impeccable!! Another awesome video!!
Love all the different top water baits you throw n was cool to see them bigger ones eatin that Squirrel!!! Very nice!
I love AC SHINER. YOU CAN'T FIND THEM ON STORE SHELVES ANYMORE INTERNET YOU CAN MADE OUT BALSAWOOD YOU ARE WRIGHT LET IT SIT STILL
It's been a tough year for me with fishing. Only gotten a few decent ones. Not much of anything biting this year.
Now that I see what you're catching, I guess I'll have to hit that lake again before it ices over. Nice fish Matt!
Wow, the squirrel lure looks like the rat bait you used a while back. Hope it's just as good.
I'm going kayaking soon - this morning +4 maybe the pike will bite
I have every lure known to except a squirrel, I've been doing it wrong 😂😂😂😅😅😅
Nice fish. Doubt I will ever sling a squirrel. Just me I guess. 😃
Anybody recommend squirrels for live bait?
Is this the lake that you got your BP bass on with your grandfather mouse lure
You know the old saying: if you want to catch big fish, use a big lure.
You would think that big splash would scare all the fish away.
Really nice fish, maybe not quanity but defintly, quality.
Great video as usual. What water temp or time of year do you stop throwing top water?
Great fishing day today! Two very nice fishezzz
Do we need lures this big to catch those big bass? Will they bite small jigs?
St croixs will definitely break if you over load
That lake sure produces for you! Thanks for the share.
I’m moving to ND, what lake is this? I NEED to know
Love the videos I always like you on my school computer too lol
😂😂 that thing sounds like a plane crashing in the water
Kinda squirrel day on the lake, giant bass.
the lure is sick, those bass were sick... i got a fever
I thought squirrels had hairy tails? 😂
☺God, this squirrel bait looks like a mouse.
My favorite day. Another ndyak vid.
Love it. Thanks for sharing
Fishing with a squirrel is nuts.
That lure squeaks like a squirrel, too.
Dang that thing looks good swimming !
Ummm sir... that's a RAT lol
The tail looks more rat like. Tree rat?
Once the sun comes up. Top water is over.😊
No way, man! I’ll be throwing frogs all day if there’s the proper pads/mats.
I fish scum frogs during a full sun limit out . KVD Wake on slightly overcast days .
@@danieltaylor9459yeah dude’s missing out because I also catch bass all hours of the day especially on a 🐸
Congrats on the fiver!

That 5+ lb. Bass was beautiful!! When are you going to hit the river again for Northern Pike & Muskie?
It would be cool to have a Bob Ross video in the corner of your videos, and your narration coincides with him painting landscapes.
Unique lure choice. It makes sense though since bass crush mouse lures.
Congrats on the big bass! That lure hits the water like a grenade!

Hey. Been struggling to find a proper net. What is the one you use called ? and do you remember the size ?
