@@pasifinland Sure i get that Finland is culturally not part of Scandinavia and never said it was. But geographically its just easier to say Scandianavia rather than saying each country seperately or add Finland to the end of everything. I've never been to Norway or Sweden and only been to Helsinki, so yeah i need to see more of that part of europe.
@@JustinWatson23 Nordic or Scandinavia, I think not a biggie really. "Scandinavia" is often used as a synonym for the entire Nordic region, though officially only the 3 monarchies DEN NOR SWE are called Scandinavia. Finland has always have a close connection to Sweden, Finland was a part of the Kingdom of Sweden for 700y and the Swedish language still is the 2nd official in Finland.
It's funny you can lock your cabinet - in Finland, it's almost unheard of anyone going in and stealing anything. Finns are on the same level as Japanese in honesty. E.g. if you drop your wallet somewhere, it will likely be returned to lost & found with even the money intact.
I’m of Swedish ancestry and my maternal grandfather’s middle name was Ludwig (I think with a w) so I love hearing that name throughout your very entertaining videos. Would love to travel to the home of my ancestors
I Love The Bear Bare Beer Joke & I Truly Enjoyed Watching The Video & I Hope Yours & Ludvigs Journey Continues To Get Incredibly Amazing For The Both You Chloe ❤🥰
Very cool! I was wondering when you took the trip so glad you shared that and were lucky enough to still have snow then! Not meaning to be a downer, but with Finland being so close to Russia, was there any sense of unease or alertness to do with that? I’d love to do that train trip one day, and I think around the same time so it’s not dark the entire time
Yes we were very lucky to have lots of snow! A staff member at Santa’s village says the best time to visit Lapland is March. Still get winter weather, everything’s open, yet a lot less crowded. We were very aware in the back of our minds, but I guess since we were only there for less than a week❤️
@@chloeandludvig I certainly is! Especially in the area where I live. We are tucked into a lovely river valley and the views all around are amazing. It does get a tad dreary during parts of the spring and fall but the summers of almost constant daylight and the winters with trees coated in magical looking frost (hoarfrost we call it) often take my breath away. Of course I could do without those -30° to -55° cold snaps we get for a few weeks every winter but we can't have everything.
Hey guys! Ludwig's bunk gymnastics are hilarious, but at least the shower has more headroom than the bunk!😂 I love train vlogs and it was while searching for them that your channel popped up in my feed. I am sooo glad that it did; you guys are great! May your many travels be accompanied by much wedded bliss!❤💕 (And enough room for Frost-Giant Ludwig.)
By the way, did you notice that the interior door handles of the VR train carriages have a picture of a palm and it has six fingers. It's on purpose, and already from the 1980s. It can be seen in the video at 17:25
Dude that price for the cabin and breakfast is amazing. Way better than Amtrak cabin prices. I’m thinking of doing a 65 hour Chicago to LA Amtrak in coach 😂😂😂 cuz of the room prices
The phone booth in the train is needed mainly because the connection is usually very bad when the train is moving! Inside that small room your connection is much better. And yes ofcourse it's also about privacy.
In case you were wondering, the announcement in the morning was for people traveling with cars. (Reminder to get up early and instructions on how to get their vehicle.)
Some trivia that might enlighten the secret about night trains on the main track being on schedule. They stop or at least used to stop for a couple of hours near Tampere if they had the time to do so.
Hi new subscriber from Australia 🇦🇺 here. Congratulations 🎊 on your nuptials. Just discovered your channel, enjoying adventuring along with you guys from my lounge room in Forster. NSW. ❤❤ NAMASTE. Ps, your eyes are stunning.
One of the nicer train cabins and overnight trains I've seen. I'm not at all claustrophobic so its relatively small size seemed perfectly fine to me, along with the really cute and efficient bathroom with shower (actually gives me some ideas for a camper van I've been building in my imagination). Plus something about train travel in winter with snow all around and everything lifeless and frozen just seems right. In summer there's this urge to stop the train and get out at every turn, especially on more scenic routes. But in winter it's so cold and desolate that you feel lucky to be inside all snug and warm. I've traveled by train in both seasons and think I prefer winter. Of course it was in the Rockies and Cascades, which helps.
Does anyone here can please tell me if there is a substantial difference between old sleeping shower cabins and the more recent ones (2010 forward)? I'm trying to book and the difference is humongous!! only because there is a new schedule added (support told me). But I'm terryfing to discover that I decided wrong in the end!?
G’day & Kiora, not wanting to pry but how do you afford all of your travels ? I love travelling but it takes me & my wife a year to save for a P&O cruise 🤠
Very fair question! Well, we both work regular jobs at the moment and over the past few years we’ve spent the majority of our money of travel. Along with this we’ve started to earn an income on RUclips which by no means covers the travel, but it definitely helps! We’ve also just started to work with sponsors, which again doesn’t begin to cover our expeditions but all of the little bits help!
@@chloeandludvig Thank you for your honest answer & that’s great that RUclips are backing you in. I made a little bit of money from it but I did get business endorsements for doing projects for a few companies so stick with it 👍🍻
Where did you find that adorable, goofy sloth that you had with you in your train cabin? Did we really just witness part of your honeymoon? Of course any human who speaks has an accent. It's hilarious that US ppl claim that we have none! Your honey speaks with an American accent, with a hint of something European in there - like someone who moved to the USA as a young teen. If he only started speaking English regularly as an adult, kudos to him. He's very fluent! Don't let anyone tell you that you're pronouncing any word wrong in your lovely Kiwi dialect 🇳🇿❤
Haha thanks for your comment! Ludvig is actually from Sweden would you believe it! He grew up learning English on movies and songs so I’m guessing that’s where the American sounding accent comes from 😁
Swedish is mandatory in all levels of Finnish education - however only few people really speaks Swedish, since outside of coastal areas we dont need it and rarely hear it :) So we just forget. And most Finns are not really that motivated to learn it because of that.
Going with shoes to inside home, room and bed just can cause me a hear attack! You went up to your clean bed with your shoes. Please do not go to clean bed with your shoes that you walked outside in particularly the most crowded places. It is not hygienic.
Congratulations on your wedding! 🎉❤🎉🍾🥂
Thank you so much 😀
Love the bear, bare, beer joke :-) I really want to do this one day. I've been to Helsinki and loved it, but need to see more of Scandinavia.
Hahaha it always frustrates Ludvig coz he never knows which one I’m talking about! You should definitely pop it on your list!😁😁
