"Yo Mister" is a song by American singer Patti LaBelle. It was written and produced by Prince for her 1989 album, Be Yourself. The singer features on various instruments and background vocals on the song which was released as a single in July 1989. It became a top ten hit on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs when it peaked at number six, becoming one of LaBelle's biggest R&B hits.[2] "Yo Mister"'s single mix and corresponding video version was mixed by Chris Lord-Alge.

Prince only wrote and produced 2 songs on Patti's be yourself album/CD, Yo mister and love 89.
And your right, he did love Patti's gift.
It was because he and sheena easton wrote love 89, but Sheena also recorded STILL IN LOVE before Patti. So thats why I used the word Several. I believed Prince was involved in that also since he and sheena brough her LOVE 89. Thats all. No need to get your panties in a bunch.

Yeah...this is not quite a firebop, but you have to admit Patti is doing her best to SELL THIS SONG on the video and I love her for that.

I've never heard this version. It's cool but I agree that the album version sounds better. Kind of reminds of the difference between the album version of Express Yourself and the remix.
