Back on March 10, 1984 I saw KISS at Radio City Music Hall and took many pictures. I sent three to Vinnie via his fanclub and he sent me back a long, handwritten letter and an autographed Creatures pic. He's one of the coolest, nicest guys in R&R!
VV played on 2 of my favorite Kiss albums. He was such a great player and writer with the band.
the guy has had a lot of tragedy in his life. In the mid 90s his wife was found murdered, bankruptcy followed, lawsuits over royalties, gag orders etc.

Say what you will about Vinnie, he seems genuinely happy and open here and has clearly done some healing. Still one of my favorite guitarists of all time and lucky enough to share a birthday with him. Such a shame he didn't last longer in Kiss, they really could've gone a great, new, technical progression instead of the BS Kiss of the 80's we got, not bashing Bruce Kulick but Bruce was more like Tommy is now. A "yessir" kind of guy that would fall in step with Paul's direction. Looking forward to new material from Vinnie. Hope he releases something soon

When he got emotional talking about his ex-wife after she was murdered, I'm sure that was the last thing he'd ever expect to happen. He may not have loved her anymore, but it was still heartbreaking for him, since she was a part of his life.

Kiss is a corporate money making machine for Paul and Gene only. The rest of studio musicians are paid crap. Take the current Kiss guitarist, Tommy Thayer, he is been with Kiss for more than 20-years writing and making music for all albums and his net worth is only 20 million. Unlike Paul he is worth 200 million and Gene 400 million.
Only 20 million? That’s a lot of money for a player that has nothing to do with the founding or creation of said band. Also, people don’t buy music anymore so publishing doesn’t make anything these days

Remember the shock and sadness people felt when Bowie, Prince, Carrie Fisher, and many others passed away. This is a happy time for KISS fans. Try not to ruin it. I think this book that he mentions will be very interesting. I hope he has good people around him and advising him well. He was an exciting and dynamic guitar player with KISS and solo. I look forward to hearing new music from him.

I saw Vinnie Vincent Invasion open for Alice Cooper in Kalamazoo. After there show he came out on the side of the stage & signed stuff for fans. Was a great show also. Rock & Roll
So why gripe, complain, piss and moan about where has Vinnie been? The guy comes back into the public eye to tell his story and try to explain what, where, when, how and why....and all I'm reading is people bashing him about how he looks....WHO CARES!!! My gosh go back and look at some images of him from the mid to late 80's. His look now is very tame compared to the teased hair, blush and glam makeup from then. I mean we are talking about an era when bands like Poison, Pretty Boy Floyd, Enuff-Z-Nuff ALL LOOKED LIKE GIRLS!!! People really need to lighten up and let this guy put himself back out there and try to make amends with his fans and those that admired him. You can obviously tell this whole thing has been very emotional for him. I'm sure he's been through A LOT MORE than any of us will ever know. I'm just glad to see him back out and hopefully get an opportunity to maybe even get that box set out and make things right for those that lost money. Again.....lighten up, have some sense of compassion and let him tell his story.....it has been 20+ years.

Vinnie was a HUGE part of KISSTORY. He came in when they needed help bad. Him and Eric Carr made it possible for KISS to be relevant again. Gene and Paul never gave him the respect he deserved.

After all these years, Vinnie isnt what I was expected, and I don't mean how he looks. After Gene and Paul's trashing over the years, its obvious that Vinnie isnt the person they made him out to be. They neglected to mention they were paying him barely anything, funny that. He comes across as a nice person, not the jerk they portrayed him as.
It's not just Gene and Paul, if you look at interviews with Mark Slaughter & Dana Strum (Vinnie Vincent Invasion/Slaughter) he was a jerk at that time, but people change, looks like Vinnie has changed for the better.

They went through the equivalent of a messy divorce, so it's perhaps unsurprising that they dwelt on the negatives. But, as far as I know they've always been respectful of his songwriting and musicianship (apart from maybe the solos)
I think Gene's most recent comment about not working with Vinnie again was more to scotch any rumours of a reunion than anything else.
As with Ace, I don't think we'll see another reunion, but maybe there'll be some interesting collaborations.
They hurt Vinnie so deeply, but his admiration and dedication is priceless! He is truly a KISS fan at heart. I have a renewed respect for Vinnie. He just seems so humble. Best of luck Vinnie, God still has big plans for you man! Hang in there! Love ya!

What Vinnie Vincent did to complicate, frustrate and aggravate Gene Simmons and Sir Paul Stanley was sick, evil and destructive. He was given the world's most incredible chance and opportunity to become rich, famous and one of the greatest guitarists for a band and he violently threw it back into Gene's and Paul's faces. 😡
Moreover, he screwed fans over by accepting their money and never sending them his last album. This demonic manipulator should be avoided at all costs. I noticed he dodged the mention of the box set at first to soften everyone up with some nonsense, and asking "So, is this enough truth for you?" It's just so damn fake.
This BS about writing his VVI demos - some of those were songs he worked on with Hirsh Gardner and skipped out with all the tapes. Hirsh had to sue VV, and he won. Vinnie, of course, filed for bankruptcy right after the judgement came down so he wouldn't have to pay up. Vinnie doesn't deserve half of the praise people have been heaping on him.

Buttons on men's clothing tend to be on the right. And why do I know this? LoL. I've been a die hard Kiss fan since 1976. The original 4 had a tremendous influence on my youth. I remember seeing the album Lick it Up for the first time in record stores upon its release and though I sort of lost touch with the band as far as following their moves behind the scenes. I picked up Lick it Up off the shelf, and thought "holy shit they took the makeup off!!" My second thought was, " that's NOT Ace!" I followed them throughout the mid eighties but hated the whole glam band era. So throughout the late eighties and early nineties I hardly listened to them. I didn't really care for Vinnies stage persona, and though the albums he was involved with Kiss with were some awesome records, for me it was an end to Kiss until the reunion. I enjoyed this video. Thanks for posting. Vinnie seems like a genuine guy. No matter what his story, his demons. His heart is in the right place. I've always said there's 2 sides to every story. One thing, every member of kiss who has been replaced over the years, have in common is that they were used to contribute to the Paul and Gene machine. No doubt that they both have maintained control of the band since they fired Aucoin and choose to give every drummer and lead guitarist since Peter and Ace only small pieces of their pie. I have no doubt that Tommy and Eric to date get along so well with Paul and Gene simply because at their age they both would be no more than session drummer and guitarist. For two guys in their 50's they are surely making a very nice comfortable living. Paul and Gene are giving them good scraps. But I'm certain it's nothing compared to the millions Paul and Gene are raking in.

I'm glad he's alive. No doubt. I grew up in the 80's and have always felt the last solid, consistent albums KISS made were COTN and LIU. Have also loved both VV albums. But...the guy has a problem. Of course, you have to take everything Gene and Paul say with a mound of salt, but they were right. Great writer, great player, but can't deal with others. Read what Carmine Appice said as well. VV screwed over quite a few people. Yes, he has issues...but don't we all?? Its not an excuse. Sad to think of what music he could have made over the past 30 years. Talent wasted...
Great to see Vinnie again! You can't argue with the strength of Creatures of the Night and Lick it Up! Two of the best Kiss albums for sure. Plus he wrote some of the album Revenge. Vinnie also at least had his own make-up and character verses impersonating Ace like Kiss does now. Everybody that's posting jokes on here about Vinnie can only dream of accomplishing a tenth of what he has done in his life. Let's bring Vinnie up, not break the guy down!

Because it's the first time they'd seen him in over 20 years. Naturally, they're going to be scrutinizing his appearance for clues about his health and his mental state and talking about his appearance among themselves. He appears to have put on weight and looks as though he might have started transitioning. If one of his legs was missing due to diabetes, you can be sure that people would be talking about it. The fact that they're talking about his weight or whether he's transitioning is almost beside the point. They would be talking about his appearance whatever his condition. It happens to be the case that he gained weight and appears to be transitioning so their comments are going to reflect those facts. If he became a meth addict in the past 20 years and showed up weighing 100 pounds, with a shaved head and a swastika tattooed on his arm, people would be talking about it. I'm less bothered about people talking about his appearance than I am about people making excuses for him concerning the box set and not taking responsibility for anything he's done. He hasn't owned up to ripping off his fans, fucking over people who worked with him and destroying his career. He blames everyone else for his problems and, unfortunately, a lot of his stupid and childish fans repeat his self-serving narratives as if they're gospel.

I don't think it's a black and white situation like that. People have claimed Vinnie was/is hard to work with and didn't like being told what to do. Kiss wasn't going to work with lengthy, shred-style guitar solos all over the albums and the live show. If you can stand to watch his instructional guitar video on RUclips, it proves that he needed guidance if he was going to be the guitarist in someone else's band. Listen to the Treasure album that he's on. It would have sucked if it was coated in wanky, show-off guitar solos. If Vinnie could have allowed himself to be reigned in, he actually could have had leverage, because he did bring tremendous songwriting talent to the band. He could have eventually made the argument for getting a bigger slice of the pie.
@@jfrey1 You miss the point. Vinnie followed the orders of Kiss or he'd never been in the band in the first place. I think his playing is extraordinary and he clearly is a musician that far exceeded the talents of Kiss members. They are all successful musicians so this is not a criticism of them but rather observing Vinnie is a great talent.
Nick Marks *Paul Stanley said in his book that after they filmed the Lick it Up video with Vinnie Vincent everybody thought there was a girl in the band. They were half right.*

He really helped Kiss with his songwriting on Lick it Up and Creatures....easily one of the most underrated guitar players. Love his praise for Eric Carr ....another legend and amazing drummer.

He sure doesn't come across like Paul and Gene depicted him. He seems like a very humble man. Hope to hear more from him soon.
Gene & Paul speak ill of anyone who chooses not to toe the line of their chosen narrative. They believe their own bullshit as they've amassed so much business influence over the years that they are accustomed to getting their way. Rich, boring, and soulless variety act that plays cruise ships. Gene probably DID reach out to VV as a result of his vault. Only to plug it, not so much for his big heart and compassion for Vincent. Coincidentally it has been 20 years since the 96 reunion. if the suits went on until 2004... its been 14 years since then. They'll never talk of specifics, but its all in the past, Vinnie deserves to be heard, he's paid his debts and I'm glad to see he's back.
Finally..., the REAL truth comes to light.... I have MORE respect for Vinnie now, than I did back then.

Look at all the people moaning over some of the comments......for crying out loud, Gene and Paul treated him far worse than anything anyone has said here.....so I'm trusting all those who are complaining about some of the comments that they no longer go to Kiss concerts or buy any more Kiss related items in protest,,,,.....No? mmm...didn't think so.....hypocrites.
