But especially with Vinnie, considering the life trauma he's been in, which in many people tends to subconsciously make them forget about it the incidents, with his wife/wives and the lawsuit, and considering he OD'd. He can remember not only the year but the day (assuming they're accurate). Steve Lukather always does that in his interviews - rattling off one name after the next that he's worked with (and even the name of that person's friend/relative), even though he's worked with thousands of people, whereas I can't remember anyone's name. And he's a really good story teller! The way Gene and Paul treated Vinnie in the joining process reminds me of the way Neal Schon and Johnathan Cain treats their potential members. It seems Vinnie was mainly interested in the music, as it should be, but Gene and Paul were more worried about the look, act, and reputation (they have talked about how their shows are more than just music, blah blah blah), and of course in the end, the money for themselves. I think so too, Animalize though not a bad album turned out rather stale compared to LIU. Sure, if a guitar solo goes on forever it's not good there should be some rules when a band performs. But Paul always wanted to the center of attention anyway, he didn't like a free spirit in the band that's why (other) members are hired guns not equals. I would be interested to know the thoughts and comments from paul and gene after they watch this interview with vinnie. Vinnie spoke highly of them and was a class act with the questions despite paul and gene slagging on him all these years. Wonder if they would feel like crap
I still don't think Vinnie has the right personality for KISS, but I respect his gift and musicianship a lot, his other work implies that he could function well in other genres with ease, and I think he should pursue that. I wish him all the best, and it's so great to see and hear from him again. Doing the Invasion thing again would be very hard work for an aging man.
I agree, not sure his mindset is on playing all that 80's super shredding heavy metal stuff back again. If he wants to play music again, he should do something that he thinks feels right, not something that a crowd of fans want...
Thar ship sailed Vinnie needs to stop living in tbe past & stop trying to cash in on the past & with this one last chance put on his big boy pants and DO something instead of broken promises & more cancellations which were due to poor ticket sales as he tries to cobtinie to milk his remaining fans $500 to hang out with him at SIR Studios then charge them outrafeoys prixes for autographs, etc. Most of his fans can only do that once considering coats added like travel, airfare for some, rentel cars, food & hotels, etc. How about when he cancelled that show at Graxeland ..fans fkew from Finland & other European countries rgen he cancelled just before the day of the event ..what a self centered unethical, unprofessuonal douche bag. It must suck to be Vinnie Dont be a Vinnie kids
The music business is predatory and exploitive. Jake E Lee and Vinnie Vincent are not the only guitar players to be taken advantage of, artist in general are notoriously screwed. If Vinnie got appropriate publishing, royalties, song writing credit, and performance pay, then that's fair and appropriate. If his $ 550 per week (after taxes) was performance pay on top of publishing and royalties, then he would have been lucky to have such an opportunity. Wether or not Gene and Paul felt his live performance contributions were worth more then $550 per week, would be subject to negotiation and could be fair? If the $ 550 per month (after taxes) was all he earned, then that is definitely in line with the Ozzy-Sharon Osbourne business model which is unfair and predatory. If this is the case, I don't blame Vinnie for not "signing the contract" which is why Gene/Paul were so pissed at him. It may have been that Vinnie wanted merchandising money as well, which would be in dispute and contractual.
$550 a week!!! It's incredible. I couldn't ever dream of that he got payed so bad. So if I thought Paul and Gene was greedy before then this information doesn't help. It's amazing how little he holds against them. What they did to him makes me wanna puke, while he has nothing to say but good things about them. Well, good for him, but that's a reaction that doesn't sound normal to me. Consider all the great songs he helped them to write. He say's "Financially there was no future in it for me...". He was in one of the biggest bands, and there was no future financially???
@@sandycis2 Vinnie didn't tell us that 14 times courts judged he was paid enough. And he didn' t tell us where his money is from for his 'maniac' lawsuits.??? I don't believe in Santa Claus.
@@sandycis2 In addition to this he must get money for each song he co-wrote. And he returned to KISS for the album REVENGE. Why? In the EXPO interviews 2018 he was full of admiration (I love them, I had the best time of my live...).Very contradictory, this man!
Great to see Vinnie back! Stanley Eisen is a miserable bastard. He even shit talked Mark St. John in his book. Poor Mark got a disease out of nowhere that prevented him from physically being able to play.
Vinnie is living in the past because there's nothing in between 1990- -2018 worth remembering except more bad decisions & bad choices, lots of guilt & shame, unresolved personal issues, denial, anger, resentments, jeallousy & envy on his parr. It must suck to be Vinnie but we reap what we sew.
Im sorry about that $550 a week i miss understood vinnie as i said before big things are coming your way don't rush it and take your time god bless you. vinnie thanks.
Everyone is saying "yeah but $550 per week is like $2000 per week in todays money. Is that what Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer are making....$2000 per ARENA SHOW? If so, they are getting fucked.
He was the best guitarist 2nd to Ace Frehley to play for kiss. All the Guitarist that came after Vinnie in kiss didn't have what he had. Too bad they didn't share royalties with him. 550$ a week????
When Vinnie joined KISS they were at their low point of their career. Even Eric didn't made more money at the time. KISS didn't made a lot of money in general in the 80s. They were anything but super rich rockstars.
It sounds pretty crazy, but if you consider the spending power of $550/week in 1983, adjusting for inflation, that's like $1300/week today. So that's like $65,000-70,000 a year by today's standards. That's a very comfortable middle class salary - although I do agree it still seems skimpy. We just can't compare that to $550/week in 2017 because that would be pretty pathetic.
If you haven't already, read the book 'Kiss and Sell' which explains via their former CPA how the band pissed away their money and struggled during the 80's to recapture their former glory. Having said that; Ace and Peter have been vociferous in their claims that during the reunion tour they received approximately $10,000 every night (flat fee, no profit participation) while the tour itself grossed hundreds of millions of dollars.
@@heirtoruin some ppl even NOW only make 550 and thats every TWO weeks. Thats what my mom brings home after 6 yrs at the same place. HORRIBLE WAGE. Her ss would only be 600 a MONTH. So awful.
Kiss gave him the KEYS TO THE KINGDOM.....the 550 was the cherry on top....no idea why he would throw that opportunity away...An established band gives him a shot at the big time, he throws it away after a year....Can you imagine how many thousands of qualified musicians would have jumped at the chance to be where he was?!?!?
$550/week in 1982 adter taxes is equivilent to $1,792.00 a week or over $93,000.00 after raxes in 2024. Included in the contract was all 1st class flights, fine hotels, lonos & tip notch food/restaraunts plus all his expenses while on tour or doing anything business or band related. The avweage price of a new home in 1982 was $110,000.00 Keep in mind Vinnie was 31yrs old in 1982 and based on what he has said in other interviews he only made $50,000. in the 10yrs prior to being chosen (by default) as the new lead fyitariat for "KISS" Based on what Vinnie said in this interview alone its apparent that he hasn't accomplished much & obviously never had a real job his entire life and unlike most people his age he had nothing to show for his 31yrs or 13yrs as an adult. All he had was a rental apartment, a beater car & his wife AnnMarie who worked two jobs supportng him. Im guessing his wife sumped him after he was fired from his record label? Vinnie was so insincere and unlike interviews wuth Vinnie in the late 80's during this whole interview Vinnie struggled with being honest and he could barely form a proper sentence in which he showed his deception throughout the entire interview also choosing to go with a selective menory on certaun things and for convinience, it was nothing but a distorted truth coning out of his mouth or convaluted jibberish which I believe all comes from the gyilt & shame he has built up inside which are unresolved issues on his part. It takes a real man to admit his qrong doings and 100% own them, Vinnie semi apologized followed by excuses or blaning others or unforeseen cirxumstances which is just more 1/2 truth deception. He leaces out many details in order to get people to feel sorry for him & so they will cosign his one sided poor me/victim bullshit. Dobt ever cosign somebody's b.s. its not helping them its only enabling them. And dont feel sorry for him either, the majority of people if they were ever granted or so lucky to have a once in a kife time xhance at veing in a famous rock band or even when he left ..would hace made much better choices & decisions. It appears Vinnie wanted more then he was worth & I hobestky believe while he was using up studio time in "KISS" money he already knew he was leaving & just took advantage of recording those demos AND if he had signed his cobtraxt 18 months prior then joining the band, taking those demos would've been a breach of contract & he would've had more kegal troubles which he had with Robert F. & others in a class action lawsuit where after Vinnies last gig with VV1 he had his $50,000 held as legal documents prevented him getting paid after his warm up band fees & that was the same night his band broke up where Vinnie was later dropped by his record label for overspending after he was given a $400,000.00 advance. There are so many shady stories out there which dont make Vinnie look to good & receal what type of person he really is UNLIKE this patheric version of Vinnie who finally resurfaced in 2018 hoping to cash in on it somehow. Vinnie was trying to ride the "KISS" coat tail for the last time vefore they retired BUT its been nothing but broken promises, cancellations, not delivering orders or refunding peoples money, sxrewing over promoters by renegging on agreements after the fact with last minute riduculous demands. Vinnie is very selfish & unethical on every level BUT he qill continue to string his last 100 or less fans along for the ride as long as he knows he can milk them out of money. He is no guitar virtuoso, the only thing Vinnie mastered was playing the victim & burning bridges ..which btw is a kick ass song by "SLAUGHTER" who after leaving Vinnie in the soup bowl, they went on to sell over 2-Million copies of their debut album PLATINUM X2 which only confirms what many have said repeatedly and that is Vinnie does not play well with others 'LoL' meaning he is NOT a team player. Vinnie thinks he is better then everyone, he thinks he knows best & his over inflated ego gave him a much needed kick in the ass reality check, a shot of humility he never fully recovered from and ibstead of learning from his past mistakes and becomng a better person Vinnie chose to wallow in his own pitty party so he has nobody to blame but himself. He chose to make wrong choices & decisions & when the party was over he became a recluse & lived off his wives who either divorced him or died after having a drug & alcohol induced codependent relatiobship where after she (Dianne) died Cinnie doesn't keep up payments or doesn't pay property taxes so the house goes into foreclusire ..what a loser. As a VV fan, if you value your money & have learned from VV -History and if Vinnie ever releases an album do NOT do any pre-order paymebts. You judge a person by the fruits of their labor & Vinnie has not done anything productive for over 35years except for ripping off his fans & trying to sell over priced items which are priced beyond ridiculous. "No more solos from you pal" "Adjust your wiig hunny" "What, you forgot your wallet again" No more soup for you Vinnie "LofL"
It is a shame that Vinnie doesn't seem like he can play like he could back in the 80s. It's a shit thing cause he was a talented lead player. I would love to br proved wrong but he evident from the live cruise video that he had massive amounts of stage fright and hasn't played in 25+ years But i will habe to agree with Ace, that the best fake ace was Bruce, because he he mixed himself in with what ace wrote..
Hey every one just wanna say I've lost all my respect gene and paul of kiss for not paying vinnie in full so he can take care of his family and all while paul and gene line their pockets full of money for themselves so sad so .
I've lost lot of respect for kiss $550 a week wow they have money Metallica paid there new bass player in 2003 1 million just as a signing bonus he still in band
Crosswalk Larry - that's right an advance, funny people see a million dollars and they think woo, free money! If Robert had quit on those future earnings he would have to pay some of it back. I think they just gave him the liquidity to plan his life with because Metallica can easily do that and it makes them look like a badass, rather than like an employer.
LM Meister - it's my opinion KISS hired sidemen on the cheap the same reason Bowie paid SRV 100 bucks a night, he's David Bowie and lending you his name gives you a career. I also think Vinnie may have lacked negotiating skills because he was begging them for a gig, being extremely needy and available so they had no reason to offer him anything. Gene and Paul had a lot of power to choose and deliberate. With Ace and Peter coming back for a tour years later the other guys had to bend financially to the demand those two names offered, because people were paying to see classic lineup. Put it this way, KISS needed Vincent, because they hired him. He may have had negotiating leverage, in hindsight.
😂 you guys think $550 is acceptable for someone in a band that dominated the 1970s and made millions and millions.. they wernt going that bad COTN and lick it up both went gold and platinum and they were still selling shows out in that era.. don’t compare years either 1981 2003 If like that peter and ace were making 40k a show in 1996
To the FOOLS who think Gene and Paul "ripped Vinnie off"---You are out of your mind...they gave him the BIGGEST OPPORTUNITY to make it in music, exposure, and a chance to really DO SOMETHING...you counldn`t PAY for such an opportunity. And they gave him 550 a week (bigger money back then) as well. .He should have been GRATEFUL for all the valuable opportunities that Kiss gave him (that he has been riding on for 30 years...!!!) and made something of it instead of QUITTING over money....foolish move. He was only in the band for ONE TOUR.. Had he just shut up and been a good band member for a couple more years, he would have proved his value to Kiss, got more money and more respect in the music biz. THE GUY WAS NOT RIPPED OFF!!! Had it not been for Gene and Paul, you would not know of this guy. All of you should check his treatment of fans in the time since this interview....
@@AMadScientist did you even read the comment? Never before or since did he have such high profile exposure or a chance to be in the big league. Kiss literally gave him the keys to the kingdom...and gave him money too. All he had to do was stick around....thats all.
@@AMadScientist spoken like someone who has never worked his way up to success. They did pay him. They also gave him the opportunity to be a star. What did he do with that?
@@toddmastrianna1780 LMAO. I've been working for 40 years and HAVE worked my way up so shut your pie hole. They paid him $550 per week on tour while on Lick it Up and Creatures of the Night. PEANUTS. I always wondered why Vinnie didn't want to sign a contract. Now I know. No one in their right mind would sign a contract that locked you in to doing six shows a week for TWO YEARS for $550 per week or about $91 per show.
I've always been A BIG kiss fan, but learning more about them and their business practices, and listening to Paul bitch relentlessly about everybody he's ever worked with has all but ruined the fantasy!
For real. Definitely a couple greedy assholes. They've NEVER treated any other members as equals always as employees. Even during the reunion tour, Ace and Peter were the reason the tour was successful and the reason KISS kept existing at all at that point. I guess it's buyer beware when it comes to those two pricks.
Somebody could pick up and revive the devil is in the music, again and use this story for its beginning, by stating you start trouble with Gene Simmons, and this is the results. Of course that's fictional. But it's very obvious something is missing here, and what isn't, the crowd gushing over and over rated, about this guy. I'll say in this person's defense that Paul Stanley has trashed every guitarist they've had, which begs the question, of why did you be in the band with them, I'm not a Kiss fanatic, but the drama of this band is almost as popular as the music.
Eric Carr didn't need to be tall. As drummer he was sitting. But Vinnie playing guitar with Paul looked like his little child. Their decision was plausible.
fan, but the saga, of kiss was interesting, this has to sum it up,and Eddie Trunk can't say it because he relies on musicians to talk to him, but watch this closely and if this is a comeback, too what...

I would be interested to know the thoughts and comments from paul and gene after they watch this interview with vinnie. Vinnie spoke highly of them and was a class act with the questions despite paul and gene slagging on him all these years. Wonder if they would feel like crap
I don’t know that much about kiss. I was just born when they came out but my older friends listen to them great songs.
Thar ship sailed
Vinnie needs to stop living in tbe past & stop trying to cash in on the past & with this one last chance put on his big boy pants and DO something instead of broken promises & more cancellations which were due to poor ticket sales as he tries to cobtinie to milk his remaining fans $500 to hang out with him at SIR Studios then charge them outrafeoys prixes for autographs, etc.
It must suck to be Vinnie
Dont be a Vinnie kids
Can he still write a great song and shred still? That’s all that I want to know! It’s great to see he’s back out from the shadows!
As a Brit,I still have yet to work out if Kiss are a spoof or not??
Thief
The Ankh Warrior is my favorite Kiss "persona". Vinnie is the best guitarist Kiss ever had.
Welcome back Vinnie. Now put the fucking fork down !!
Yep...Lick it Up tour did about 6 shows per week. Thats only NINETY ONE DOLLARS per SHOW!! FUCK THAT. Gene and Paul should be spat upon.
That's unbelievable! How could they only pay $550 a week??
@@sandycis2
Vinnie didn't tell us that 14
times courts judged he was paid enough.
And he didn' t tell us where his money is from for his
'maniac' lawsuits.???
I don't believe in Santa Claus.
Not right!! Putting on all the makeup, costumes and helped write songs? 🙄 Then only to get $500 a week 🙄
@@sandycis2
In addition to this he must get money for each song he co-wrote. And he returned to KISS for the album REVENGE.
Why? In the EXPO interviews 2018 he was full of admiration
(I love them, I had the best time of my live...).Very contradictory, this man!
I wish I could invite Vinnie over for thanksgiving
So glad to see and hear from vinnie!! Does anyone here have the treasure album that he was on?
Great to see Vinnie back! Stanley Eisen is a miserable bastard. He even shit talked Mark St. John in his book. Poor Mark got a disease out of nowhere that prevented him from physically being able to play.
Great to see vinnie ..
I'm confused. He told the same stories two days in a row?
The first day was a VIP experience to 100 people, the second day was the actual expo with over 1,000 people.
He's getting tangled up in his own bulshit
Great to see Vinnie again. However, all this was 35 years ago and everyone has moved on and grown since then.
I love Vinnie. Thats a shame on his pay. Thats hard to live off even back then. Some of us live on that or less now in 2018. Its not easy.
That's our Vivian lol ...😆😆😆 👍👍👍
I just want to say, 'YYRREEEEAAA!' clap clap clap clap clap clap clap..... like 500 times.
Im sorry about that $550 a week i miss understood vinnie as i said before big things are coming your way don't rush it and take your time god bless you. vinnie thanks.
Take a shot everytime he says "and euhm"
Signs of deception
ROCK SOLDIERS !
Everyone is saying "yeah but $550 per week is like $2000 per week in todays money. Is that what Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer are making....$2000 per ARENA SHOW? If so, they are getting fucked.
I would not tell you my income, either!
And in addition which privileges I get.
Do you really expect them to make this publicly?
He was the best guitarist 2nd to Ace Frehley to play for kiss.
All the Guitarist that came after Vinnie in kiss didn't have what he had.
Too bad they didn't share royalties with him.
550$ a week????
$550/week... to play for KISS.. the "hottest band in the world"
When Vinnie joined KISS they were at their low point of their career.
So awful.
Kiss gave him the KEYS TO THE KINGDOM.....the 550 was the cherry on top....no idea why he would throw that opportunity away...An established band gives him a shot at the big time, he throws it away after a year....Can you imagine how many thousands of qualified musicians would have jumped at the chance to be where he was?!?!?
hog dang, he is a good looking dude darn tootin
Is it possible that Gene and Paul thought Vinnie was too fem for KISS? "You are perfect for Kiss but we are looking for a man"
You think Paul is masculine???
No. He's delusional though
$550/week in 1982 adter taxes is equivilent to $1,792.00 a week or over $93,000.00 after raxes in 2024.
Included in the contract was all
1st class flights, fine hotels, lonos & tip notch food/restaraunts plus all his expenses while on tour or doing anything business or band related.
The avweage price of a new home in 1982 was $110,000.00
Keep in mind Vinnie was 31yrs old in 1982 and based on what he has said in other interviews he only made $50,000. in the 10yrs prior to being chosen (by default) as the new lead fyitariat for "KISS"
Based on what Vinnie said in this interview alone its apparent that he hasn't accomplished much & obviously never had a real job his entire life and unlike most people his age he had nothing to show for his 31yrs or 13yrs as an adult.
"No more solos from you pal"
"Adjust your wiig hunny"
"What, you forgot your wallet again"
No more soup for you Vinnie "LofL"
49:12 that's cool...
This guy is pretty out there.
Luck it up, Vinnie! :)
I think the contract Kiss offered Vinnie sucked so bad bc Kiss were nearly broke in 1982 (?)
In similar words Paul wrote the same.
It is a shame that Vinnie doesn't seem like he can play like he could back in the 80s. It's a shit thing cause he was a talented lead player. I would love to br proved wrong but he evident from the live cruise video that he had massive amounts of stage fright and hasn't played in 25+ years
But i will habe to agree with Ace, that the best fake ace was Bruce, because he he mixed himself in with what ace wrote..
Who exactly is Derek Christopher?
The promoter of this event.
I was there in the front! Such a shame! Great talent great singer song writer but has no morals.
Hey every one just wanna say I've lost all my respect gene and paul of kiss for not paying vinnie in full so he can take care of his family and all while paul and gene line their pockets full of money for themselves so sad so .
I've lost lot of respect for kiss
$550 a week wow they have money
Metallica paid there new bass player in 2003 1 million just as a signing bonus he still in band
And with taxes it is less than half that. And it was an advance, not a bonus.
550$ was much more in 1983 than 550$ was in 2003
😂 you guys think $550 is acceptable for someone in a band that dominated the 1970s and made millions and millions.. they wernt going that bad COTN and lick it up both went gold and platinum and they were still selling shows out in that era.. don’t compare years either 1981 2003 If like that peter and ace were making 40k a show in 1996
Things would have been different if Vinnie worked well with others.
And slowed down.

He is comfortable in Hilary's pant suit. More power to him.
and looks damn sexy
My man!!!!
Hillary Clinton meets Nikki Sixx
$550 is NOT a lot of money...even back in '83.
@@AMadScientist did you even read the comment? Never before or since did he have such high profile exposure or a chance to be in the big league. Kiss literally gave him the keys to the kingdom...and gave him money too. All he had to do was stick around....thats all.
@@toddmastrianna1780 Of he was good enough to be in the band, they should have paid him.
Did Vinnie raid Hillary Clinton's closet for that Pant's Suit?
And I can hear ralphie mays chair screaming....lmao
Yet another person ripped off by Chiam Klein and Stanley Eisen!
I've always been A BIG kiss fan, but learning more about them and their business practices, and listening to Paul bitch relentlessly about everybody he's ever worked with has all but ruined the fantasy!
Sure, and that's the story of so many bands where the leader takes the prize. Their birth names have squat to do with it.
Take note Jon Bon Jovi. Phil X deserves a fat raise.. lol
Gene and Paul are assholes!!! I'm very disappointed with them!!
Now I know why he wouldn't sign a damn contract. Would you want to be under a binding contract for a number of years at $550 per week? FUCK NO!
They offered him this contract, because they didn' t want him to sign.
Just my opinion.
Love the purple suit, but that's about it 😢
Okay, pretty sad story. They seek 6 foot tall guys ? How tall was Eric Carr ? 550 $ per week ? Sobbing story eh ?
Eric Carr didn't need to be tall. As drummer he was sitting. But Vinnie playing guitar with Paul looked like his little child.
Their decision was plausible.
fan, but the saga, of kiss was interesting, this has to sum it up,and Eddie Trunk can't say it because he relies on musicians to talk to him, but watch this closely and if this is a comeback, too what...
