Check out BUILD STUFF NOW...my brand new course! It's the web's fastest, easiest guide to carpentry and woodworking: www.thehonestcarpenter.com/build-stuff-now-the-honest-carpenter
Honestly, I think even the pros are beginners. I think that all of us are constantly learning and sharing ideas. I worked with a retired cabinet maker and he learned from me and I learned from him. That's how I see it.
I agree! It's easy to sort of get tunnel vision in a trade career...but the truth is you've never seen it all. Plus, you forget a lot of this stuff at a crazy rate if you don't do it frequently, so relearning is a big part of the equation too!
The first time I used a table saw was in 1976 and I watch all the hints and tips videos. I even watch beginner videos because no matter how long you've been doing something you can always learn.
im a beginner woodworker hobbyist, but an expert metal fabricator by trade for the last 16 years. A lot of parallels, a lot different too. Thanks for the videos
You're welcome! I think this would definitely give you a solid foundation. :) There are some more concepts you'd ultimately have to incorporate to achieve certain designs, but what you'd learn about structure and fastening concepts here would move you very far along!
Same here, David! I’ve never had the desire to be a very serious woodworker. I’ve always liked the speed and functionality of general carpentry instead. 🙂
That's a big part of this course, giovanni! These projects can be built with a totally mobile setup--in a driveway, for instance. And the tools involved are the most affordable amongst power tools and hand tools!
I'm 79 and retired widow but I enjoy watching every video for the education. My husband was a woodworker and I need to hire individuals and not be taken advantaged of myself.
I know, I've made 270 videos for people completely for free...and I'll make many more. 🙃 But some things are best learned in a linear, curriculum-type fashion, which is where courses come in.

This is a good idea. I had to learn the hard and expensive way so this would have been a great help when I was a beginner. Thanks for sharing this.
Thanks John! I’m thinking it can really help some people speed up the learning process. :)

Fully agree! I like the concentration aspect of carpentry. It drowns out other concerns. 👍

I hate the perfectionism of carpenters. I am now working to simplify my constructions.
Same here, David! I’ve never had the desire to be a very serious woodworker. I’ve always liked the speed and functionality of general carpentry instead. 🙂
The main issue are/is: working space and tools
We need to understand that how does one start??
