Hans Zimmer's score on the Man of Steel was excellent but John William's work is timeless. I have to admit, his work was something that will always resonate.
I worked on the crew of "Man of Steel" while it was filing here in Chicago and had the chance to talk to Zack Snyder as well as several of the producers. We got into a discussion about the music and I asked them if they would consider using John Williams original theme even if Hans Zimmer was the composer. Snyder seemed interested in my points about how the theme was so iconic and how much it mane to the fans but both he and the other producers were cool to my suggestions. Looking back I realize I was lucky I wasn't fired for butting into the creative process. Very well done sir. This is how it should have been. True musical talent instead of mediocre nothing background mood sound.
Interesting story. Williams' score is great but don't you dare call Zimmer's score "background noise". His work was awesome (in the old sense of the term; i.e inspiring awe).
I can see your point but Superman represents all that is good and pure. It needs a heroic theme to carry it. Look back at all the previous versions all the way back to the forties and you’ll see they all have variations of a powerful, upbeat, heroic theme. Zimmerman in my opinion has little talent. We’re it not for James Newton Howard his music would all be the very same. I can’t even remember what it was like not a singular theme in any of his super hero scores. He hasn’t written a memorable one since “Stallion of the Cimeron” and none by himself since “Backdraft”.
Patrick, this re-imagining of what Man Of Steel 's opening was so damn good!!! Double thumbs up!!!👍👍👍👍
It should have been done this tradional way. The movie had no opening credits.

Guess he listened to you because he wanted to reuse the music John created but WB insisted that it had to be a different take.
MOS > BVS
P.S. I'm not hate BVS. but still, it's a nice film. and MOS is awesome back in the day.
Yeah, right bro
This is what MOS was lacking, John Williams score, awesome and big thumbs up!
It was lacking an outdated theme that doesn't fit the current version of this character?
