    YES!!! One of the FEW to ever get the pronunciation of Neewer right!
    Also -- mad respect to you as one of the few NEWCOMING photography RUclipsrs
    (with only 307 subs at the time of this comment) to have gear sent to you for review!
    That is a RECORD as far as I'm concerned. More success to you on this new journey and cheers!

      Haha thanks, I make most my networking via Instagram (where I have 40k subs) but I hear ya. Most brands want big RUclips following. :)

      Naturally so, @@JGazze -- I mean, since when have you heard of inboxing videos on INSTAGRAM?
      Those kinds of videos are very detailed, take much longer than 1 minute and most importantly. . .
      they have to be filmed properly _(i.e. filling the entire screen horizontally) -- just the way people like it._

      @@DLCOrganization doing the 60 second highlight vids is incredibly hard for sure!! it's more a quick highlight than a full unbox/review :\ more of a teaser

      @@JGazze -- EXACTLY!
      I mean, highlight vid appetizers on social media can work for a lot of different subject matters,
      but when it comes to video games and especially film and media production, people want that SUBSTANCE -- a main course, if you will.

    Thanks for the review, it's been hard to find much info on this tripod. Are the leg locks plastic or metal? What is the height with the column down? And how does the stiffness compare to other tripods? Thanks

    • @JGazze
      @JGazze  11 месяцев назад

      Let me chekc and get back you you! on the height/colunn
      The legs feel durable but it isn't as stable as a thicker tubed leg. It's a trade off of transport/weight/compactness for size. I have a Tiffen and even an older Neewer tripod with much heavier / thicker legs... just need to keep the trade off in mind.

    • @JGazze
      @JGazze  11 месяцев назад

      So it measures about 53-54" when the middle column isn't fully raised. I'm 5'7" and I find it a good height.
      As far as the leg locks, they are a hard plastic, seem durable... but I don't think I've seen many clips done with metal... especially for a travel tripod since they want it as light as possible. Seem sturdy.
      Stiffness of the legs seems good. No bend or anything. The 5 segment leg has a little more wobble than some of my non compact tripod but thats somewhat a common issue w/ compact stuff.
      I've been leaning more to lightweight / compact stuff over my other (I have a full size non travel tripod I also use that is taller and way more sturdy but its bulky, heavy, and awkward to take around with me).

  • @peetahuynh
    @peetahuynh 8 месяцев назад +1

    Bought it for 155aud and didn't like it due to lack of adjustment for leg tension locks and ball head was so weak it couldn't lock the quick release button. The mini tripod column was a great idea for travel. Still returned it.

    Have you been able to get your hands on the TP65? Similar, but comes with an extendable handle, which can make movement of the head easier (and a spirit level, from what I've heard).

    Could a different ball head be used with this? It sounded like it was using the standard screw thread for them but wasnt sure.

    • @JGazze
      @JGazze  11 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, it's a 3/4 screw so a standard swap with another ballhead is doable. I actually did that with the Ulanzi F38 one... ballhead that came with was awkward so I put a basic Joby one on lol.

      @@JGazze ya I like the shape and size of it but the ball head looked awkward. It seems like a good budget version if the peak design travel tripod. Thanks for the reply!

      @JGazze  11 месяцев назад

      @@justinspreadborough5968 no problem, ya I like this tripod but a different ballhead may be in order. Luckily I have a bunch of tripods to swap ballheads with... :) other than that, it's well built and no other really issues.

  • @bobbybrown9814
    @bobbybrown9814 11 месяцев назад

    Great review. You should get an affiliate link of some sort from them. at $180 vs $420 for the peak it's definitely a no-brainer. The only downside is that the plate doesn't work well with peak clip by not locking and the peak plate doesn't seem to fit tight on the head. I rather not skimp on a tripod and risk the camera setup. I suppose I could get another head but thats more money and at that point, i minus well go for the peak design one. I suppose I can always use a strap instead of the clip and all would be fine.
    Do you feel safe using the peak design plate on the tripod?

    • @JGazze
      @JGazze  11 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the kind words, I really should setup an affiliate link :)
      Honestly the PeakDesign is too expensive for what it is. These Ulanzi/Neewer ones seem well built. AFTER filming this one I noted there is one that looks like a 100% clone of it from both vendors. My buddies own the Ulanzi one but I noticed Neewer now has it as well.
      So I felt like the peak design plate doesn't sit properly. It feels unsafe. So you either need to swap plates and use a non peak design base (which I tried lastweek, never felt like a camera would slide out of the peak design clip)... or swap ballhead.
      If you have a spare head, ez swap. I did like the quality and extras this tripod comes with otherwise... funny enough I have a SmallRig L bracket on the camera + the PD baseplate so it's a bit of a monstrocity. I shoot a lot of vertical so it works for me lol.

    Have you used this tripod much? Wondering how stable it is when actually using it. Not many reviews out there, but a few on Amazon comment on it not being very stable.

    • @JGazze
      @JGazze  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes I've used it on a bunch of events. Pretty standard travel tripod stability.
      Not for sure if people comparing it to heavy duty tripods but I have a Tiffen one that's way bigger and heavier (and more stable but way bulkier). It's a typical trade off of weight/size to compact.

    Do you feel like you can do a smooth video style pan with the 360° rotation? By unlocking the rotation knob and simple moving the cam with you hand?

    • @JGazze
      @JGazze  11 месяцев назад +1

      It's a smooth rotation, is that an important feature for you? I also own this Ulanzi one, it may be a bit easier if you prefer a handle. It's also super light weight. I actually used this one when travelling through Egypt a couple months ago. Size wize it's very similar, i'd say it's even smaller a former factor.

      @@JGazzeI actually want the Ulanzi Zero F38 Quick release. I do video work but nothing too crazy. I use a befree Manfrotto now with video fluid head but want something lighter and compact. So now I’m peeping this neweer and ulazni. I wish the neewer had a level but not a deal breaker. I would totally get the ulazni but my agency doesn’t allow purchases from Chinese companies and the zero 38 is only available from Chinese retailers. I do mostly video stand still interviews but do like having the occasional pan shot for broll footage. So the pan is important but doesn’t have to be cinema level quality. Just curious if it’s pretty smooth and I can simply nudge the lens with my finger or hold the top of cam body and rotate for the pan shot. Do you think that would work? Thanks and nice review video!
