Great, very helpful video! Just started using thread drops and you answered so many questions! I was also taking the whole skein of floss off to get one thread so that particular hint was a big help! Thank you!
Thanks! Now I know how to use the hundreds of cards and pictures. I have so much DMC that has been on bobbins for years that has fold marks that this would be beneficial for. Gee, even having been a stitched for 30+ years I still get new ideas!
So glad it was helpful Linda. You can always iron or flat iron them straight if you remove them from the bobbins. I do that sometimes as I don't like seeing them all kinked.
The FB group The Scarlett House Stitchers has a file titled Overdyed-DMC Conversion Chart and Fabric Labels. On the very last page, the “fabric labels” are floss drops. I printed them off and pasted them onto cardstock with an aerosol adhesive (Mischievous Stitcher idea) and then punched a hole in them for the floss. They are very pretty. the hole takes away from the design so I tried to punch the hole away from the design on the floss tag.
I’m really late seeing this but I love it all. I tried punching out paint sample cards as well. Not sure how well they will hold up yet. But thx for tutorial
Great video, it has helped me understand thread drops so much!!!! What do your do with your thread drops when you finish a project and put the thread back on the bobbin? Thank you so much!!!!
@@CrossMyStitches Oh, I'm sorry I didn't see that. I might have not asked the question correctly. What do you do with the actual thread drop when you take the thread off, do you put other threads on it and reuse for another project?
Hello and thanks for an enjoyable, helpful video. Question from the clueless couch here...could you recommend types or sizes of punches to achieve the nicely rounded, smooth looking edges you've achieved? I have zero punching experience. Thanks so much!
So glad you enjoyed the video. The size of punch is dependent on how big you want your floss holders to be. You could use an oval, tag, square, or any shape punch you like. To punch the holes I would suggest a 3/4" - 1" for the floss and a 1/4" for the floss ring to go thru. Have fun!
@@sarajohnson5793 yes, just make sure you get a quality punch like fiskars brand. They guarrentee their product and will replace it free if it stops working properly.
I have been catching up with my Flosstube. I have been gone since October. I had over 4,000 videos to watch, so I deleted some to narrow it down to be more manageable for me. So I guess I have missed some of your RV trips. Where are you now?
I am new to making thread drops and after watching both videos and reading comments, unless somehow I missed it, what do you do with the thread after your project is over? Do you then put them on the plastic cards? Also you never mentioned about writing the color number on the drop which I know I have to do. Thanks for making the tutorial.
Phyllis, right now I do not have a definite storage solution for the drops. I am using large rings to store them just like my overdyed floss. I have an idea, but have not tested it. When I do I will share it. thanks for watching!
I learned more tips and techniques from you i.e. folding the floss skein, twisting and best of all removing kinks from floss on bobbins. Thank you!

Neat the way the thread comes off the drop without having to undo and redo ever time you need a thread. Thanks for this tip.
It does save a lot of time.
I have been stitching for 30yrs.& I learned something new...thank you Jacque!
You're welcome Crystal! :-)
Thanks for the great explanations on how to use the thread drops! So much easier to use than bobbins!
You're welcome. I am still testing to see If I want to switch over to them completely.
Nice! thank you for showing us. I’m on it. Love the idea of ironing the floss!
Glad you like the video!

@@CrossMyStitches Thanks so much for the helpful recommendations! Did your main tag/drop shaping punch, punch the perimeter edges smoothly?

Hi Joanne, we are in KY. Mother in Law is not doing well and we had to come and help out. We needed up renting a house and will be staying a while.
I will say a prayer for your mother-in-law and I hope everything will go well.

Thanks for doing this. I am going back to watch both videos again. Where did you get the die to cut the tags?
The tags are not a die. I cut 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" pieces of cards, paper, etc to make them.
What do you do with the thread drop when you use all the floss ?
The DMC ones are saved for the next project. If I already have a drop with that color on it, then I just condense and throw one away.
Hi, where do you storage all your drop thread ?
I use a curtain rod hanging in my craft room with 3 inch rings holding the thread drops.
