    Thank you for doing floss-tube! I always learn so much from you. My favorite cross stitch in 2023 is a stocking I made for my first granddaughter who was born on my 60th birthday.

    The favorite thing I stitched was the Hummingbird Sampler for camp. My dad’s nickname is “hummer” and we symbolize that with hummingbirds. And, Cecilia Turner talks about how she thinks of her mom when she sees hummingbirds…so i personalized it for my mom and dad. It’s the first time that I made a piece in memory of someone. I just love seeing it, remembering my mom and as a reminder to call my dad 😂

    My opnion on Alpine: Simplify! Make it square but keep the deer if you can. If not, customize to frame square. That's my ten cents! Ashley

    My favorite thing I stitched on in 2023 is I started My Sister's Samplers Isabella Keen in memory of my Mom who passed away in April. The date on the sampler momth and day is one day short of her birth month and day, so I'm changing the sampler to Mom's birthday month and day! Ashley

    Happy New Year Sherri! I just got back to cross stitching in 2023, and my first stretch was Heart in Hand's Valentine Tiny Town.I was too nervous to stitch on the called for fabric never thinking I could work on a small count. Well,
    here I am a year later and almost ready to take the dive to 40! Never underestimate the "calling" God has for you and many other Floss Tubers.. my beautiful husband was diagnosed with dementia this year and you can imagine all that goes with that. I am a scrapbook/ junk journaler, but funny how God leads you to the river. I cant carry around all my paper supplies to doctor appointments, therapies and such- but having a stitch in my hands just sort of puts a pillow on top of the worry and nerves. I watched you during his last appointment and all of a sudden he was walking out of the office, and the time had passed- that is a gift money can not buy. So, I just want you to know I so believe in earth angels, special people handpicked by God to help others get through loss, tragedy, and brokenness. People who help the time go by, and give a respite from worry .You are one of those earth angels who keep some smiling, planning future stitches and just to keep moving. God bless you!

      Your sweet comment really touched me - thank you for your thoughtful words. I'm so sorry you are on this dementia journey, but I know you must bring so much comfort to your husband as you both face this with courage and grace. Hugs to you. ❤

    You have so many things to think about and explore ! Great stitching! All of your plans for another year of stitching. I like to listen and see your projects. What linen are you using for Christmas at Hollyberry Farm? I will definitely copy that list of DMC colors! I love to hear you talk about warm and cool colors in your projects. That massage gadget would make a great gift. And this time I will join your winter camp! Thanks for giving so much.

I want to eliminate negative people in my life that basically just drain my energy and impact my health in a negative way, So far it has enhanced my life in a wonderful way! I enjoy my positive upbeat friends and and happiness has fulfilled my heart! People don’t realize how negativity and mean spirited people effect your life! I am stitching GH1857 and love it so much! Sheri - on the Alpine piece - why don't you do the border as charted, and have your framer cut a mat to frame that shape, and still be able to frame as usual. The Village Green is beautiful........... thanks for sharing.

    The favorite thing I stitched on in 2023 was the Prairie Schooler’s Prairie Woods leaflet. It was a project my mother started years ago. She passed away a few years ago and I’m trying to finish as many of her WIPs as I can. This was one of them and I’m so proud of finishing them. I still need to fully finish them but the stitching is all done. Of course my favorite part of the project was picking up on the row of stitching where she left off. ❤

      How wonderful to have pieces that both you and your mom have worked on. That's really special!

  • @spuffed
    @spuffed 8 месяцев назад +1

    on that Alpine piece, don't change the shape! add 4 triangular motifs to make the square. You could just continue that blue border on each axis to meet at 90 degrees. Then you could do an offset fill with a triangle shape of the cloud color or something subtle? Alternatively you could keep the piece as stitched and add little wooden triangle shapes like they were buttons on each corner. Or you could stitch a triangle or something. If you know of the history of the land you occupy, you could take a motif from that tribe... so many possibilities.

    Injustfoundnyour flosstube and I’m loving it! Definitely going to hop over & check your shop we also. Book of days is new to me so , do you have extra pages added when you have it spiral bound? Or does it come with extra pages? I’m clueless on this and would love some insight as I’d love to do one your way!

    • @ColoradoCrossStitcher
      @ColoradoCrossStitcher  8 месяцев назад +1

      I'm so glad you found me - nice to meet you! On the Book of Days, we offer the jazzed up version each year in October as a pre-order in the shop. But you can easily take it to any office store and get the same thing done! We have them spiral bind it, add a clear front and back cover, and then add 5 (65 lb.) cardstock pages in the back.

    In 2023 I started Newcastle Bouquet by Teresa Kogut. I am slowly making progress on the border outline. It has become a favorite project and it will be a special gift when I am done.

    My favorite finished project from 2023 was a small called French Country Sampler by the Victoria Sampler. I’m presently looking for a 5x5 frame to put it in so it can be displayed on our sofa table. It is a fast stitch and, oh, so darn cute.

    My favorite stitch in 2023 was the Welcome to the North Pole by Primrose Cottage. Why? Because we divided the large pattern into 6 parts and I really enjoyed that. I hadn't done a SAL before and I liked knowing that I could finish a section each month (easily) and have a completed project at the end.

    Thanks for another inspiring video! Regarding Alpine, have you considered putting the piece into an oval frame, leaving out the border? My favorite stitch of 2023 was Mighty Acorn, which is still in progress. 😊

    I completed two Blackbird loose feathers stitches in 2023 and I started a Brenda Gervais design ( Needle and Thread). I also worked on Romeo and Juliet by Teresa Wentzler (definitely a long long term project). There were many smaller projects too. Then we went to Boston and we went to the Paul Revere House. When I saw the sampler there I had to stitch it. Most of my stitchie projects are on Aida but this one is on linen and I just love it. The Marie Revere Curtis historical sampler is definitely my favorite project from last year that I hope to finish in 2024. The project bags that you give away are so beautiful. I would be so honored to receive one!

    You have great ideas on how to organize and plan stitching projects. It's hard to pick what was my favorite things was that I stitched in 2023 was. I'm thinking it was Margaret Doyle by Hands Across the Sea. The piece you stitches for your great aunt would look wonder with Margaret Doyle.

    My favorite thing to stitch in 2023 was my Summer Bell Pull II by Stoney Creek. It was a fun stitch and looked fantastic in our RV as a seasonal touch. The wall is so blank without it, I am now working on Fall and plan to kit and stitch Winter and Spring also.

    Yay for another Winter Camp. I've already begun searching my patterns. There were so many things that I stitched this year and it's difficult to choose a favorite however I am going with Bletchley Park by Vivsters. One of my daughter's lives in England and the great-aunt of her husband actually worked at Bletchley Park during the war. I went through a lot of different emotions whilst stitching this piece which I have gifted to my daughter and her husband.

    I'll have to listen again about how to use things like the book of days. Something isn't clicking for me. Oh, I totally understand about keeping accurate records and which details are important but somehow the calendar sort of thing doesn't do it for me.
    The way you organize WIPs or charts to be kitted is interesting. At the moment, I've been keeping all sorts of information like that on a spreadsheet on my computer. Having it sorted into a real life action plan would definitely kick those plans up a notch.
    Loved the story about your grandma that loved to paint things. It reminded me about my grandma (long gone), my mother's mom, who had decided to paint her living room a wine color with white trim. Since the room was small doors, windows and a fireplace didn't leave a lot of space for wall color--only one really, but I do recall the all shocked and disapproving chatter about grandma's wild color scheme; this was in the 50s. However, when Christmas came and the tree and decorations went up, everyone changed their mind and loved it.
    Thanks for the new chart parade albeit a short one. I quite like the Plum Street Winter Garden. I'd like to do that with sparkly threads on the snowflakes and maybe a few clear beads scattered to indicate bits of ice; just a little something to jazz it up a bit.
