I don't know when Lori Holt designed & started using her "Library Cards" with that kind of information written on them, stuck them inside of her designed pockets, & used her Washi tape to adhere them onto the paper backing of her X-stitch pieces... but I have purchased several sets & have used some on the backs of my fully finished X-stitch stitches. To me, it keeps the information secure, as sometimes that backing paper gets soiled, or torn & needs to be replaced. I do realize this VLOG was released 2 years ago, but maybe others will appreciate this information. Fat Quarter Shop sells them, as probably many other shops.
Thank you for using this channel to actually teach, provide great tips and ideas. It’s refreshing to actually receive content to utilize and only just see what stitchers are working on or what they purchased. I have learned so much since I decided to try stitching again after many, many years.
America is dear to my heart. have many very close friends in your country and have visited Colorado a few times, all the way from South Africa. Have learnt so much about cross stitching since finding your channel, thank you so much.
Your America piece is gorgeous. Being retired military I alway thought I wanted to do a United States crossstitch piece and put the years we were lived in each state. Your America chart would be ideal for that! I am so happy I am watching your flosstube. After stitching for 40 years, I am still learning something new! Thank you!
As a new subscriber and an old American, I’m so glad I found your video! If I had had access to your tips, tricks, and knowledge back in the day, late 60’s and 70’s, I might not have ventured forth into quilting! I am excited and inspired to visit needlepoint and cross stitching again! Thank you for your time and wisdom. America the beautiful is my home and I love it.
I first came to know you when you came to Hershey, PA in the United States of America. I've been stitching since the 1970's and with Flosstube's help I'm so glad to see a resurgence in the interest of cross stitch - especially how it's now touching young people's lives today. I love that you are talking about the basics of stitching. I think when we're spending so much love and time on our projects, we might as well be stitching correctly!
Hi Jean, greetings from Down Under. I really enjoy your teaching format. You are so calm which makes it easier to concentrate on what you are saying. Your “America, The Land that I Love” project has such a lot of work in it - amazing that you have done it twice!! I look forward to next week’s class. In the meantime, stay safe and well. 💕🇦🇺
Stitching America the Land that you love for second time and finish it , for me is a great accomplishment. I have never stitch a design twice in my over 39 years stitching 👏
I love your videos I always learn something new. America is the greatest country and I’m so glad I live in America.thank you for taking the time to do these videos .
I haven’t thought about that thread canister in years, but lo and behold, I still have mine! I took several classes from you at the Spirit of Cross Stitch festivals (I went to 2 a year), and moistening the threads was something you showed us in one of the classes. You were one of my favorite teachers then, and 30 years hasn’t changed that a bit. Thanks for doing these videos.
Jean, I've binged all of your Flosstubes this week and I wanted to say thank you! Thank you for clearly explaining all of the topics you've covered! Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge! Thank you for sharing your lovely work! Your channel isn't all fluff, it's a true teaching channel and I'm enjoying it immensely.
Enjoying your informative floss tube videos. I like your America land that I love sampler. America. Proud to be an American. Love the patriotic pieces designers provide.
Thank you for your videos, I have recently found you. You were recommended by Jan Hicks so thought I would watch and learn new tips. I love America and always stand for our flag. So grateful for living here and the amazing freedoms we have.
Hello this is Marion major from Audubon Park South Jersey I find your videos very helpful very interesting and I enjoy watching your shows and your stitching I'm new at cross stitching I'm a quilter and I know it's important to personalize your quilts when you're done and it's very interesting that you said to personalize the cross stitch thank you for the information I really appreciate it have a great day
i am a self taught stitcher from the 1970’s. Thank you for your videos. I have learned so much from watching you and look forward to your next one. I want to start a patriotic wall in my home. As samplers are my favorite stitch, your America chart would be a perfect fit.
Your America piece is beautiful. There are so many ways to personalize it. I'm really enjoying your Flosstubes. I enjoyed the classes I took from you on your first cruise and continue to soak up your wisdom. Thank you for sharing with all of us.
I was watching the Saltbox Stitcher & she recommended watching your flosstube #15 for stitching over one. I’m an “old” stitcher so when I started I pretty much learned as I went along. Believe me there wasn’t as many do dads then like there is now. J&P Clark’s was the floss to use. I’ve since have DMC & Weeks Dye works floss to work with. I even had to learn how to stitch with hand dyed floss. Of course I started out with Aida cloth but saw stitching on linen & was hooked. I used to use hardanger but a few yrs ago I realized I couldn’t see it very well! So I started using 32 ct linen. I quit stitching about 25 yrs ago & just recently became inspired to start again by Nichol Spohrs floss tube. I’d already been watching her card making. It was then I heard her talking about stitching one over one on 40 ct linen. If I was having trouble stitching on 32 ct how would I ever be able to do one over one on 38 + ct? I got a magnifier light for around my neck but it’s a pain in my neck! Your tube #15 was very similar to what I did when I started stitching on linen. I looked at it like a tic tac tie space using only the corner holes Only one over one just uses the corners. I don’t think I’ll ever stitch on the larger ct linen! Also your hints on storing floss was very helpful. I’ll be watching more to learn more hints. Of course all of my floss (except my weeks are stored in a ring binder) has been neatly wrapped around bobbins & stored in plastic cases. That was the thing to do back then! Anyway I wanted to tell how much I enjoyed your flosstube & will tune again. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Oh, is Victorian cross doing a half stitch across several stitches & then going back over the half stitch? I’d not heard that name before.
Thank you so much for all this information! I feel like I'm getting a master class for free. I just started stitching again after many years and am so thankful for utube. I am enjoying all your videos. Take care!
Thank you for showing and talking about thread knots and storage. Brilliant! I had not heard of dampening the threads. I believe my stitching is going to be much easier. Love all the knowledge you are sharing. I am new stitcher and loving everything about it. Your America project is beautiful! A labor of love!
Hi Jean! I also use thread drops to store my threads. I make the drops myself using heavy card stock. I store my thread rings on a tiered metal pant hanger by pushing clips to the outside edges and slipping rings over the clips so they don't slide off. I then took a cotton pillow protector that zips closed at bottom and fashioned a hole at the top so I could slip hanger through. Im able to keep an entire set of every DMC color comfortably on 2 hangers on my closet rod, covered and dust free. I use a wonderful antique 12 inch ruler to wrap my thread and prepare it for the thread drops ending with 24 inch threads. The ruler belonged to my grandmother who taught me to stitch when I was a young girl. I get the added benefit of thinking of our wonderful times stitching together as I prepare my thread. Love your videos and am hoping to take another cruise with you in the future. Oh and by the way AMERICA is a land that I love!!
With Covid-19, I miss America even though I am still here. Your excellent FlossTube videos are such a generous contribution to all of us stuck at home during the pandemic. Thank you! Stay well.
Hi Jean, I think I had the pleasure of meeting you at a Stitching event at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania many years ago. Your advice was to trim loose threads "dangerously close". I love watching your videos. You are a great teacher.
I just discovered your channel the other day and have been binge watching the episodes from the beginning. I've been stitching for 35+ years and have learned a few new things and got reacquainted with ideas and techniques I'd forgotten about. The idea of basting the edges of stitching before framing is brilliant! Thanks so much for sharing your time and knowledge with the stitching community!
Enjoy watching and learning from your videos. I've been stitching for a lot of years starting in the 70's so it like a refresher course for me. I really enjoy stitching themes relating to America.
I enjoy your videos. I have learned several new tips despite having stitched for many years. During this year of many challenges, America is still a beautiful country.
Thank you for your very informative video. I a returning stitcher after a several decade hiatus and I enjoyed the refresher and update. Your America, Land that We Love project is stunning.
Thank you so so much for the tip about moistening your thread with the damp sponge in a case! I haven’t had one knot since doing it! FABULOUS easy tip!!!!!
Dear Jean, I am in awe of your needlework and the wisdom u have in regards to this craft. I am so delighted that I found your channel and find it so easy to listen as your demeanor is so awesome. I have been stitching a long time but I have learned so much from u. Keep up the wonderful work. Congrats on finishing for th second time America land that we love. Respectfully, Linda S
I am so pleased to find your channel after Anna from Stitch Roadies told us about you. I am new to cross stitching and this video has taught me so much. Thank you. 🌺
I just found your channel and really enjoyed it. I started crosstitching more than 40 years ago but have not crosstitched in years because of getting old and the eyes not what they use to be. Recently I have had the desire to pick it back up. I found your tip on avoiding knots so very helpful. I also needle tat and your tip will come in handy keeping my tatting thread knot free. I could not help but laugh when watching you do what is now being called the Victorian Cross stitch. I did that years ago just because I was so tired of the down from the front up from the back stitch. I would go against the grain to find any kind of short cut I could. I guess I was a rebel back in the 70s
Hi Jean, I am enjoying your Flosstube videos. I used your loop method to bury a short end tip on the very thread that was on my needle right when you were saying it. Thank you, I try not to play chicken but it happens. I live in Western Massachusetts in America. And I look forward to your next Flosstube. Take care and stay safe, Joanne
I an learning so much with you my dear lady!!!!! I live in Melbourne and years ago I saw a display of beautiful cross stich work by many ppl there, this was at the Suntree Library, the problem is that there is not one cross-stitch store around here. I have to buy online. Thank you for all the time you use teaching us, who thought knew all about cross stitch. You have answered my most intricate questions, that I was so embarrassed to ask.
Are you in Melbourne, Florida? If so there is a wonderful EGA chapter there. I taught this sampler to the group in January 2020 and that's how the sampler got its name. You may want to join the Facebook group called Sunshine Stitchers ... it's focus is on Florida stitching!
@@JeanFarishNeedleworks I would love to, but sadly, I closed my Facebook account in. 2017, couldn't take the rudeness of ppl. I will try to go back to that library bc somebody has to know the group who presented that beautiful amount of designs 2 years ago. I do appreciated the time you took to comment. I am watching your 7th flosstube and learning soooo much, thank you again
Thank you for all the tips. My Dad was a Navy Chaplain and we lived all over America. I would stitch this and personalize it with the dates we lived there, visited there, or to go to.
America the Beautiful! I haven't stitched for years but when I saw your Sampler today I thought I'd love to do that. Thank you for being so wonderful to teach on line.
Hello! Thank you for demonstrating and posting tips, etc. I appreciate the time you took to do so. I'm just dipping my toe back into handwork after quite a long break, and enjoyed the floss drop tip and pulling one strand from the drop will be life changing as I tackle modifying a Bucilla felt Christmas kit. Thought you should know your time spent have been very helpful to me and I'm sure many others.
I love America my heart bleeds Red White and blue. This is my first time watching you on RUclips and I learned a lot from you today. I subscribed today
Found your Flosstube and learned some very good tips. Thank you. I really enjoyed seeing your Land That We Love piece! Beautiful. A wonderful representation of our America! I happen to be in Tennessee, so I had to smile when you referred to my state with you long stitch/back stitch explanation. Thank you so much for sharing!
Only just found you Jean, and boy am I glad I did😀. I have been cross stitching on and off for 30+ years(self taught like many). I still found your tips very handy indeed, thank you. I didn't look at the date sew i'll just hope America still works lol. Off to watch your other videos. Take care🤗
I love that you have lots of tips and tricks in your videos. I am from Romania, and last year i visited America for the first time, but i hope it will not be the last. :)
In your past video you showed how to lasso! I just found myself in a situation after taking out some previously stitched stitches the threads were too short. I was going to take out more to make my thread longer, then I could hear you telling us about how to lasso. I did it and it worked! Yahoooo! Thank you.
America! I am American and I live in the UK where materials are hard to find. I am just getting back into cross stitch and enjoying the “refresher” course. Thanks so much.
I love all of your insights on stitching. You are so easy to watch and very helpful. I thank you, although I am not from America, not that that should matter.... greeting from Canada :)
I love they way you stitched America on the top of America, The Land That We Love. I’m really enjoying your floss tube channel. I’m working similarly in some ways and your tips for working are excellent & I’ll be incorporating it in the way I work. A big thank you for sharing.
This s the first time I have seen your video. I am so happy to have found it. I subscribed right away. The tips were great. I especially liked the waste knot starts. I am trying so hard to keep the back of my work as neat as I can. I am very bad at it. I found the look method and use that all the time when I am starting a new strand of floss. However when have used it and am done I needed to be able to use that floss again and cannot use the loop method. So now I can use the waste knot method and it will help keep the back neat. Thank you so much for that tip. I love America.
I love America! And I love all the cross stitch tips that you share with us. I purchased America Land That We Love and can't wait to get started on it.
Another excellent video Jean. I was lucky enough to visit America with my parents as a child, we had some wonderful times in Los Angeles and, as an adult I have spent time in Colorado with work. I'd like to make a return trip to do some crafty shopping in some of the wonderful needle craft stores you have over there. Your "America" Land that we love project is stunning, all the stitches are so neat and tidy and the thread colours are beautiful.
I like your American is beautiful. I like your video. I stitch wend in the 80 and stop. I come back about one ago and cross stitch have changed. I love to stitch .😊💜💜❤
So many great tips! I especially love the tip on including documentation on the back of a framed piece. I worked in a frame shop back in the 70's to help put myself through school & learned about including a pocket on the back to slip in information about the piece being framed. My husband & I have done this throughout our marriage with original art and signed & dated framed prints we've purchased. I include info on the artist, date/place purchased (the receipt), occasion for purchase, etc. I love the idea of doing this for our needlework. Future generations will certainly appreciate it. Thanks for all the great information you are sharing!
America Land That WE Love is an amazing piece. I've been been a fan of yours for many years. Thanks for sharing and teaching it's important not to let this craft go away.
America. That being said, I want to thank you so much for this video. I was stitching when I watched it and tried the waste method and can’t believe I have never used it before. I would always hold the thread on the back and try to catch it with the first stitches which was a pain in the you know what. Thank you so much for doing these videos. I have been stitching for 40 years, but just did things like I have always done them. I guess you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. Have a great day.
Thanks for sharing all of your tips. I am especially enjoying the stitches other than cross-stitches instruction. Congratulations on finishing your America piece.
Thank you for the many great stitxhing tips. I thought after stitching for 20+ years that I knew it all, but not so. Thank you also for your professionalism in your videos. I am proud to live in America.
I'm new to cross stitching, you're a great teacher. Thank you!😊🌷
Thank you! 😊

I'm hoping for better things for America in 2021. Thank you, I've been stitching for 30+ years and I learn something new with each of your videos.

Actually, it's "Evening Star Quilted Cat"
I am so grateful for the tips on how to get less knots. Viewer in North America 🙋🏻♀️

I will try to go back to that library bc somebody has to know the group who presented that beautiful amount of designs 2 years ago. I do appreciated the time you took to comment. I am watching your 7th flosstube and learning soooo much, thank you again
Oh my goodness!! This video has answered SO MANY questions and addressed so many helpful tips!! THANK YOU!!!!
It’s Labor Day weekend here in America. Love listening to your videos.
Thank you for all the tips. My Dad was a Navy Chaplain and we lived all over America. I would stitch this and personalize it with the dates we lived there, visited there, or to go to.
I love that idea! If you do Facebook, I hope you'll join the JFN SAL page and share your work!
America the Beautiful! I haven't stitched for years but when I saw your Sampler today I thought I'd love to do that. Thank you for being so wonderful to teach on line.
First time I have watched one of your videos. Very informative. Also, I LOVE America.
Thank you for your wonderful videos! I have been reminded of things I have forgotten and have learned a few new things. God Bless America!
I've recently started cross stitching again and have been learning how to stitch the right way. Thanks for all the helpful tips and God Bless America.
Glad it was helpful! And thanks for watching.
I love America my heart bleeds Red White and blue. This is my first time watching you on RUclips and I learned a lot from you today. I subscribed today
Awesome! Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Only just found you Jean, and boy am I glad I did😀. I have been cross stitching on and off for 30+ years(self taught like many). I still found your tips very handy indeed, thank you. I didn't look at the date sew i'll just hope America still works lol. Off to watch your other videos. Take care🤗
First time viewer! Very enjoyable and informative! Thanks so much! Your America stitchery is beautiful!
Welcome! Thanks for watching.
Yahoooo! Thank you.
America. Jean, I love your RUclips videos. You are informative and share so many wonderful tips. I am starting today to dampen my floss. Thank you.
America your expertise is so welcoming to a new stitcher like mr
Thanks for watching!
America! I am American and I live in the UK where materials are hard to find. I am just getting back into cross stitch and enjoying the “refresher” course. Thanks so much.
Wonderful!
You gave me the answer I was seeking.... a better way to organize floss! And great tips to boot! I am glad I discovered you. Thank you!!
You are so welcome!
America is the Land that I Love!! Your videos are so helpful to me. Thanks so much for sharing your needlework knowledge with us!
Yahoo!! America. Great flosstube, keep them coming.
Your Floss Tube is the only one I watch, and you've incentivised me to get my America, Land That We Love chart out and kit it up!
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
I learn something new with each of your videos. Thank you from a viewer who does not live in America 😊💚
Thanks for these ideas ... and thanks for watching!
OH MY GOSH! So happy I just found you! So down to earth, you get right to the point, clear. Thank you!!!
I'm so glad we found each other!
America Land That WE Love is an amazing piece. I've been been a fan of yours for many years. Thanks for sharing and teaching it's important not to let this craft go away.
I agree!
I have been stitching on and off for 35 years, and I love your explanations and suggestions. America!
Jean...thank you for your excellent tutorials and tips. I love America and have discovered patriotic cross stitch to be a way to express that love.
I am really enjoying your Floss Tube videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. God bless America!
Thank you for all the tips. I am relatively new to cross stitch and have a lot to learn! I love America!
I find your posts very helpful. God Bless America.
I love America . Happy Labor Day. Love your videos .
America! I really miss your Spirit of Cross Stitch Festivals! I live in High Point NC and have followed you for decades!
I love learning new tips and tricks from you as do stitchers across America do!!
