He tapped out 🤣🤣. Seeing Jamie truly terrified is rare. And that was the look he has the entire ride along 😂. I owned a 500hp turbo k20 EF civic hatch that was gutted so I can attest to the fact that 480hp in that mini is a terrifying power to weight ratio. I’d absolutely LOVE to drive this animal.

Same here, many years back I had a built EG hatch, k20 with a slight bore out to 89mm, big turbo, stripped, carbon bits here and there but mostly stock body. The thing was a death machine, struck fear into me even after 3 years of owning it, and it weighed next to nothing (relatively), but it still can’t get to the weight of this mini lol. This one actually weighs next to nothing, I cannot imagine what nearly 500hp feels like in a car that weighs less than 1700 pounds 😂

@@Force1Com not the same sketch factor. no turbo. it would be the same if you had something like a draw through weber'd turbocharged harley. as in a bike truely not meant for speed, with a stupid amount of torque popping in suddenly at high rpm...
@@Force1Com thing is, the bike's designed and engineered for the power/speed. The mini isn't and their notorious for going off like a spinning top if they do go. From the movement of the front end you can see in the vid, that car's scary af!

@@czierwo of course it will, it will help tons when accelerating in a straight line. The hopping around is because its loosing traction momentarily even at 80mph!! Awd would not do this because none of the wheels will be loosing traction if it is a decent system I.e permanent or a very modern haldex, not a 1st gen one that only reacts after the tyres are spinning!

@@andrechilver7783 doesn’t need good brakes on the rear. There is no weight over the rear and plus I don’t want the rear to lock up on heavy braking

I can't drive due to disabilities, at first I was absolutely gutted but many many years have passed & I've learned to live with it.
This car however? Brings massive smiles but also breaks my heart a little, no joke! I wanted to build something very similar waaaaay back when, it wouldn't have been a drop in the ocean compared to this beast but still. I purchased my OG Mini with damn near every penny to my name & it sat in my parents driveway waiting for me to pass my test! I'd seen a guy with an Astra VXR Engine in his so I was looking into buying what I needed, my Dad owned a Metal Fab Shop at the time too! Stars were aligning! Theeeen I had my first seizure, provisional had to be sent back hoping I'd pick it up again when everything was sorted & unfortunately there it has stayed.
My mate did however buy my Mini & he did in fact build the Mini I'd planned on putting together, My Dad & I helped out with the build & he raced it for a couple seasons!
Apologies for the life story lol, but this car is just perfection! Everything i could've ever dreamed of! Massive props for going all out bonkers on this!

OG Mini's of this type had about 40hp.
60 ish for a 1275 like this one. 30 something for an 850 and 40 something for a 998. So well over 10x the power of a lot of them 😬😬
I built a mid 80's mustang. 560 rwhp. At 145 mph I nailed it and took up 3 lanes on the motor way!! Came home pulled in my drive and front left tierod fell out! Love this channel

It looked like it was the torque steer that made Jamie throw in the towel rather than the speed. It looked like it struggled to stay on a dual carriageway never mind in lane. Absolute madness.

How refreshing, two hot-rodding friends that actually wear seatbelts and shoulder harnesses while ripping around in their hopped up Austin Mini. I don't know how many U.S. hot rodders that I have seen sitting "on" their seatbelts and ripping up the pavement in fast cars. In the states, they really, really, seem to have a massive aversion to the seatbelt/shoulder harness concept, and really I don't know why. This Honda powered Austin Mini looks like an absolute blast, guys!!! :)
Definitely one of those moments where you know you’re probably safe, but smashing the pedal to the floor just feels too dangerous and too fast lmao. I’ve been in a fair few of these tiny car, high horsepower death machines and it’s as sketchy as it gets when it comes to cars. These things are no joke…

I think a mini with about 220hp would be a lot of fun especially in the twisties, this thing is insane! I would love to see it handed over to the Stig for a few quick laps to see how it would compare to the times of other cars on the old Top Gear Show.
@Bercilak de hautdesert My first car was a 1969 mini cooper S, it only had a 1325cc engine with a twin side draft weber but in the twisties it left all my friends cars for dead, one of them had a 2 liter ford escort and the other a v8 ford but in tight twisty places like up a mountain side they would all be left behind. I dought it had 70hp LOL

My death trap dream build is a 3 rotor Autozam AZ-1 (N/A) but I am open to different engine options including a turbo huyabusa or another 3 cylinder engine block for modifications.

since I seen moogs on youtube mighty car mods channel with a B18 vtec I was always thinking how good was and if many would do it few have and few unsuccessful attempts from kids eather crashing or cutting out stuff shouldn't have but this looks aggressive love raw look to it color too not too flash just perfect diamond plate inside looks awsome

These classic mini are very twitchy and don't like to go straight. Add 4 to 5 times the power and it's even worse.

Back in the day I bought a russet brown mini 850 and fitted a modified metro turbo engine with its T3 turbo that had around 175hp and that was pretty lethal with torque steer on boost, it used to throw me from verge to verge on a country lane, so I can’t even begin to understand how lethal this will feel with that much hp.
I really dislike the wheels on this but it’s his choice.
I also think there is tons of weight he could remove on this to make it even quicker.

This car reminds me of the Nissan Micra, about 15 years ago, that had a 450+bhp sr20det from a Nissan Pulsar GTiR in it that kept its front wheel drive transmission. That car met its demise on a track day at, I think 130+mph, as the back end became light at high speed and the wheels left the tarmac due to too poor aero. I fear the same might happen with this car, if a bit more development isn't taken into getting the car to be more stable.
I'm SR20 swapping my K10 at the moment, but I'm scared of it meeting its demise with 5x stock power. That car is my pride and joy

Those B18C engines with turbo are insane. Even on 10 psi in a Type R traction between gears isn't there until 4th gear because it spins the tire on every acceleration without race changing. 10,000 rpm in every gear too. in 5th, the speed clock comes back to zero. It take discipline to drive.

Years ago I had one with 1275 engine at about 1430cc a series bored, stroked lightened and balanced with stage 3 head etc and thought it was great, I kept the 850 badge on it lol. This car makes me feel well underachieving lol, mine used to fight a bit but that was the fun but this thing is a monster.
