  • In this weeks tip, I want to show you my quick and easy way to create Roman/Greek looking sugar pillars that can be used to separate tiers. I show you a simple way to cover a wooden dowel with a pillar design, and a second method to make an ancient broken pillars cake topper that can be used for any Greek or Roman themed cake.

Hi from Canada. I was wondering what you used to roll the pattern on the first pillar. I know you have a genius way of using construction supplies and this one I couldn't identify. Thank you so much for all your tutorials. I find myself having your videos running in the background when I'm working on my projects because you calm me. :)

Finding your channel on RUclips has been wonderful for instruction and inspiration. My area has been limited to decorated and 3D cookies. As a novice sugar artist, my biggest project has been an 8 inch 3D, R2-D2 and BB8. Now, my son has decided on a cookie bar at his wedding reception (which I can do no problem) but wants a cake style centerpiece for the display. Can pastillage be used to sculpt over a cereal treat form? His theme is Dungeons and dragons so the dragon part will be 16 inches long, and I think I need a supported form for stability. I appreciate your advice.

Fondant has fat to keep soft/ gum paste has extra tylose to create firmness and dry as result. Pastillage no fat for rigid result so you can build higher and stronger installations.
