@@WinesPinesandCanines we are looking at couples campers in general. My wife is leaning towards the retro campers from Riverside or Gulfstream, but I'm pretty open. I do like the Murphy bed models a lot, but what you two did with the queen to king is a very creative solution!

Nicely done mods and video. Liked the mix between inside/outside. Especially liked the bed extension and hinges on the sofa. The dimming lights are nice. I could go on. One of the best RV videos I’ve seen (probably well over a hundred hours of video... we’re researching buying a camper and have zeroed in on the G19 or E19 series). One of you must be an engineer. Thank you from a fellow North Caroliner.

I have the Epro version of this. Im so glad I watched your videos. I found the frame bolts (nuts) issue on your last one as well as other issues you describe. We also sleep the king way. One issue I had was the failure of the Dometic 300 toilet. Im guessing you were spared this smelly debacle . Mine was still under warranty , but I chose to give them 50 bucks and upgraded to the 310 anyway. We did add a curtain for the sleeping area. This is our 7th rig and we peaked at a 31 ft TT. I did swap tires on a hunch. Goodyear now makes US tires and I swapped to them; the originals were only 1.5 yrs old and the tire place showed me hidden separation on the inside right side. Im glad i avoided that potential fiasco. Really nice video, spouse now has me assigned to several of your mods. Overall I like mine too.

Thank you for watching and glad you found it helpful! Yes - luckily we were spared the issue with the 300 but did see that so many did not. We just upgraded to the 310 and it looks to be a substantial upgrade! How did you add the curtain - attach to ceiling with a track or a curtain rod? Wondering how well it would stay up in travel. 7! Wow - the things you must have had to fix haha! This is our second. First one was an older Class C that we tore apart to remodel. Learned a lot on that one! And thanks for the tip on the Goodyears. We have been lucky so far but next year will be time likely. Thanks again for the view and positive feedback! Happy camping and safe travels!

@@WinesPinesandCanines I used a length of that stretch cord you see on kayaks etc. I ran it thru the sewn top curtain loop with dog leash type clips on each end; I put an eye in the side of the TV console and another in the wood framing of the slide. The stretch cord gives way if one pulls on the curtain and it also keeps it taught. We also made the curtain in two pieces with it split in the middle for easier entry and exit (a very good idea of my wife's; she made the curtain). When not in use i just unclip the end attached to the eye in the slide framing and clip on the other to get it out of the way. When its stretched out in use the small open area in the top allows for air flow from the AC unit too.

Great video, I’m looking to purchase our first trailer for my wife and me to travel the country. I’m wondering how easy it would be for me to pull the GEO PRO 19FDS with a Toyota Tacoma. It’s rated to pull 6,400 lbs, but I’ve read enough to know not to get close to the limit, I was figuring something about 3,000 lbs dry weight would be about right. I don’t want to have any problems in the mountains pulling something to heavy, so I would go down in size or get a bigger truck. I really like my Tacoma so I’m hoping it will do the job with this trailer, seems perfect for a couple. Also, I was most interested in this model and the E-Pro 19 FD, the one with the Murphy bed. Any comments about which of these are better would be appreciated. Thanks

    • @WinesPinesandCanines
      @WinesPinesandCanines  3 года назад +2

Thank you for watching! We actually started pulling the 19FBS with a V6 Tundra with a towing capacity of 5200lbs. It pulled it but we didn't want to take it on long trips / over mountains which is why we upgraded to the V8 Tundra. But your Tacoma with a 6400 lb limit should do better than our old Tundra. I know that alot of people on the facebook group we are members of (Rockwood GeoPro and Flagstaff Epro Owners) have a Tacoma and are pulling the larger units. We also did a video of when we took this one to be weighed and the gross weight came in right at 3800 lbs with all of our camping items except food/clothes and a tongue weight of 600 lbs. We looked at the FD as well but just weren't sold on the murphy bed as it was smaller (and couldn't do the mod to make a king) and no slide. But it had a bigger bathroom which would be nice! And Rockwood did just come out with a 19FDS (FD with a slide) - dry weight around 3400 lbs and a 20FBS (2 feet longer than the 19FBS) - dry weight around 3300 lbs. It is such a hard choice but for us it came down to layout and we liked having the slide. Hope you hunt goes well and you find your perfect camper! Safe travels.

Rick, We had a 2017 Toyota Tacoma and purchased our Geo Pro 19FBS in July 2020. The reason I wanted the 19FBS was its weight and we could tow it with the Tacoma. I had done what I thought was a lot of research and it appeared that the Tacoma should be able to pull the Geo Pro. We pulled the trailer with the Tacoma on two trips. The last was from Allentown PA to State College to drop our kids off at Penn State. As we were coming home the Tacoma's Transmission Temp Light came on. We stopped pulled over for a while, restarted and everything was fine. I later did some research and found that this may happen on longer trips and its not good for the Transmission. Since we had a trip planned for the Finger Lakes (NY), I traded the Tacoma for Tundra. With the Tundra, you barely know the 19FBS is behind you. Ironically though with the Tacoma, I got 14 MPG when towing the 19FBS with the Tundra I only get 12MPG. As far as the 19FBS... It is our first and we love it. Like the these folks say, most of your camping is done outside. Someone told me don't wait for the perfect set up to get out there and camp. Of the 4 trips with have taken so far we have had a blast and have met so many nice campers. Good Luck!

Hi Allan! Thanks for watching! We did a video a few months ago that we talk about our favorite campsites to date - ruclips.net/video/O5DC-2zIrnw/видео.html.
We do have a Ninja Foodi Air Fryer Oven (looks like a toaster oven) that we will bring on longer trips. We have a convection microwave but it doesn't really toast/brown things so we do like a toaster oven for small pizzas, garlic bread... But it does take up room and if we aren't at a campground ours won't run on the inverter. We do meal planning before each trip, so if it will be used at least a few times, it comes along!
Safe travels and happy camping to you! California is a state on our list - the camping possibilities are endless!

I was looking at this model, as well as some others in the same size class. It seems like no one makes anything that's absolutely perfect. If I do buy one in the near future, no matter what brand, the first thing I'll do is to remove the grab handle for the door.

Agreed - we have not found the "perfect" one but there are so many options out there, at least we only have to make a few compromises!
On the grab bar - Forest River did make this camper a few inches longer the next year so no longer an issue on this model. But recently have seen it on other models and with other manufacturers so something to pay attention to!
We actually modified our handle and cut it down about a year ago. It isn't perfect but has held up very well over the past year and is no longer an issue, so may do a video eventually!

Thanks for this video. I'm considering buying one of these this summer. Your hassock design is pure genius....I'm going to copy that. Does your trailer have a heated underbelly? Heat pads on the tanks? I'm going to use it in cold weather.

Thank you for watching! And thank you on the ottoman idea - it was trial and error and figuring out what would work best in the camper. The trailer unfortunately does not have a heated underbelly and while heat pads are an option, ours didn’t come with it. We don’t do super cold weather camping as we are in the south but have used it with temps in the high 20’s with no problem as long as the heat is on. I have heard others mention that they are hard on the batteries as well. Hope that helps!

Nice, informative video. Hopefully, this can easily be towed with my 2021 Toyota Highlander V6.

Thank you for watching! We originally towed with a V6 Tundra. It did pull it but struggled a little in the mountains. The one thing is the tongue weight on these is listed around 420 lbs but that is before any cargo and batteries. Our tongue weight consistently runs in the high 500's and that is with nothing in the tanks. Hope that helps!

Dan, Did you ever find a trailer to pull? I also have a Toyota Highlander V6 (2009 model) with tow package, but am concerned about the loaded tongue weight being over 500 lbs.

@@garyblack7677 no, turns out our HIghlander had no tow package. We bought a V8 Tundra and then a 2021 Surveyor Legend 19RBLE

Good video - thanks! Lots of comments, and I don't know how to search through them, so I'll risk asking a repeat question. You mention several times the facebook group. I checked, and there are more than a couple for epro/geopro. Which is the one you prefer?

Thank you for watching! No problem on questions - since we made the video, a lot of groups have popped up! It is the Rockwood GeoPro and Flagstaff Epro Travel Trailers. It is a very active group, quite a few members and has been a wealth of info for owners. There is also another one that has been around for just as long - not quite as active but a good resource as well - Flagstaff Epro Campers and GeoPro Campers by Rockwood.

2:57 I do hope you've thought about your fire escape. While cooking you are increasing your fire risk and you've blocked the primary exit.

We totally agree that fire safety in a camper is important. We can still get by the tray extension and out the door. It also folds down with the click of a button and the fire extinguisher is right beside it. Thanks for watching!

The closet does allow us to hang a pretty good amount of clothes - easily 10 pieces of clothing. And we thought about getting a bar for the back seat of the truck that allows you to hang clothes as well. Thanks for watching!
