Been on TRT for 4 years because my T was almost 0 - First piece of advice, get yourself some 18g needles and use those to draw the oil into the syringe. Then swap the needle with something smaller like the 25g or 23g to do the injection. Every time you insert the needle into the vial, it dulls it, so you use one to draw and one to inject. Don't re-use the needles, they are cheap enough. TRT oils are thick, so the larger gauge needles are better for it. The injection can sting depending on where you inject, and if that's the case, just put some ice on the area 5 minutes before you inject - it takes the edge off of places like the quad (which is easier to reach on your own than glutes). Swap injection sites every injection so the scar tissue build up is manageable (scar tissue is a real bitch to inject into). I'm sorry you're having to do this brother, but the important thing is you are alive, and you are helping the world. Keep focusing on the positive, and we'll be here for you.

Was going to give the same exact advice. 18g drawing needle into 5/8 or 1 inch 25g are best for quads/glutes. 1/2 inch 27g for shoulders and hips. Also since you are going to be on it for life I suggest going 100mg a week. Personally though I don't think 200mg every 2 weeks is enough, but you'll know in your blood work. My buddy is on it and does 250mg of testosterone undecanoate which is the slowest releasing. It's based on just not wanting to do the shots but it's proven that the best ester is propionate as far as it contains the most actual testosterone per ML but you have to do more injections much more often, like every 3 days. Plus has the doctor given you anti-estrogens?

Hey Pete! Your needle needs to be 1-1 1/2 length, and 22-25 gauge depending on size of muscle! Swab with alcohol, then insert the needle and pull back the syringe just a little to make sure you don't get blood! Because you want this in the muscle! If you get blood, simply pull out, change your needle and try again! Once this is established you can inject your Testosterone! When you pull out the needle have your alcohol swab you used previously and rub where you injected! This helps the medication distribute! gtgrnhuh1 The only thing I would say as a possible caveat to what you said, would be the gauge of the needle. I have been on TRT and because Testosterone comes in the form of an oil base, it can be hard to inject through a smaller gauge needle. Sucks to do, but I used an 18-20 gauge needle. Look up landmarks for injection sites on google as well, Pete. I inject into my right and left quadriceps, take a palm and your finger length from your knee cap, roll your hand laterally (to the outside portion of your leg) and that’s a good site. There are others as well - if you have any questions as well, I’m here!

Nurse here. English is not my first language so I may have some trouble finding the right medical terms.
Here's some tips for the injection:
1: You are right about pushing in some air before you start drawing out into the syringe. Otherwise you are pulling vacuum into the bottle making the fluid want to go back.
2: In the hospital we usually use a larger gauge (wider) needle to pull out into the syringe then swap needles to appropriate size (note: I believe the higher the gauge number the smaller the needle and that is kind of confusing so I rather say wider/bigger needle and narrower/smaller needle). In this case an intramuscular needle. Intramuscular needles are usually pretty wide already so they should work to pull out from the bottle...It seems you have a smaller needle. This may be because its way less painful and the product (testosterone) is really well dissolved or watery so it can go through that size needle (some more viscous products wouldn't be able to push through that small a needle at all).
3: Getting rid of the air and possible air bubbles from the syringe you did great.
4: Something I don't think I saw you do when actually injecting but is very important: Once you've positioned the needle in your muscle, ALWAYS pull back the plunger first like you are trying to extract fluid/blood. This is to make sure the needle tip is not located right in a vein. When you pull back and get blood pulled into the syringe you are in a vein and need to re-position. Now I don't know much about testosterone and maybe it's a drug that can be injected intravenously no problem. In that case it wouldn't matter. The general rule however is when you are aiming for intramuscular injection that it could be very, VERY bad news bears (depending on the drug) if you accidentally injected intravenously. The idea when injecting into a muscle is that the drug gets absorbed relatively slowly. When injecting intravenously the whole dose of the injected drug goes through your hearth and pumped around in a matter of minutes.
5: ALWAYS work sterile. If you ever touch the needle or it bumps into something, change your needle. Any part of what is going into you (so the drug, the inside of the syringe, the metal part of the needle) needs to be completely sterile. When fiddling around with the needle inside the bottle trying to get the drug in to syringe it is really easy to accidentally touch part of the needle with your fingers.
If in doubt, plan one of your injections when your are at the hospital or doctors office and have a nurse or the doctor guide you through it. It's not rocket science but if you're going to be injecting yourself for the rest of your life you need to be confident you are doing it right.
I don't know too much about testosterone therapy but I would choose injections too. No doubt the gel is a good product or they wouldn't present it as an option but I think you can administer a much more precise dose with injections.
You've still got more balls than a lot of people I know. Stay strong Pete, you're awesome.

You need 2 needles. One for drawing it out of the vial, and one for injecting, for 2 reasons:
1. The needle dulls every time you push it into something. So, when you pin your body with the needle you used to draw, it's going to hurt more.
2. Test is suspended in oil; it's thick and hard to draw out. You can use a bigger gauge needle to draw it, the swap out for a smaller needle for injection.
I use 21g to draw and 25g to inject, with very little pain.

@@1987jugernaut you will eventually develop scar tissue, so I highly recommend rotating sites. The needles are rather small, but you do need to give sites breaks. Quads do tend to hurt less, but with practice your upper arm will hurt less as well. They do make numbing creams if that is your concern. Hope this helps!

Edit: Ask your doctor for a prescription for 18 gauge needle tips to draw the medicine out of the vial since it's so thick. Then swap back to your other, more thin needle to inject yourself with. Makes it much much easier.

Sorry!!! Med school messed me up lol. But my pharmacology professor happened to be the dad of a friend of mine and he was conceived by in vitro fertilization and my professor told us, "when either him or his brother would misbehave I'd tell them stop or you're going back to the freezer " we all laughed our asses off.
I'm on hormone therapy too, your needle to withdraw the med is too thin.
I recommend going with a 19 guage needle to take out the medication, then to replace it with a smaller needle for actual administration. The 25g you have will be comfortable for injecting.
Also rotate your injection sites, each site will build up scar tissue over time, especially if you use the same area.

Pete! I wish you the best in all this! As a RN I want you to know that the test will take about a month for you to notice the change, have your injections done at the same day every two weeks depending on the half life of the drug, meaning if you are to inject Monday, be sure to inject the next Monday or two depending on what the doctor recommends for your body or else your levels will go from high to low every few weeks. For your needles If it’s too slow for you, use a 24G needle, inject .75 cc of air then draw up .75cc of test, sometimes you notice that your not getting anything it’s because you may be pulling back on the syringe with the tip of the needle not submerged in the drug. Always be sure to clean the top of the vial and your arm, thigh or butt really good to prevent infection and aspirate when possible, meaning when you stick the needle in, pull back on the syringe to see if you get blood, if you do that means your in a vein not the muscle, pull out, new needle and try again in a new spot.

Draw with a large needle like an 18 or 20 gauge needle, inject with a smaller like a 23 gauge. Don't inject with the same thing you used to draw, it'll blunt the needle. Use the larger one to draw, twist it off, replace it with a smaller one and you're good to go.
yes this, the oil is thick so needs a bigger needle to go through to pull out of the bottle. with injecting you want to inject slowly so the smaller needle works well

Correct..but 18-20 gauge draw is too thick...as is 23 gauge injection.
I draw with 22 or 23 gauge and inject with 30 gauge insulin needles backfield.
I put my oil anywhere...bis (inner/outer), tris (lateral,medial,long), chest, calves, traps, delts (side, front, rear (cant reach), lats (cant reach), hams, quads (inner, outer, upper, mid, lower), brachoradialis.

My testosterone is naturally low as of the last couple of years. I take 200 mg every two weeks, and that puts me in the normal range. I used to have the injection done at the Dr, but switched to doing it myself. I usually do the injection next to the hip, in the glute, and then the following injection, I switch sides. As for drawing it...I use a 22 GX needle, and it is sloooooow. Testosterone is some thick stuff. The first couple of times I did it, it must have taken me 10 or 15 minutes. You'll get better the more you do it. I've been on TRT for about four years now, with no side effects. You can definitely tell when your levels start to tank. Good luck, Pete, and thank you for being so open with your situation. I'm a long time viewer, and hope to watch for another ten years and beyond!
I use an 18 gauge needle to withdraw with. Only take a few secs. Just tell the pharm u get the normal ones to inject and the 18g to withdraw since it takes forever. They won't care, or ask questions. They get it. Been doing it for 20yrs. Good luck!

I've been on TRT for just over two years now after finding out my levels were 150 Ng/DL. It will take some time to find what works best for you, but let me share what I've found works well. I draw with a 20G x 1" 3ML Syringe, then change the top part (Needle) over to a 25G, 1" 3ML needle before injecting. I also inject 100mg once a week, after we found my levels tanking before my next injection.
You did everything correct besides maybe aspirating. Some doctors say its not needed, some say it is, mine said to do it so I do. After you inject the needle, before pushing in the testosterone, you pull the plunger out a bit to see if you are in a blood vein / vessel. There will be a bubble of air (Good to go) or a little blood (Pull out, try again).
I'm guessing you injected into your Delt just for the video? but to be honest, it can be kinda sore the next few days. It's a small muscle compared to your quad. Hope you the best of luck, from Michigan!

Sucks to do, but I used an 18-20-22 gauge needle. You can always draw with a bigger gauge (18) and then inject with a smaller (22-24). Look up landmarks for injection sites on google as well. I inject into my right and left quadriceps, take a palm and your finger length from your knee cap, roll your hand laterally (to the outside portion of your leg) and that’s a good site. I would avoid the deltoid as it has less muscle mass to distribute/absorb the hormone and oil and could cause tenderness/soreness from repeated injections. A 25gauge needle is very small, you can use a larger needle to withdraw the medicine from the vial. An 18gauge needle is usually used to withdrawal from vials. Then switch to the 25g for your shot. Usually you change any needle you use to withdrawal from vial, it becomes dull in just one use with the vial. A new 25 gauge needle makes for a new and sharper needle for your shot. Much love! ❤️

You need to put the needle into the solution, with the pusher up, then push the air in the needle, into the solution, to increase pressure in the bottle, so when you pull the pusher back up, to extract the solution you don’t create a vacuum.
