- Hooligan Stealthcraft 3-man Driftboat (RAFT) Review!
I've now gone out 100 times in the Hooligan over the last two years and this video is a fun look back of my time on the water. Back in January I did a review from 2019 and this year I wanted to do another and also show some cool clips of taking the Hooligan around on some midwest waters.
Check out Stealthcraft here stealthcraftbo...

The Hooligan is a beast! You have it setup perfect! Looking forward to the next trip on it in 2021! We will be looking to book a date in the future.
@Michael McCoy Thanks, man! I am looking forward to 2021. :)
I have a hooligan XL.
It's a great boat and everyone that has been in it, has really liked it. Super stable and lots of room.
@Outdoor Sports Yeah, I'd like to get the XL some day, but for now the regular is working great!
Great review! I'm right now between this raft and the XL. Truly undecided about which way to go. I want to at times fish skinny water but I like the idea of having even more room when I have 2 other anglers in the boat, which the XL would provide.
@Troutman Outdoors We spoke on Facebook - but, I want to reiterate, the regular does very well with three people. It's at times a bit cramped, but it works well.
Nice review. I had the smaller one for a bit and really liked it. If you get an articulated tiller extension for your trolling motor and move up to the middle spot it'll level out the boat a bit and motor up river better.
@Fly Fish the Mitt Oh, yeah. I know I can do better on the motor game, ha. I use it infrequently at best. Mostly just on the oars!
Did you fish lakes or ponds? How would you think it would handle?
Pulling it up a 30’ bank with a 45 degree incline it felt like 3000 lbs but well worth it. Looking to make plans for next summer.
So true! But the adventure was worth it!
@3 Crone I do agree. That incline was hellacious! But, looking back over the entire summer, that was the prettiest stretch of water I did all year.
@Michael McCoy Heck yeah! The video is coming. I included some of the bits from it in this one. Sooner or later I will have it dropping in! :)
Want to get one of these for a while now
@Two passions fishing Yeah, it's a super nifty little boat.
How does this thing do on lakes and ponds? I usually fish out of a canoe, float and then wade, I like the idea of being able to float and fish. We do a lot of camping and it be nice to be able to stand and fish on the lakes and ponds. I’m not talking about being out in the wind on a lake but maybe some chop, idk.
@S justin It's definitely an upgrade to a canoe. However, it does also grab the wind more than a canoe. It is perfect in a shallow river - however, it does fish alright in ponds and lakes too. The easy anchor system is super nice in flat water. The electric motor works nicely in flat water too.
@@HaightsWanderings do you think you one person could float down a river in one of these (smaller version) and fish while floating?
@S Justin I have fished solo in it. However, it's difficult and hard to maneuver. You cannot functionally fish and float at the same time in this. You can, however, use it to float to spots you want to fish and anchor and fish then in those spots.
hey, if you’re looking to float a new section of water, how do you scout/ check to see if it is even able to be floated? like how do you not run across sketchy rapids?
@Thomas Curry Experience and time on the water - and usually running it first with a kayak or something else that would allow me to scout. I try to never scout with the raft as that would lead to unfortunate situations.
Are you thinking of a small outboard?
@James Dotson I want to keep it electric - I don't think outboards would be anything but gas right? I don't know much about motors to be honest. I just need a little bit more ummph from the motor. She is a bit slow right now.
Nice review, how's the weather up there now haha
@Michael Pruis Well.... I had to break ice to get the Hooligan out yesterday :)
That a guy! I'm hoping the little warm up next week will give me one last shot at a 7+ smallie for the year. Cheers from fargo!
@@Michaelpruis Good luck! That would be an absolute beast of a smallmouth!
There's a little lake up in your neck of the woods I venture to a few times a year that has some probably pushing that in it... I'm sure you know the lake!!
@@Michaelpruis Never heard of it :)
Looking at the Hooligan and the SmithFly Big Shoals. Any thoughts? Thanks.
@Jake D You know, I've never been in the Big Shoals, but I do know the Hooligan. I really enjoy my boat - I think that the big difference between the Big Shoals and the Hooligan is the storage capacity of the Hooligan. I don't think I would be able to guide out of the Big Shoals as I wouldn't have as much of the needed gear storage.
@@HaightsWanderings thank you for the info. The more research I do the more confused I get. Looking for something I can handle myself on the Lower Gunnison River in Colorado and the San Juan in New Mexico. When not alone, have probably one buddy. But, want the ability for 3 total on occasion. If any other recommendations would appreciate.
@Jake D The three main raft makers are Stealthcraft, Flycraft, and SmithFly. Along with the NRS stuff. I really don't know much abut the other brands - I really like my boat, but it is best in skinny water.
@@jaked6474 Which did you go with? I’d also be floating the Gunny not sure to get this one or another brand.
@@russellteee I actually got the Flycraft. Stealth x. Works great. A little narrow on bigger water. 3 is crowded. 2 is perfect
no such thing as a perfect boat...seems like the hooligan does quite a bit pretty well tho....good yooper boat
@Lucky Haskins It's a great Yooper boat for sure!
