Hi! Love this idé! I wonder what I can make the stencils on? You say it need to don't be sticky mat, but I have no clue to what I can use... thanks for the video 😃😊👍🏻
I made glue stencils a couple of years ago (#90, Parts 1 and 2, of the Things Challenge (DWPB100ThingsChallenge) on my channel). I had a lot of fun making those. I think I'll make some more! I had to watch your video because you have such a great sense of humor. Thanks for sharing, Laurel!
OMG Laurel……I’m so in jaw dropping awe right now…..gosh have to say it again you left me in jaw dropping awe!!! Your stencils are spectacular and love how you use them and I so love the Tim Holtz Grunge shabby chic look and your stencils allow this to happen!! your creations are magnificent!! I so can’t wait to try this!! Thanks for your Outstanding Tutorial and sharing your Tremendously Terrific Tips, Tricks & Techniques!! YOU so ROCK!!! Joan Smith
This is quite cool, I made this type of stencil years ago when I was doing mixed media things, but it has been years. While I was watching you, I had a really crazy idea, not sure how it will work but will try it today and let you know. My idea is: you know the little things people get from SSS and other places to set their ink pads on so they don't move all over the desk when you are ink blending... why not use this. I would think it would somewhat stick to a glass surface and then keep your ink pad from slipping. I dunno, I'll let you know if it works. TFS.
Wow…you did it. You actually are using a device I do not have!! That is not easy to do. I’m not ready to go buy a glue gun today but I must say these are really really cool. Since I’ve never had a glue gun I have no concept of how it’s going to work in reality but it does look like you used a lot of glue sticks. Would you estimate like three glue sticks for two stencils or something like that? Laurel… you are fabulous! Another great short video.
👍 You can write words (I have). This leaves a white area instead of dark areas like stamping does. You can create stamps with the glue gun (as seen on a RUclips video). So you can use these as a resist or to use these to add color ! Cool, huh ? 🙋 Nana in se OK usa :-))
Purchasing stencils are expensive. AND I don't necessarily want the same stencils everyone else has. Thank you for sharing this creative idea I loved this demo and I just subscribed to your channel Thank you
Your channel is quite addictive. I paint address numbers and make my own stencils too. Yup. Except I use masking tape to make them waterproof. Then I cut the stencil with a razor. I save tons of money and keep the major profit to reinvest on more to earn more. It's a job but somebody gotta do it. I work for myself. Thank you GOD. and u as well for such great ideas.
Interesting!!! I would of dabbed up the rest of the ink on your mat with blank cardstock too. To use up all the ink. Clever, with gave to try this.thanks for sharing
I tried to do this a long time ago but wasn’t successful because the glue gun was a cheap one. But now, I have a Tim Holtz one, so off I go to create 🥰. Thank you. ⭐️🏆
Laurel, could you tell us exactly what the surface is? I have parchment paper. Did a workshop recently, and the glue gun stencils really stuck to deli paper. Just need specifics about the surface before I try again. Thanks!
Hello Laurel, nice to meet you. I’m a new subscriber. And, so happy I caught this video. I saw a new glue gun at Home Depot yesterday. They had a cordless glue gun (320-380 degrees) I’m dying to use it. I’m also looking to use the spray oxides. I have 20 colors in the stamping pads. I typically use a large makeup brush when using stencils but these are gorgeous!!
Hi Laurel, WOW what an absolute fantastic idea I wouldn’t have thought of that thanks so much for sharing your fab ideas & showing your Beautiful little dog 🐕 What is She or he
Great ideas for blank postcards to send out....plus may I know what kind of dog you have in video what a sweety... mikelle art mom looking for art techniques and knowledge...lol🎨

What a fun idea. I have heaps of glue sticks. You know when you see a great bargain and you buy something, then go home and you already have them? Yep, that's what I did, twice! Will definitely be using this idea soon. Thanks for the great tips.
Sorry Lauren, but this was first shown at least, 20 years ago, maybe longer. I’ve been doing art/craft since the 60’s. So, it isn’t new, but it is still good as a reminder, so that ‘new’ crafters can from the ‘older’ ones. Boop!

It could work. Let us know!
In the past, I made my glue stencils for my gel printing! Great minds think alike, Laurel!
I want to try this and make some mark makers for gel plates. Excellent idea!
Love!! At The Queens Ink in MD they had a bin of them we could use on... gel plates! It never dawned me they’d work as stencils on paper too. Genius.
For sure! Great for adding texture to those plates!

Cool idea! I bet you could do one on plastic or acetate with something underneath you want to trace!
Ohhh I bet! :)
You always amaze me with your ideas! TFS!!
Does anyone make a glue gun that has a "Continuous Flow", because every time I re-pull the trigger it causes clumps!
BTW, it isn’t drying, It is cooling. It was never wet. Hot glue is low melt plastic.
That is ingenious. I love it. I have got to try it. Thanks for sharing

Would flat paper work better unless your wanting humps and dips?

What awesome ideas!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Howdy Laurel, ya made me smile. Also, I haven't done this in years. You've inspired me to make new ones. This was fun - thanks for sharing.
Can you please recommend a good glue gun for this? Thank you.
What a fun diy technique! Love the looks you can get!
Wow this is fantastic!!
Awesome idea, Laurel!
Who would have thought 🤷♀️ cool!! 👍🏻
Brilliant! Love the way you play! Can't wait to try it!
Random and really nice, like that. Thank you. The doggy 💖💖💖
This is a great idea. I can try adding hot glue over designs and create stencils from coloring books etc.
That's a great idea!

Neat project. Thanks.
Awesome! I’m going to use this with my collage cards 💚
Wonderful!
Great Idea ..Thankyou !
So fun ! TFS
Love this!
Do you know of an enamel or fusible glass product (GOLD) that can be full fused in a kiln?
No, sorry! I know nothing about kilns or what can be used in them.
What if you made one and then put it between 2 sheets of craft sheet and then iron it flat so that you could do blending with it?
Great idea!
So cool, love it!
Really cool!
Who knew? Wow! TYFS! 🤓💖💖💖
Cool idea.

This looks like fun! I'm going to make loads of mess with my glue guns and inks tomorrow! Thank you for sharing your cool ideas! Xx
Pretty cool 😎
Do you flatten your stencils? Can you please tell me what glue gun you use! I am deaf and my CC is not working.
I'm looking for a tree line stencil to do on dark t-shirts I noticed that you had a tree line stencil where did you get that
Its very old. Likely from the Crafters Workshop

Yep

Thank you for the video.
Seeing these done with glue guns make me wonder what would happen if someone used a 3D pen.
Oh, how interesting! Go for it!
How cool! Guess ill get to using up some of these 300 glue sticks i have in my stash.
hahahaha
Could I use some sprits of water on my distress inks on my glass mat and put on with make up sponge where I want it?
Absolutely

Really great looks from dried hot glue. Who would'a thunk? Max said he cannot eat that glue stuff.
