Hello! I used the link in your resources to go to the MapMap website to download the software and it doesn't do anything when I click on the link. It won't download. I am on a windows and clicked the windows link. How do I get it to download.
@sergiomendes63 I have 4 videos that I want to appear at 3 specific points on the stage. Each video appears once at 3 points and so on, and I can stop and start each one whenever I want. Is this possible with MapMap?
No definitely not. MapMap is too basic for that. You want something that has sequencing/cueing capabilities. Mapping applications like MadMapper, HeavyM, Resolume can do this (some more intuitive than others...). Qlab is used in theatre which is very strong for cuing and has (basic) mapping features.
Great tutorial. I have a orthographic image of our house made like you described in one of your videos. Can i use that in MapMap and not sure i understand if i should make content for each mesh or just have one big mesh for the whole house. I guess it all depends if there are specific meshes i want different content on right ?
Your life won't be so easy doing it in MapMap. You want to be able to isolate specific meshes so that they get their own mapping (since each surface has a different relationship to the projector's position so needs different warping to compensate for that). The problem in MapMap is that you can't apply masks (as far as I'm aware) or complex input meshes and it's a generally a little unstable. If you haven't already watched this, it might help understanding the steps involved ruclips.net/video/YVgUWpfaRNU/видео.html or part 5 of my orthographic series ruclips.net/video/FWyZyVlJNso/видео.html
Greetings! If I work for my clients. So how would I save and share with them??? Because I have completed my project but no option is showing to export it.
Thanks for your very clear tutorial, also for me as a beginner and just started using mapmap. I have only one question. In VIEW/OUTPUT SCREEN, I can't see my projector, only my pc screen. How can I do it? Thanks (I have a windows pc)
How can you export video from any of these> I bought Lumabox, and Madmapper and have the free mapmap. Not one of them will let me use a house outline, drop in a video, shape it to fit my house, and then export said video. They all want you to "screen capture" it which is just horrible quality. There has to be something I am missing to just simply export the video. Thanks in advance Happy Halloween.
For MadMapper you can only export to another bit of hardware (sold by them) that acts as a media player. MapMap you can't export, you're correct. When you say you bought Lumabox do you mean LumaMap? If so, you can do what you described (import a video, corner pin it, export the video) but only for one video at a time - you cannot build a whole show from multiple elements. Is that what you mean? If you are looking to build a show from individual videos you should be looking more at video editing/animation software, not mapping software. Things like After Effects or DaVinci Resolve, which is free.
Is there a way to connect together videos like the casacade then to pictures then to words to play automatically. I want mine to play at my wedding but don't want to be messing with it. Also how would I save all of those videos together to play. Do you play the content from a laptop connected to the projector at events or do you use wifi? How do you play the content without a big bulky laptop clouding the area? If I can save the content to USB and play it that way that would be best.
You can't automate a show in MapMap but you could string your videos together using video editing software and export out as one long video. You can automate in other projection mapping software. Check out my other tutorials for Resolume or MadMapper. Some software allows you to export your mapped output as a video file which you can play from a usb media player but not all can. Otherwise, yes you need your laptop connected to the projector.
@@LumaBox so if I created a string of video content from like iMovie or something and placed that in MapMap I would be able to play it but it would have to be on a laptop connected to the projector, you can’t play it any other way, correct? Also is there tutorial videos on how to create your own video content to put on the cake so it doesn’t get cut off, etc. I want the Disney version with Cinderella’s carriage going across the layers for example lol
@@katarajvcharternet2 If you don't want the laptop connected you need to somehow export your output AFTER it's been mapped and then play that video file from a media player connected to the laptop. Hi there! Just a quick and probably silly question: how can I select each of the mesh's corners individually to change the shape? In my mapmap project they are always moving together, I cant select an move them around as you do... Thanks for the help, if you can give me a clue on how to unlock them!
I don't think there's a knack to it... you just grab the corner points and move them I think 😅 Maybe your MapMap is misbehaving. It has become very buggy with recent OS updates 😬
I'm stuck at the part where you click output editor layout, it doesn't show my 5tiers cake at the bottom. I have set my display to extend, it shows the laptop projecting but when I click output visibility, the cake wont show like what you did. What am I missing?
The view of the cake is footage I edited in to the tutorial to help the audience see what was happening on the cake in front of me. It's not a feature of the software.
Hi - quick question. Is it possible to use different sized cake tiers and still make your videos work? That is, will the mapping be accurate on 4" inch tiers instead of 5"? We would still use 5 layers, we just need to make the tiers smaller. Thanks!
No sadly :( Either string your video sequence together in a video editing program and save it out as one long video or think about upgrading to a more sophisticated (paid) mapping application.
Hi, I've seen all of your tutorials and they're awesome but I have a question. What if my cake is not of perfect shape like your example? It looks like a castle and I'm not sure if your ready-to-use footages from lumabakery will fit, how do I find out?
This tutorial might help you a little bit ruclips.net/video/y8qF-PA2qO4/видео.html. Also, if your surfaces are irregularly shaped then your input meshes in your mapping software will also need to be more complex than just rectangular boxes. You can do this to some extent in MapMap by increasing the Subdivisions of your meshes and pulling them to fit around your surface. Or, in a more sophisticated mapping application like MadMapper, you could mask out some areas where you don't want content to appear (I do a bit of that in this tutorial ruclips.net/video/1Typv7KxBRM/видео.html). The content I sell in my shop will only work out-of-the-box for surfaces close to the ones I use in my example. Anything else will require some degree of adjustment, but that doesn't mean they won't work with a bit of tweaking.
Good day, trying with MapMap I would like your collaboration if possible: 1) Activate the menu bar again, which by mistake removes it. 2) The most updated version is mapmap-0.6.4-x86-installer? Thank you for your attention

Because I have completed my project but no option is showing to export it.
That's right, there aren't any options to export your mapping in MapMap. You could do a screen recording to show your clients?
Will dis work on all type of cakes?? Lyk whip cream cakes
I won't work well on cakes with very bumpy/irregular surfaces so I wouldn't recommend it for whipped cream
