      @Michael Cass Tru but the rear taillights is what makes the 68 unique. Like how I like the taillights from the 71-72 Chevelles and 70-73 Camaros. Circular taillights look great on old schools.

    I swear every car I see in here whether I like the car or not, they always look brand new. Always. Probably look better than when they were brand new.

    • @ThePaulv12
      @ThePaulv12 3 года назад

      Well the body work is far better than brand new, it's called over restored. It's what the market wants though. It is well known the bodywork, including all the seams and the fit and finish of restored cars is vastly superior to production line vehicles.
      I prefer survivor cars myself, but it's academic because I couldn't afford a resto or a survivor lol.
      If money were no object, I admit I love the attention to detail of a factory look car including all the chalk marks and tags correct OEM clamps, batteries, clips, hoses, emission control pipes etc etc but I would get my body finished with the production line look including crappy production paint. I would. I just bet it would cost MORE than a perfect finish.
      Thing is they then become trailer cars because so much attention to detail, so you look at it in the garage and you've become a speculator in muscle cars - which would make me a pretentious snobby pedant.
      So what do you do? Choices. You could build a 60's muscle car and put it on modern brakes, steering and suspension to make it practical but then you've ripped the character out of the car.
      These cars were often terrible cars in reality, which is why they received not much love back in the day. The way they drove was dreadful - long trips tedious, fatiguing on hot days and terrible cold starting in winter and it would kill the motor driving it any distance with the rpm over a sustained 4000rpm back in the day. The oil would get wrapped around the crank in a vortex, aerating the oil and by the time the hydraulic lifters started rattling the motor was finished. Brief rev ups to 6000rpm and no idling in traffic commuting to work and you might get 50,000miles out of the engine.
      The romance of them was different to the reality. True that!
      This one in the vid is pretty nice and I bet it drives better than it did when it was built.

    back in "69, graduating from college as a 2nd LT from Nebraska ROTC, first post after school to Germany. I bought a new '69 R/T, 440, Torqueflight, power steering, no radio, promptly swapped out the small 14 in F70 tires/wheels for 15 inch mags. Took to Germany, was fast, but I never went over about hundred, as with the 3inch Imperial drums, it would not make a complete stop from even that speed. The Hemi was a $770 option Drove it about 33K and sold it to a trooper who went off the road in it. Mine was dark green, white stripe. Ran it on army quartermaster or ESSO.
    What a great car. Long long ago.

    Freakin outrageous. Beautiful car....... Story...... I'll never forget, Halloween night, 1968, went with my mom, dad and little sis to Mintz motors on Staten island, dad was gonna buy a new b5 blue 383 road runner. They were "on sale" for $2800. I was 12. We get there and mom and the salesman talked my dad out of the runner and into a four door b5 blue satellite 318. I remember seeing a black charger in the showroom, just like this one. I was fuming. Still pissed 54 years later. Mom wanted the four door for convenience. We driving home and get hit in the parking lot at the bank by a old man in a station wagon. Whole driver side scrunched. Car wasn't even 1/2 hour old. Dad told me his payment was something like $68 a month for two and a half years. Or some insanity close to that...... The good old days

    I'm curious what the owner of this business has come across he wouldn't sell. That poor gorgeous auto found at least 2 people to let her go!
