    Very nice explanation. What if there is a carbonyl group or ketone and an aldehyde group, then the priority of naming would be ..? Or Is there a video that explains the priorities of functional groups within IUPAC nomenclature? Thank you.

    Carboxylic acid doesn’t need a formal name such as oxo/formyl because it is always gonna be too priority correct?

      Yes, because that’s the main functional group in the compound.
