I'm not sure if you know the story this movie is based on. This is a modernized version of the story from the 16th century of the Polish nobleman Twardowski, who signed a contract with the devil. The devil was to serve Twardowski in exchange for his soul, but he had to surrender Twardowski's soul within a certain number of days. To deceive the Devil, Twardowski fled to the Moon, because there the day lasts 27 Earth's days. Of course, this story has many versions, but the key one is the contract with the devil for the soul. I recommend watching the first part of this story.
