All brown is more classy.. Stripes look not to nice. More important is putting your window sills on and on the tower, to protect your fabulous extensions.
Hi, I personally would like it better fully stained. As Deivid said the stripes are not even, that doesn't look so good. But you have to like it, it's your home ❤
You guys should be proud of all the hard work you’ve been doing. One suggestion I do have to save yourself even more work later on is to get the lower barn roof covered/water tight before you worry about anything else on the barn, water and ice are the enemy of any building and the longer it’s uncovered the worse the repair will be. Keep up the good work.
If it were my own home, I would stain it all one color. I’d also make sure to stain each piece of wood well so there isn’t any color variation. Lastly I’d put corner pieces on so no water can get behind the boards.
I find that I’m agreeing with many of the other comments . It’s “ cute “ with stripes, but would look better with all the wood stained . And would match the other side of the house . Fill in the gaps with the stain … and then apply the clear coat to seal it in …. But , if YOU decide you like the stripes , I suggest you seal them from the weather . Bottom line, it’s your home and the only ones whose opinion matters is yours & Dessy’s !! Stay warm 😘❤️
I like the two colors. My only suggestion is to stain both the corner boards. Oh, to be in my early twenties again. You two work sooo hard. I’m impressed with all you have achieved. Well done!
The stripes look okay but I think the solid chocolate stain should be done in the cracks for a more rich look. Of course, do what you want! It's your property. :D
It's OK but I think it should be all one color. It's got stripes if that is what you want. To each their own. Good luck, I hope the stain goes over clear, but sometimes it won't work.
I love the painting and 3D effects, thing about rollers, usually wool one have little hairs to get off before painting wrap in sticky tape same with brushes.
I think doing two tones draws attention to any imperfections, like spacing being inconsistent and the dark stain went down further on some boards than others. But as you said if you decide later to go all dark you can. Just my thoughts, see you next time.
The pattern doesn't look bad on the barn; it may well be a short-term, long-term solution for not doing anything to that addition. I stand in awe of people like you that can turn their hand -- usually successfully -- to a variety of building projects. My oldest son is like that as well though I must also say that, like you guys, he rarely seems to finish one renovation project completely before moving on to another. 🙂
I think though it really is your choice and you do what you like. But I would stain it all one colour it would look more finished. You are are both very hard working young people and have achieved so much considering that you have no previous experience! Well done both of you.
For some reason in the last couple of weeks I’m getting very delayed notifications for your main channel🙁 I forgot how cute the dormer was, I personally don’t love the stripes but it’s not my house and a clear coat is reversible anyway☺️ You put a lot of work in it and I’m sure it will look amazing when the guest house is done but for now stay warm and just do what you can to make your place weather tight❤
have ever thought of straw bale and stucco construction to repair the barn it insulated very well and i do not what the price of straw is in your area... it is a thick wall
You guys did such a great job with the dormer but I do feel it looks unfinished. I think if the wood slats were more uniform it may look different. But hey, it’s your barn so you do you.😉😊
I think that once you get the roof finished I think you will have a better idea of how the wood staining is in its present form. You will make the right decision 😃
Looks haphazard and rushed. The gaps between the stained and the unfinished boards are not equal and the stain really makes that stand out, and there are spots where the stain ran down on the edges of the boards. And if you don't seal the unstained boards, not only will they turn gray, they will absorb moisture that will seep into the stained boards because those edges are not sealed either. In other words, what matters most - looks or rot prevention?
It looks shabby but it looks even colder outside. The outside boards that'll weather first are done and once again you've held back the tide. I like stripes.
Your extensions on both the barn+house are amazing but you could staple down all that grey roofing material flapping in the wind but it's just a suggestion you 2 are such hard workers
If the boards were evenly spread apart it might look good, but personally I think the light colored wood makes the unevenly spaced wood stand out in a not-so-good way. In the end, I think you’ll be happier with it fully stained.
If you use a clear coat, it will seal the wood and any other stain is not going to soak into the boards. I appreciate your originality but I would prefer it completely stained. It appears unfinished. Just my opinion.
I think it look lower quality than it is half stained. And I am still concerned about the water and snow to the windows from the side and that openings-in the front planks. Some wood corners would lock the corners of the walls. And the roof would provide a better cover to the building if it was a bit more extended. Also, won't the water, air ect enter from the upper middle window? As I recall it wasn't completely finished.
From the front or diff angles, and depending on New roof, you may or may not like it. Can you maybe stain darker between the grooves later if use clear for now? Ypu could wait to decide later?
The stripes don’t look very nice. It definitely needs to be just 1 color! You worked so hard on the design of the wood and 2 colors takes away from all your hard work. Sorry I always compliment your work but I felt you wouldn’t be happy if I didn’t tell you the truth. God bless you both and enjoy the upcoming holiday.
Leave it like this. It’s your homestead do what pleases you. If you need another project finish the attic and turn it into a crafting and game space for winter. If there was a bathroom you could even put a guest space up there. Also, plenty of storage up there..
Please use the same colour stain, this “zebra” doesn’t look good at all. Plus that lack of finished roof, holes for water and snow to get inside and ruin everything seams like a much more important issue to me.
I thought that you were not working on this because it is an outside project and it was too cold to work on it. Are you going to return the roof sheeting, at least temporarily?
My opinion is, Please stain it all. It looks unfinished, not stylish. Of course it is up to you but, it just seemed like it was too hard to get in the cracks so you decided to not do it. again, it is not my house, so do what makes you happy!
FOCUS, PRIORITIES, PlANNING, OUT OF SEQUENCE - AGAIN!?! The straightforward answer to your question, Dessy is - ugly. Yes Davide, it looks unfinished. But from 10,000 feet, it looks like a piano! 😆 The aesthetic for your homestead yesterday was country rustic - and today it's modern. 🤔Color me confused. Waste of time, materials and energy on your shoestring budget. You would have been better served baking Christmas cookies or putting the bottom roof panels back in place to protect the barn walls and wood from winter weather. Silly decision. Weathered wood stains the same as the wood today - consistently if applied right and to all of the wood at the same time. "Attaching pieces later" is the equivalent of a new car that was painted without drivers side door, right rear passenger door, hood and left rear fender - nothing will match. Would you buy a car like that? What are you thinking?!? As I've told you too many times before, you paint when EVERYTHING is complete. otherwise, it's butchery. Come on Sycophant Karens bring it on! 😘✅
David You paint super well and it looks nice. A tip when painting facades is a facade brush, and for large surfaces you can use paint sprayers for facades. As you have a compressor. When you roll paint on a facade, the paint does not penetrate the wooden poles very well 🏆🏅🎄

All brown would look much better in my opinion! 🙂🍍
Your next investment definitely needs to be a paint sprayer!
Great suggestion! You two are awesome!! 💕

I would be more concerned about the large missing sections of your roof than staining the wood.
I think doing two tones draws attention to any imperfections, like spacing being inconsistent and the dark stain went down further on some boards than others. But as you said if you decide later to go all dark you can. Just my thoughts, see you next time.

Stain the gaps!!!!!!! It doesn’t look finished.. the gaps are not even…
It would look much nicer if you stain it all the same. It doesn't look very nice striped.
I believe I would have Staind it all one color and I also think that spraying it would have been faster,
I think though it really is your choice and you do what you like. But I would stain it all one colour it would look more finished. You are are both very hard working young people and have achieved so much considering that you have no previous experience! Well done both of you.

You need to stain the whole thing as it shows the inconsistencies of the spacing of the boards.
Looks great. Looks like a cabin, you kids should make it look the way YOU LIKE BEST. Happy Holidays 🎄🎉🥂
It looks shabby but it looks even colder outside. The outside boards that'll weather first are done and once again you've held back the tide. I like stripes.
Hey! At 4 minutes when you stood back to look at your stain colour, it looked to be exactly parallel to and part of the roofing lines! Pretty cool!
Definitely one color
I would go with solid brown. I think the two tone gives it an unfinished look. BTW we love your channel. You feel like family to us.
Your extensions on both the barn+house are amazing but you could staple down all that grey roofing material flapping in the wind but it's just a suggestion you 2 are such hard workers

If you're doing it for reasons of protecting it from the weather, you should stain the cracks
It looks ok, sometimes things look different on camera than in person. Glad you got the inside of your house warmer for the winter. 😊
You worked hard to get finished and your build looks great what other color would y’all do different??
I think staining the entire thing would look better. You guys are such hard workers!
You guys have done a lot rebuilding this year , looking great an homey 👍👍❤✌🙏😁 💪
If you use a clear coat, it will seal the wood and any other stain is not going to soak into the boards. I appreciate your originality but I would prefer it completely stained. It appears unfinished. Just my opinion.
Love seeing you get a bunch of projects completed. Well done.
You do what you can .. Well done in all you do ! Merry Christmas !

Stain it all. It looked alright two tone on sides but at the front do not like.
That color will look nice with the red roof to come layer❤
I think it would look nicer all stained the same. Then it will be consistent with your extension tower. Love the stain colour!
From the front or diff angles, and depending on New roof, you may or may not like it. Can you maybe stain darker between the grooves later if use clear for now? Ypu could wait to decide later?
It looks very unfinished stain the bare boards!
Regardless of what I or anyone else thinks it’s your addition, so your opinion is the only one that matters. Plain and simple. ❤️
I like the idea of contrast, if you can paint in inside between the boards with a darker color.
I think it would be better looking all brown
It looks unfinished but I trust the process.
One color looks best. Stripes fights with roof and stucco on house.
I love the contrast. Looks like buildings where i live in US.👍👍👌❤️
Totes yr choice but as you asked, I think one colour looks a little more refined as the gaps are different. That disappears if all one colour.
You Should look into maybe getting a paint sprayer to cut down on time it takes you to paint. You do ALOT of painting. Would be a good tool for sure!
As an idea I like the stripes. Not so much in real life though. Sorry 🙁
Solid
No sorry guys. It does not look good.
Hallo, also ich finde diese Alternative kontrastreich. Wenn du noch mit Klarlasur rübergehst sind auch die unteren Bretter geschützt. Tolle Idee!
Leave it like this. It’s your homestead do what pleases you. If you need another project finish the attic and turn it into a crafting and game space for winter. If there was a bathroom you could even put a guest space up there. Also, plenty of storage up there..
Depressing dark
Brown
Do you have a paint sprayer?
Once again, why do you care so much about what other people think of your choices? In the end, it's you two guys who have to live with it!
@@Marcus_Aurelius_1978 it generates comments. Comments help the algorithm.

I like the stripes it stands out ❤
Stain all of it or the grey will make it not look good.
I like the sides stripes
I like solid but your house your call
Kit Kat 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love your sense of humour!!!
Good thing to get finished.
Looking good, your choices always do.
The stripes actually match the ripples on the roof that's why it blends just fine
Love to see the neighbors dog
It looks like a log home. So it’s your personal decision 💙
i like the striped effect.
❤❤❤
I thought that you were not working on this because it is an outside project and it was too cold to work on it.
Are you going to return the roof sheeting, at least temporarily?
Like it.🎉depends what you 2 like.reminds of log cabin with chinging.
A LOT of hard work. For sure.
תודה ❤❤❤
one colour looks better
The stripes remind me of a circus. All solid brown would look more high end.
I think a deep red stain, not paint, would look good. Match your bricks.
Your going to have guests above an old stinky unfinished barn?
I think it looks like a jailhouse. Or, maybe the house is for sale and that is a barcode to be scanned at the cash register?
I say Staind it all. Some parts look darker than the others
It reminds me a bit of some Medieval housing.
My opinion is,
Please stain it all. It looks unfinished, not stylish. Of course it is up to you but, it just seemed like it was too hard to get in the cracks so you decided to not do it. again, it is not my house, so do what makes you happy!

ALWAYS GOOD JOB 🎉PERFECTE
Making it all brown with the window frame a different color. Are you going to put a window ledge on? Just do what you like.
Not that keen but if yous like it go for it

Red stain between, not clear. 👍💖
I vote for all brown
its too busy. imo. but if it makes you happy......
Great job,do what you like!❤️🥰🇨🇦
That word is unfamiliar to me -- sounds like IMPROGATOR. (The stainer you used.) Is that the word? What does it mean?
