Nah 4 summers??? More like 2 decades...I still listen to Boot Camp Click! Duck Down! Smiff & Wesson! OGC! Helta Skelta! Bucktownnn home of the original gun clappaz! 🎯
SEAN Peeeeeeeeeeee!!!! That magnum force Album was everything. I'm a guy that knows voices so people not knowing it was him is bizarre. His voice was so distinctive.
I Tear down....any opponent who simulate. Styles Buck wild, meanwhile your @ss I Obliterate. Demonstrate...tactics you need practice. First of all your Monkey @ss rhyme like ya backwards! The beat over them bars was stone cold Nasty!
Amazing interview. Enta Da Stage is always in rotation. I grew up listening to Black Moon and BCC. Smif n Wessun, (Tek n Steele) OGC, Heltah Skeltuh (Ruck n Rock). When we called people underground and not selling out, this is what that meant to me. Independent thinkers expressed through art. Buck is a GOAT because I always remembered he was the first independent artist that put his team on. I’m always going to support them 💯 edit: Please add any promotion materials, I need that Supreme Hoodie.
I was in high school...starting my senior year (class of 1993) - that fall of '92...I had my Walkman on thru the day and classes. My "who got da props" single bumping (B-side had "6 Feet Deep"). Then when the album dropped!!!!! OMG! IT WAS ON!
Everyone has their favorites but Rockness Monsta was always my favorite. I got love for Sean Price (rest in peace) but Rockness Monsta was always my guy. But Sean does have some classic Hip Hop verses.
The rebrand started with Marc Ecko..designed album covers..Sean P..Buckshot & 9th..plus Smiff and Wesson..Ghost taking Sean out on tour for Fishscale to promote Monkey Barz..the timing was immaculate..plus they Dru and Buck were thriving off Skyzoo…Sean P’s cut the dreads..got focused way more and ripped everything he touched!!!💯💯💯
I remember back in 2007…. When Sean dropped Jesus Price Superstar… He was set to perform at a small club in Miami, wynwood area…. I was introduced to him by a mutual friend…. Prior to his performance, we were all backstage chillin…. The promoter came back there to ask if he was ready…. Sean said yeah I’m ready… Before he went on stage, I noticed there was barely anyone there in attendance… I asked him, you sure you wanna rock? There’s only about 5 ppl here! He took a quick look at me and said, whether it’s 5 ppl or thousands of people…. I will always perform the same way….. A man of his word, dude got on stage and killed that shit…. He was performing as if the club was packed…. I couldn’t believe it….. Sean is a class act….. I am grateful for the opportunity to meet him in person…..
Sean P didn’t just save Duck down but he save hip hop from 2005-2015 😢😢😢 miss you big homie I remember one time he did a show in Miami and I have the honor to buy him a Heineken and share a beer with my favorite rapper. That was unbelievable moment for me I will never forget.
I’ll never forget going to the studio with Sean Price and he was like yo Twin watch how it feel like I cheated, I’m like what? We get to the studio, he picks a random beat, opens his phone, we smoke a blunt, he go in the booth, and come out with a banger! I’m like yo you cheated😂😂😂
Ruck was the 1st rapper I met in person fresh out high school. My man SB and Isaac was like we got a surprise for you and the homies. SB drove a rundown 90s Honda civic, and big ass tall Sean was sitting right in the front. Humble. Love that man 4ever!!! R.I.P.
Aren't they owned by Clear Channel? That oligarchy takeover in the late '90s affected radio stations around the country. That's when all playlists became the same.
@@KtotheG you’re on the money with that. The “Telecommunications Act of ’96” changed the game for the worse. It gave corporations more power by allowing them to take over and monopolize media companies. Before that there were restrictions that tied their hands to how much they could own and that allowed more independent studios and labels to partake in putting out stuff over the airways. It’s why it wasn’t unusual to see acts from independent labels being played on BET and MTV alongside the major labels. After that act was passed, you started seeing the major companies taking over news corporations, movie studios, and a bunch of tv and radio stations (in which many were independent) all over the country. They’re the reason radio went from sounding tailored to different markets all over the country to it all being homogenized to where no matter what part of the country you go it all sounds the same. It’s why radio no longer plays local artists from around the way unless that local artist is a major mainstream act who happens to be from that particular city. Anyone who’s old enough to remember tv and radio before and after the Telecommunications Act knows how watered down (and degrading) the news, radio, movies, and shows had gotten over the years after said act was implemented.
Yep they told Ghost and the 👐🏾kick rocks too... But hey we never needed the radio when you got tapes, then CD now digital to listen to your fav playlists... Fuq Hot 97 boi
You have to thank Brownsville, because BCC is comprised of ENY guys I grew up around, also check out Ruck brother Van Dyke Mike aka Stuck B FOH, these brothers still got it. Great Interview
I think when that the Justice League production came into play as well it helped the resurgence. The Buckshot and 9th Wonder Chemistry and Sean Price Monkey Bars led the way.
So many good 90s rappers couldn’t pick up the pieces and just start banging out great music alone after their deals fell they waited way too long . P just kept banging them out and they hit hard .
OGC, Bootcamp Click, Cocoa Brovaz, Smif-N-Wessun, Tek-N-Steele, Duck Down, Magnum Force, Heltah Skeltah...man what a fckn time to be born and raised in Brooklyn

RIP Sean Price he lived right up the block from me in Brownsville, off Saratoga ave on east 98th st. He took me under his wing I was a teenager hustling but I was nice at rapping. I remember I spit a rhyme for him and ruck was surprised he thought I would be trash but to his surprise I was nice. From that point on I was with him in the studio, at his crib writing ✍️ smoking hella weed 😂😂😂. I remember he gave me tickets to his show at manhattan center backstage passes. I met buckshot, smith & Wesson, MOP, pharaoh Monch, gangstar (guru), the roots etc… talk about memories… I remember when I was selling ounces of haze when haze was popular. Ruck would come to my crib and by the entire QP good good times rest well Big brother LOVE BROWNSVILLE
