Reese is an undersized power forward. You generally do not play THROGH a power forward. Even Anthony Davis has problems getting the ball sometimes. But the more she gets skilled at finishing, the better off for the guards, who have to score, score, score to stay in the game.
Watching the last few minutes of the game - I saw Aja Wilson do her best Angel Reese impression missing point blank layups, getting her own rebound, and repeating 3 times. Then Kelsey Plum also attempted her version of a Reese impression in driving to the basket, forgetting how to dribble or jump - losing complete control of her motor functions and throw up some absolute bullshit of an underhanded hook shot that doesn’t even hit rim 😅😅😅😅😅😅

This game was all Carter and Camilla and simply down to the fact that for some reason Plum couldn’t buy a bucket for the life of her and the aces for some reason was coming up injury after injury…they all kept hurting their ankles from Kate, limping down the court for Chelsea Grey, even this game was all Jackie, Aja and their Bench of not for them it would have been a blowout… This is why the sky would have been better off not making angels double double a thing because focusing on that they ended up cutting Camilla’s minutes when she should have been playing more and been in the paint to help with the clean up. Only thing though is that Angel moves completely slow on the court, she was walking up and down the court at times which I didn’t understand and for sure this team is all about Carter…she is the ⭐️
I agree about the slowness. I like Angel Reese, and I think she’s good under the rim rebounding, but watching the game she just looks like she gives minimum effort at times. She barely jogs the floor even when they’re pressing. I love Cardoso and I feel like she gives more effort consistently.

Carter went in for help defense and ended up in that position. She wasn’t assaulted or elbowed. Clark shoved Vanloo as she was consistently bear hugging her on defense. Vanloo was not defenseless and she was the one initiating contact. On the Lynx game, Clark’s defender was once again holding onto Clark’s arm after getting crossed over. Clark flailed her arm to try and get the defender’s hands off. The hit to the face was unintentional- but once again - the defender initiated contact. It would really help if you watched the entirety of the play instead of the 3 second clips to understand context.
I enjoyed every minute of that game. Even though I was rooting against the Sky the whole time. I’d rather watch a battle like this than most of the “ugly ball” games that I usually watch. It was entertaining and I’ll leave it at that.

I'm gonna be totally honest here, as awesome as Carter's performance is, this will not continue... Carter completely wore herself out going against the Aces, and on one of the worst nights of the Aces's career this year (Plum being terrible, Martin getting hurt, half the team playing like crap). They subbed her out b/c she was exhausted from trying to do everything herself. No one can maintain that pace by themselves without completely burning out. Part of why the Aces are so dominant is that they know how to move the ball to confuse and wear out defenders... This is not a winning formula for the Sky.

That’s why this stat is very deceiving. Guards who guard on the perimeter usually have a worse +/- than someone in the paint. It’s so misleading and was never used much until recently for some weird reason. Guards will get blown by more by nature. It has more to do with that than if the team does better with her on or off.
+/- is a useless stat for single games. Look at Luka, the Mavs bench players have better +/- in quite a few games yet the team went nowhere without him. I always laugh when people bring it up. My favourite example is the 1995 season where friggin Clyde Drexler had better +/- than Hakeem Olajuwon his own team mate despite Hakeem being the clear cut best player on the team. To me the stat is a joke.

Fyi Sky have not loss any game by 20 plus. CC is playing with another number 1 and 2 number 2 picks and has broken the all time turnover record with 15 games to go. Shoots under 40% and 30% from 3. Rebounds equal and extra possession while turnovers equal a lost possession. Reese is going to set the all time rebounds record the all time offensive rebounds record and the most 2nd chance points ever. Reese is playing with 0 number 1 or 2 picks and her best teamate wasn't even in the league before the Sky picked her up. Reese is the only all star while CC has 2 all stars 1 number 1 pick and 1 number 1 pick. In any metric Reese is far ahead the race. But we know stats are being truly deserving don't always matter when it comes to these awards.

She is facing every team's best defensive effort and has a coach that keeps shifting line ups and player rotations. Reese is a good player but she is not her team's primary ball handler or engine to her team's offense. Reese also takes shots much closer to the basket than CC yet only shoots a few percentage points higher or the same as CC from the field. The presence of Cardoso in the paint also helps Reese. This is why the sky would have been better off not making angels double double a thing because focusing on that they ended up cutting Camilla’s minutes when she should have been playing more and been in the paint to help with the clean up. Only thing though is that Angel moves completely slow on the court, she was walking up and down the court at times which I didn’t understand and for sure this team is all about Carter…she is the ⭐️
I agree about the slowness. I like Angel Reese, and I think she’s good under the rim rebounding, but watching the game she just looks like she gives minimum effort at times. She barely jogs the floor even when they’re pressing. I love Cardoso and I feel like she gives more effort consistently.

Carter was catching her because the other sky player hooked onto Clark when she went home for a shot. Clark was fouled and not initiating contact. Carter went in for help defense and ended up in that position. She wasn’t assaulted or elbowed.
Clark shoved Vanloo as she was consistently bear hugging her on defense. Vanloo was not defenseless and she was the one initiating contact.
On the Lynx game, Clark’s defender was once again holding onto Clark’s arm after getting crossed over. Clark flailed her arm to try and get the defender’s hands off. The hit to the face was unintentional- but once again - the defender initiated contact.
It would really help if you watched the entirety of the play instead of the 3 second clips to understand context.
I enjoyed every minute of that game. Even though I was rooting against the Sky the whole time. I’d rather watch a battle like this than most of the “ugly ball” games that I usually watch. It was entertaining and I’ll leave it at that.

They subbed her out b/c she was exhausted from trying to do everything herself. No one can maintain that pace by themselves without completely burning out. Part of why the Aces are so dominant is that they know how to move the ball to confuse and wear out defenders...

That’s why this stat is very deceiving. Guards who guard on the perimeter usually have a worse +/- than someone in the paint. It’s so misleading and was never used much until recently for some weird reason. Guards will get blown by more by nature. It has more to do with that than if the team does better with her on or off.
+/- is a useless stat for single games. Look at Luka, the Mavs bench players have better +/- in quite a few games yet the team went nowhere without him. I always laugh when people bring it up.
My favourite example is the 1995 season where friggin Clyde Drexler had better +/- than Hakeem Olajuwon his own team mate despite Hakeem being the clear cut best player on the team. To me the stat is a joke.
