I'm not sure why I can't comment today, but everything you did here is so YOU! Although it is not me (I love cherry wood), the prints at the back and thrifted items surely make you happy when you look at them. I am considering a paper backdrop for my china cabinet and watching you decorate sparks new ideas for my own home.
I love cherry wood. The green looks good too but cherry wood is one of my favorite colours. I m very into warm tones
I can never understand it when people tell you what they don't like! No one is going to like absolutely everything you do. I watch you because I enjoy your personality, imagination and tutelage. 😊
Well, when someone says “what do you think?” That is usually a good indication that they would like your opinion.
She asked
I have always liked everything she's done!! Of course, we all have our favorites or may think, "That's just not my style" but Sherrie's creative genius!!
Absolutely NOT a mistake! You gave this cabinet a new life. I chuckled when I saw all those clocks at the thrift store. They must have known you were coming!
Yeah it's a mistake it's ugly
Painting the cabinet was definitely not a mistake. Beautiful job❤
Not a mistake. Beautiful work And the whole display well done. I love thrifting and creating beauty with other people’s cast offs. “Sidewalk shopping” is my favorite! I love your videos and enthusiasm.
I didn't even have to wait 'til the end to know that whatever you did to the cabinet would be the right choice. I wasn't wrong. So pretty in green.😊
This is lovely! We have my mother-in-law's bedroom set that is a very similar style to this hutch and is cherrywood. I've been wanting to do something different with it but didn't want to deal with refinishing it but thought painting it would be sacrilege! You've changed my mind :)
The cabinet now has its own personality! ❤
The green is a lovely color, however, I love my cherry wood traditional furniture as it goes with the style of our home. It is ok that we all like different things. I think a pop of colored furniture adds interest.
Although I love the warmth of wooden furniture, it's not always to everyone's taste. I'm always surprised how much I like painted furniture, and you're one of the best at it! Love the staging on this one, and the inspired use of the C&I prints inside. Bravo!
Hello Sherry! Painting any item made of Cherry is always the answer. I've never liked Cherry wood furniture, even when it was popular. I never doubt your decisions, you have not disappointed me yet. The cabinet and all your chosen items are beautiful. Thanks for sharing your talent and inspiration with us. I'm already looking forward to your next video 😊. Oh, I like mixing knobs and handles
Same here, not a fan of cherry.
Sherry, I don't know why, but I feel that using a strip of black paper or velvet ribbon between the Currier & Ives print would make them pop. One vertical piece, two horizontal pieces. The cabinet looks fab in green!😊💚💚💚
Oh, Vicki, I like that idea. Look for me to add some black ribbon in an upcoming video! Thanks for the tip!
@@CanterburyCottage I hope it works out.😊
Fantastic idea!
I was thinking the same thing about it needing something like that but I would not have thought of velvet ribbon, great idea!
Creepy animal might be a type of tarsier.
Even antique wood pieces that are available just about everywhere should be fine to paint otherwise going to the dump! Your transformation is just magical to me! I know it was hard work and time consuming and the video makes it look easy! Thank you for inspiring us! Love and blessed days!
Wonderful transformation. One fav for me was the drive past the corn fields. Lovely part of America!
Lovely transformation of the cabinet. You are so fortunate to be given such a gift from your neighbors! They knew you would make it stunning and you definitely did. Great video as always!
This looks so much better painted. It was beautiful, but now it has a unique charm. Those thrifted items look great, too. Your videos are always the highlight of my Mondays.
I honestly think your makeover looks more high-end than the original cabinet. You always amaze me.😊😊❤❤
Painting older pieces to give them new life, is definitely much better than trashing them. Love that green! You did the cabinet a big favor❣️
I love the cabinet painted. I’m not usually a green fan but I really like that color of green on and your decorations that you used. It’s very cozy looking. ❤
I never have an issue of someone chooses to paint a wood piece of furniture.
It is your piece of furniture to paint no one else’s. I love the way your cabinet turned out!!!!
I have an old secretary that the door used to have a curved glass, which is no longer there. I mentioned to a friend about wanting to paint it. She said, You can’t paint that wood! I said, actually, I can, and can do it very easily.
I really like Currier and Ives so naturally I definitely like what you’ve done with that beautiful cabinet. ❤❤
It’s terrific. ❤❤
Beautiful work as usual Sherry! I enjoy your comments as you're shopping and giggled about the "creepy" weasel. Then was surprised, as you decorated your new cabinet with dead pheasant feathers. You slay me! The cabinet hardware worked well together, even with the difference in time periods. Keep being you!😁
I love the fact that you painted it!! It is a perfect color for the style of the piece.❤
Thank you! 😊 I do love nice natural or stained wood, just not this time!
TY🥰for all your inspiration. No mistaking painting the cabinet gave it a new beautiful life🥰⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I have the Fritz and Floyd trinket dish! LOL
Great job!
Okay Sherry, spill the shop locations! I need a road trip!
These are the two second-hand shops on Hwy 34 in Wyanet, Illinois. They are next door to each other (sharing a wall) and are run by a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law team. Incredibly nice folks, and they even have a third location in Princeton, Illinois.
@judylarsen5067 thank you Judy!
the part I liked the best? You in that pretty dress using the power drill to get the doors on! It made me smile.
To be completely honest, I think it look WAY better painted. But you already knew that ❤
Definitely not a mistake! Everything you create is stunning.
The cabinet looks much better painted 😊
Yay! Thank you! 😊
Hi Sherry! I think the cabinet is beautiful! Painting it was just the ticket. I love the calendar pictures you used, they worked out perfect to complete the look. I love it. Looking forward to part two.
❤️💜💚
Sherry, the cabinet is lovely. Really beautiful done. You have such a gift. So enjoyed watching.
The green paint was an excellent choice! And I love the little green clock ‘frame’ inside. And everything else!
As always I adore your latest project. Thank you for bringing us with you on this flip.💖
You are so welcome! I’m so glad you enjoyed today’s video! 😊
though not a fan of green- this really is beautiful. Great job and no regrets with painting the furniture. I am a DIY'er that is 68 years old. Every day I learn something new and always will.
Another lovely project. I'll bet when first time guests come to your home, they are mesmerized by all of your well thought out vignettes! My favorite is still the one in your hallway with the dark academia theme. Thank you for sharing and inspiring us!
As a fellow vintage lady (I am 60), I love Ritual vitamins! I have been taking them for a year now and what a difference in my energy and health! My dr even gave her stamp of approval after seeing my bloodwork this year! I just found your channel via my recommended and I am so thrilled to see someone of my generation representing all the creativity and ideas that I love! You are also an amazing teacher with such clear instructions on how to bring your ideas to life and make them easily accessible! I am currently remodeling my home and have started binging your videos for further inspiration as we have very similar tastes! You have given me the boost of inspiration I needed to push through these construction phases to get to the “make it pretty” stages I am looking forward to! Thank you so much for defying the “younger influencer” mold and giving us the representation we need! I will be sharing your channel!!
Edit: I am also in Illinois!!! Please share your thrift store locations if you can!
I'm usually of the mind that good wood should be shown and not hidden behind paint, but sometimes painting a piece of furniture really shows off the beautiful shape of it. That beautiful wood is still underneath if you ever decide to go back to staining it. I love this piece and how you've finished and dressed it! I too have been drawn to the greens this year, normally I love me some dark orange! When people ask me what my favourite colour is, I usually respond with "Autumn!" lol ~Chris
Yes, paint the cherry away! I'm loving the green as well. The cabinet is beautiful. You made it your own, and it looks like it has always been there. I love seeing the countryside too. I'm from Indiana, so it's the same. 😊
Thanks, Joan-my Hoosier neighbor. There were so many pretty wildflowers along the road, but for some reason they didn’t show up in the video.
I love it. I am just so happy to see an old piece repurposed and with new life for someone else. Thanks for sharing.
Oh, my gosh.
You're absolutely right, no matter what you do it's.
Turns out beautiful.
Love the cabinet painted. That green color really complimented the C&Ives prints and all the thrifted finds. Love the look!
My goodness you always amazed me with your projects, love the way the cabinet turned out. TFS🌹🌹👏👏👍👍
WOW Sherry that cabinet looks stunning and I love that green paint. Putting those old calendar pictures at the back is an awesome idea, as was filling the cabinet with thrifting finds, it all looks AMAZING!!!!
Good afternoon, Sherry! What an exciting installment! Can't wait to see the transformation. ❤, Bobbie. xo P.S. What a beautiful transformation! I love the green paint, and the C & I prints as the background. All of your thrift finds look right at home on the shelves. Your neighbors were so kind to give you that lovely cabinet. ❤
Good afternoon, Bobbie! I think most people would have tried to sell that cabinet. When they offered it to me, I asked more than once if they were sure they didn’t want to keep it and if it was okay if I painted it. I didn’t want them seeing it painted and think that I had ruined it!
@@CanterburyCottage It now looks so beautiful, they may want it back, ha, ha. Well done, Sherry! As usual, your creativity shinned :)
What an absolutely stunning piece. I love the fact that the shelves are glass so the light illuminates the entire interior. Well done👏👏👏
The cabinet is now “one of a kind”.
Oh, thank you, Pam! 😊
Great idea! Great color choice. You hardly ever make a mistake, Sherry.
Love the paint color! It looks FABULOUS with all the thrifted treasures!
This was definitely NOT a mistake Sherry, it's beautiful, just like everything else you create or decorate. Thank You for teaching ❤️
I like the cabinet color. It fits well with your decor. Your dress is cute, too.😊
Oh, thank you so much, Linda! You’re so sweet!
I lived in Illinois for 40 years. I came to love the open sky and corn/bean fields!! Illinois is a lovely state but I'm glad we left!! We are in Georgia now and we love it!! You always do such lovely work on everything you do!!💕
Thank you, Katley! I lived in the Phoenix area for five years in my early 20’s. The cactus and mountains are definitely a different kind of beautiful, but it never felt like home.
Oh my goodness!! Most uniquely beautiful cabinet I’ve seen in a very long time! You had me at green but then you really had me at the Currier and Ives prints. Everything else that followed was exactly the same. I would lose hours by standing and staring at this beauty and its treasures!!
my husband would've had a fit watching you paint that cabinet, but i love the fresh feel your paint gave this piece.
Someday a refinisher will get this cabinet and say oh my goodness. What on Earth did this person do? Why did they paint this?
Although I loved the original wood Sherry, I was pretty sure I'd love your makeover. And I did. It is absolutely gorgeous! And beautifully styled, of course. 😊 I think you definitely achieved your end.
One of your better makeovers! The paint and prints totally transformed it. Timeless appeal.
Oh, thank you, Teresa!
I love, love, love the makeover. The mixed knobs were great.
I love the end result! The color and the Courier and Ives prints with all of the thrifted items came together beautifully. And the wallpaper on the drawer sides is a lovely surprise. I could go on but suffice it to say, it is gorgeous!!
❤❤ EVERYTHING you do is an amazing classic success!!! Great job!!!!👏
This is so beautiful , the best part is it’s like going to a museum with fine old beautiful things.
It's a cabinet that looks almost exactly like my dining room cabinet. We did buy it in the 90s second gand. You are spot on for the age of the piece. I have been wanting to do something with mine, too, but was scared away from the mirrors on the back and the glass shelves. It looks fabulous painted. Thanks for the inspiration.
Hi Sherry, you created a wonderful cabinet from garbage!! Kudos to you for using your imagination and elbow grease. Looks lovely!!
The cabinet is amazing! That olive green is warm and beautiful.
My husband will roll his eyes when I tell him I want to paint the curio cabinets on either side of the fireplace, lol. Thanks for the inspiration.
The cabinet looks beautiful. I’m glad you put the shelves on the levels where the pictures meet horizontally. Your styling is perfect as always.
I love the cabinet painted and the variety of knobs
The cabinet is absolutely stunning in the olive green, much, much prettier than it was. The styling turned out beautifully as well!
You never fail to impress with your transformations and I think this cabinet is no exception as well as the styling. Great job!
it looks beautiful. painting that cabinet was the best to happen to it, other than giving it to you. I never throw away old hardware and small furniture legs. wonderful job.
I love this cabinet, it’s beautiful. I love most everything you do. Thank you for always giving great ideas and being an inspiration. 😊❤️
I wish you lived near me. I have a china cabinet that I would love to do.everything you touch turns into gold. It turned out beautiful. Blessings
I would love to help you with your cabinet, but you can do it! If it feels overwhelming, just paint it in place and leave the doors on. It will still turn out lovely, but it won’t take as long.
That color green on the cabinet is so rich looking, I love it. When I saw that wallpaper, I thought that would have been better than the prints. I’m just not feeling it. And the knobs were perfect, great proportion with two sizes. Beautiful cabinet, love the old stuff.
Thanks so much! I did love that wallpaper, but I just wanted to try something different that people might not have thought of doing.
Mixing knobs is fantastic as long as the styles don't clash too much! I think this thing now looks FANTASTIC! I used to be a dark-wood lover LONG ago, but I really like the freshness of the paint colors of today.
Stunning transformation! Love the way you used the Currier and Ives prints. That color, styling, the artistry…all perfection. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hey, Sherry. Since the cabinet wasn't an antique , I think painting it was fine. Love all the thrifted finds.
The cabinet looks so much better now. I love how you painted it and styled it. 😊
Wow! The cabinet looks beautiful!
it was most definitely not a mistake!!! lovely! The ONLY thing I think is missing is maybe some small flat pieces of wood that run sort of like picture frame around each of the prints and around the outside of the prints to mimic window panes. I think the prints would look more finished and intentional but they look good as they are, as well! I used to live in that area of Illinois...it is very pretty!
Gorgeous. No mistake here! Love everything you collated for the display. How satisfying to basically complete this over a few days.
Painting the cabnet was a great choice and all the thrift finds made it perfect.
LOVE the wallpapered sides of the drawers and the two styles of knobs!! ❤❣️😉
I really like the way you painted and restyled the cabinet! Thanks for another terrific transformation!
Hello Sherry, I think painting the cabinet was a wonderful idea. The way you decorated it once more shows your wonderful imagination. I love the way you can look at things you have and know what will go together. Thank you for your time and talent.
I think it looks amazing, I'm glad you painted it.
❤😂 cabinet turned out beautiful but when you put the bowl, vase, pictures , and all of those fabulous things in it it turns into a stunning feast for the eyes . I would love to spend hours just looking at all the treasures!😮❤
Everything is perfect. The color, the handles and the decor. I understand to each his own, but I would be proud to own this cabinet.
Looks so good! Love it 😍.
Thank you, Misty! 😋
This cabinet is absolutely beautiful !
The paint color is exquisite !
(❣️ 🦅🦋🍃)
Exemplary! Colour perfect!
Thank you, Tina! 😊
I love how the cabinet turned out the olive green was a beautiful choice. ❤😊
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful. Well done. Every thing is so nice.
Perfect, Sherry! Absolutely stunning. The items placed inside are exactly what the cabinet was calling for. The little pulls on the drawer front are just right. I do love a mixture of hardware & your choice was tasteful & lovely. I wasn't sure about the "wallpaper", but I have learned to ride along with you until the end. So lovely. xo
I think that the changes you have done make this display extremely classy!!! ❤ Love it
You never disappoint! You made a dated cabinet look better than ever! I love that it could be changed out with the seasons? Or just when you feel like it! It is gorgeous!
I really like the color you painted the cabinet as well as the hardware. I can’t get past the Currier and Ives calendar pages (which I love on their own) as a background - it’s just too busy for my taste.
Just beautiful! I live your channel! Thank you for sharing!
Love the colour and how it looks. Thanks for sharing. Loved how you decorated 5he shelves. Xx
Thanks so much! 😊
Oh Sherry, I love it! So much depth and character! I love how all your creations are totally original and not a cookie cutter look!!!
Thank you so much, Bren! I really appreciate that comment!😊
Loved your transformation ❤
Thank you for teaching!
Chef’s kiss on the styling of the cabinet - would never think to use the photos as “wallpaper” but it’s brilliant!
Oh, thank you, Kiki(?)!
Always look forward to your videos. You are so talented. You truly are one of my favorite RUclipsrs ❤
Not only that thrit stores are over whelmed with furniture, I would put this in my house and enjoy it 😊❤ nice job.
