If your gonna do a QR just use the QR25, Look around for some older Infinity Q20’s. They have SR20 in them. There was a complete car in the salvage yard by me.
I had a butterfly screw come out on me and had to have my Head rebuilt! it was from the 2002 spec V! Went to pass a semi and at 5K i felt a jerk and then later found the screw was missing. used Lock tite on the them and let nissan know.
Will removal of the catalyst in the manifold throw an error code? I have a frontier with this engine that has a rediculous intake system, any ideas how to get rid of it? It is as big as the engine
Yes it will throw a code. If you go to Facebook and look up the B15 Sentra group there are several write ups and how to remove the cat and keep the check engine light off.
@@chrisbuildsitall any ideas on getting rid of the monstrosity of an intake system on a frontier? Look it up, your Jaw will hit the floor lol. I would use a sentra intake but the inlet will be against the firewall. Short of welding something up, I don't know what to do.
From what I see, I would build one out of 3” PVC and go to the front drivers side as a first attempt. Once you make something you like you can go to Amazon and order the pieces you need in stainless steel. The best intakes I’ve ever had were all pvc ones I made.. If you only street drive you can route the piping into the front fender pocket, if your in the mud a lot, you gonna want to building something with a snorkel.
@@mblake0420 have you found a different intake system? I hate ripping it all apart to change spark plugs and coils. I don't own a frontier yet, but I will, and I'm a maintenance tech that maintains 17 of them. There's a spacer between the manifold and the head on some years of the front wheel drive qr25de that has the injectors in it. I may get that spacer and make the rest from pvc temporarily and then build it from steel tubing. I want to install a turbo, so the intake manifold needs to be custom anyway.
From factory there are different because Nissan used 2 different types of metal to build the qr motors. I always gut the lower thermostat and keep the one in the head.
@@chrisbuildsitall oh interesting. I only ever hear people gutting the upper. Mine was gutted from a previous owner but it was causing my coolant temps to drop like crazy under wot
can you please clarify what direction the upper thermostat face in this qr25 Nissan engine engine. the spring part of the thermostat goes inside the engine ? or spring part goes towards radiator ? there is a lot of videos on you tube that are confusing.
Just revs a little faster, maybe 1 or 2 go. The shafts are known to go bad and if that happens you’ll lose your engine. All that said, most will say not worth the effort unless your building up your engine.
@@andre8935from what I've heard, some of the catalyst material crumbles off a d can get sucked back up through the exhaust valve and into the combustion chamber. Or something similar to that.
@@cameronalford4506 if your just doing it as a daily, I would do a cold air intake, header and exhaust. There are many people that turbo the 2.5 but that cost about 3k to do right. The 2.5 sounds nice with the above parts on it and runs much better.

Got a question, it's kinda hard to find an Sr20de nowadays, do you think going Qr20de would be a better idea? Planning to put it in a Sentra B13.

Planning on building an N/A QR25 eventually. I've had this plan for about 2 years so I know it's something Ill actually work for
Good luck!
I built one in 2016. Garrett GT3076r. A rod came through the block.
How many psi? Was it tuned also?

Yes. That’s a problem with these.
whats the opening temperature for the upper thermostat and lower thermostat. tq
I believe upper is 180* and lower is 195*.
Everyone guts the upper thermostat in these cars though.

The spring part goes into the engine
What's the pulley on the top left, next to the crank pulley?
Power steering
I like that style of aftermarket exhaust manifold. What brand is that? Where could I find one?
It’s just an eBay special that I gutted.

Will these mods work on my 2009 2.5s coupe
Some of them will. The 2009 have plastic intakes that eliminated the butterfly screws, but they still have the balance shafts.
Bro, did the gutted headers made a difference?
Nothing noticeable, just preventing it from ruining my engine.
The precats ruin the engine?
