- In this video we are installing the timing chain & timing cover with integrated oil pump. I give you a brief channel update, and we take care of the most vital part of any engine build.

Super helpful man thank you
Much improved camera angle on your intro Justin and the voice over is really good and concise. Music throughout is awesome! Great choices for wide appeal. Keep wide appeal and channel growth in mind with episode descriptions - views are most important! Really liked the end where we get to view your funny personality and wisdom as well.
Your encouragement is the best!
Loving the detail. What about some still shots with overlays showing the bolt indexes that you were giving?
Yea, we did that in an early video and it felt too cluttered. I'll have to look into how to do it so it feels more clear. Thanks for watching :D!
So no need to remove oil pan and lower part for removing timing cover for replacing giudes and can it be done while the engine still hanged in the car ?😅
That’s right! But it’s a bear if you do it like that.
You delete the oil balance shaft or this year they did
I deleted it.
how did you keep the crank from turning on the balancer torque? Did you hold it from the back side??
With the timing chain installed you can put a wrench on the cam shaft, though, it’d be better to hold the balancer in place with a whatever you have at your hands. I don’t think you can access the crank from the opposite side of the engine when the transmission is installed, and even when it’s out like this, there’s nothing to stop it from turning on that side.
@@texastoolbox6512 Thx Brotha !!
this isnt proof that you can do timing without removing the lower oil pan....i appreciate your videonad i hope you continued making more but if you dont remove the lower pan you will have soo much trouble and in the end need to shift the engine over to the driver side after removing engine mounts and then still have trouble with the engine in a engine hoist sling and all the way up and over...basically if you dont remove the lower pan be ready to bring the engine up and right (driver side) so far its technically removed
i would recommend telling anyone doing it this way how hard it actually is....again i appreciate and thank you for your video and hope you dont see my words as negative or ignorant in any way...
No trouble! I believe you mean upper* oil pan, since it’s a two piece design. The balance shaft assembly and timing chain are separate, but both are driven off of the sprocket gear that is held in place by a woodruff key at the crankshaft. If you are replacing the balance shaft chain when replacing the timing chain, removing the upper oil pan is necessary because there are not enough clearances to disassemble the lower (balance shaft) chain. You could, however, simply cut that chain and should only notice a very slight change in idle vibration.
