Hello, very good and necessary channel!I'm from Kazakhstan

Hey I found your channel looking for schematics of vhs camcorder circuit boards- in one of the older videos you told a story about building a tube camera… I’m 24 and a huge nerd and specifically want to build my own tube camera and have wanted to for some time and you’re the first I’ve heard of someone building one!
Just wanted to leave this comment and thank you for being a clear pioneer in this field, and that this channel is a literal gold mine of priceless experience, knowledge, and stories that I’m so happy to have stumbled upon. Going to buy old for-repair gear to tinker with as a result of the inspiration you gave. Thank you!!

Yes sure did in grade 11 electronics class. Bought the plans and parts from a company called ATV research. Hmmm, do you think that had an influence in my company name? Actually I was heavily into ATV, that's amateur tv arm or amateur (ham) radio. There were a bunch of us in that hobby. Unfortunately most of the guys are dead. I should dig up some tapes of our experiments.
It was a vidicon camera. Solid state just the pickup tube. It was stolen I was so pissed off.

Yeah I’m super into tube stuff and there’s just so little documentation anywhere. Would love to see your experiments. I collect the JVC-GRC1U from 84 - have 3 of them they’re just a stellar design object and the light trails from crt sensors are to die for.
I’m also into circuit bending to make art as I’m a designer (don’t know how familiar you are) and curious what your thoughts are on if it’s possible to do with camcorders (handy cam ccd trv43). I’ve done it with CCD point and shoot cameras and also old video mixers by playing with the some of the pins soldering points but investigating schematics currently to see if there’s a data conversion pin to modify
Again, glad to have stumbled across your work and channel. Literal gold mine that I’m looking forward to absorbing all your knowledge and stories

I don't know why it spat out the Maxell but I don't think it was anything to do with what was or was not recorded on the tape... except... if the record slider was set to protect then it would know that it could not format the tape and could not play the tape so eject it. But I suspect there was some other reason. It should be able to take a Hi8 tape and format it ready for making a recording.

The record lockout is set on that tape but it also had a digital 8 recording on it. The recorder is smart enough to see that it has something on it that it can't recognize and it rejects it. Normally you put a blank tape in and hit format and let it write time code and map out dropouts.

    Another one recovered :-D
The problem is they never get serviced until its too late.
But that's people and we all do this to some degree.

If this old gear was used from time to time it wouldn't seize up.

This might sound silly but I'm...sorta in the same boat (getting in over my head)? I've got an RCA CC250 camcorder (1987) that needed the belts replaced and I did that...mostly. It went from not working, to mostly working, to...absolutely not working again. I was wondering if there was any way to get in touch and possibly get a quote about a repair? I'm having an absolute doozy of a time trying to find literally anyone to even look at this camcorder for me. Any info would be amazing, though! Thanks!

So, I'm curious. Did you ever find the on-off rod and button? I find it really interesting how the evolution of sound recording has come. Just think eve3rything is now done in solid state mode.

Did tascam actually make hi8 mechnisums or did they just buy from sony

      @12voltvids  Год назад +1

Afaik they made their own trabsports. Tascam is teac professional. Teac is huge. Probably bigger than Sony.

@@12voltvids I do know that actually i have many tascam cassette players at home but i know sometimes even big companies re branded. I have a tascam 3cd and cassette combo I use all the time cause it has a button that lets you do tape and cd continuous play its also super easy to repair and fix. I have the one tascam dual well recorder were both decks can be independent.

Hey man you got any contact details Im trying to possibly send in my camera soon, unless you can point me in a direction to fixing it myself it could be a simple fix or a whole rebuild
